Halloween 2, 1981, is in my opinion 100% the better film out of these two! My mom was always super cool and bought me Halloween 2, 1981 on VHS second hand at a clothing store which no longer exists haha. I still own it 😎 💪

Not gonna lie, whenever I want to watch the Halloween films, Rob Zombie's installments are the ones I usually go to first. Especially his take on the second film, just because he had the balls to try something different with the characters.

I just realized I've been waiting a whole year for this video and it was even more thoughtful and unique than I expected it to be! And I respect how much work goes into these videos. You watched a 4 hour documentary and it didn't even offer much. That's dedication! And one quick thing about Rob Zombie that I've always respected was him bringing back old school horror and genre actors like Syball Danning, Sid Heig, Michael Barryman etc. to work on his films. I wish more people did that. It's great how you highlighted that!

Halloween 2 (81) is the better film both for nostalgic reasons and it genuinely gives me a claustrophobic fear with it being set in an empty hospital. You can easily watch the original and the second one as one full story without having to worry about expanding timelines and remakes. Also, the way the mask looks different with Warlock it makes it look creepier to me.

Mike n Jay from WWAM are literally two of the funniest mf’s on YT, imo they r the best channel for Halloween content hands down.. Kylie do u actually judge someone depending on where they fall on the vaccine issue? Personally I didn’t want to put something into my body that was rushed n had zero data showing what kind of long term side effects could arise from getting the shot(s) that being said I completely understand n have no issue w ppl on the other side of the fence.. we are all individuals that have diff beliefs so I just don’t get why some try to shame ppl and/or question their character for choosing to do what they feel is right for THEIR body whether it be for or against being vaccinated.. our society has fallen so far in just a single generation it’s scary :/ loved everything else about the video though, great job breaking down these two films

I was at the 40 panel (and the 45 convention two weekends ago - fantastic convention, and as a bonus, John Carpenter surprised everyone and showed up for the final panel on that Sunday)... also, Rick Rosenthal and I produced a movie in 2012 together - he is truly a great guy! And Nancy Stephens is wonderful too! Anyway, liking your channel more and more, and I just found it today!

3:53 You omit one key detail, Warlock was wearing the Myers Mask while he stared at Rick Rosenthal. 11:11 I don't like Joe Rogan either, but why is his being bald relevant, seems like bald-shaming. 15:30 As for the Carpenter/Zombie feud: a more nuanced explanation is that they are both right. It's conceivable that John Carpenter used supportive words to Rob Zombie but delivered them in his cold dismissive cranky old man tone. Tone delivery can greatly qualify a statement. Also if you've seen more recent interviews with John Carpenter, he can be very short and curt with the interviewer, so it's believable that he would act that way with Zombie as well. H2'81 is shot well and well-crafted on a technical level, but as a story it's mostly a stillborn. The whole movie, bridging off from H1, feels like its on a pause while the main character is out of commission confined to a hospital bed. They attempt to makeup the difference with additional kills to pad the runtime before they finally recommence the Laurie and Michael cat and mouse chase. This is all a product of the movie having no purpose at inception. John Carpenter in a documentary: Halloween A Cut Above the Rest, in reference to his involvement with H281 said "We're remaking the same film, only not as good." As for Rob Zombie's H2, it's interesting but with mixed results. I like all the Myers portions, including the surrealism, the dream-like ghost mom, and the white horse. But PTSD Laurie Strode is borderline unbearable as a character. I understand they were going for a realistic depiction of PTSD but that doesn't mean that it is fun or enjoyable to watch on screen.

RZH2 is my favorite movie in the Halloween Franchise. It's the one I watch the most. The bleakness, the brutality, Corporate Loomis, dirty hippie Michael - it's a different thing compared to any of the other films. I even can get behind Nights in White Satin and the white horse. Great kills - esp the guy who played Porky. I even like the Weird Al scene. H281 is good but so slow and doesn't measure up. Great vid HH...

Also, comparing the sister relationship in both films, you have to remember that in 1981 it wasn't known Laurie was Michael's sister 'til the second act break in the film. It was the time of "Luke, I am your father" era. So, just pointing out that it was a mystery why Myers was still going after Laurie 'til Nancy Stephens told Donald Pleasance about the sealed confidential files in the back of the Trooper's car.

Great analysis & vid as always🔥and congrats on a million views🔥🔥🔥. Also, just as a point of interest, there are documented cases of families sharing delusions. I came across it in Psychiatry research articles I read a few years ago. Some Psychiatrists brushed it off as autosuggestion or something, there was quite a heated debate going on, how are you supposed to treat a family who all have the same delusion/hallucination? They couldn't reach a consensus. I imagine it's a "sensitive" area for Psychiatry as it starts to cross over into religion. Can't remember specifics, it wasn't a fruitful academic rabbit hole for what I was studying at the time.

I love rob zombies film, especially the 2nd one. Because I love the look of him following Laurie and Annie's mental health, as well as the mental health of the cop, and how he first handedly saw the terror of Michael within his own family. The dynamic of Laurie being way mentally fragile to go through this, and how Annie gets really tough and almost a mom to Laurie. And the constant fear of Laurie finding out her true horrific self... And the build up & wait for her to read the book & then her freak out when she realizes she's Michaels sister!!!! Omg Scout Taylor Compton did so great acting! Another reason why I loved Zombies, I love her !!

There are so many issues with RZ H2 but I have always loved it (except the ending in the directors cut) I feel like it’s rare for horror to tackle the ptsd side of experiencing such a traumatic event, it was refreshing to see the survivor struggling after the experience rather than living a successful new life or becoming some bad ass that’s prepping for the rematch, I love how the original H2 takes place during the same night as the first but it feels more like them stretching out a small final confrontation with Laurie drugged and Micheal walking around slowly making his way to her which kinda doesn’t fit since he tracks her down faster in the first movie and then just slowly stalks her, here he slowly tracks her down then immediately goes for her. I’d pick RZ H2 over the original H2

totally agree on horror sets being the best.. Not only are some of the sets and props really awesome, but sometimes you are filming some really dark shit and the crew tries to keep it as light and fun as possible.. saws, and chucky series are some of the most fun i've had on sets.. As for RZ halloween, i loved the first hospital part.. Some od the kills were absolutely brutal. wish the whole movie was like that, but h2 81 is better by miles.. Also, i never realized at least to me, how similar rz h2 is to halloween ends..

Despite people like John Carpenter critically crapping on the original Halloween 2 it will always be my favorite in the franchise. I suppose much of the reason for this one being my favorite is nostalgia because I saw the film opening night in the theater back in 1981. The fact that it directly picks up on the same night of the original and feels like one long continuous film is cool imo. Somone really needs to make a new fan edit fusing the two films together into one long 3-hour movie.

Still doesn't do much for me, the original part 2 will always be a superior film. Most can watch it side by side with the original, and although it has slid down my rankings it's still and always will be one of my favorite Halloween franchise movies

Great video. As someone who likes H81 minus the brother sister shit, i really hate that, I think Robs version did a better job with the brother sister plot line. Especially in his H2. It's a really nice character study of her after the shit she went through. I still hate the film and most of this franchise but credit where credit is due. If the whole films was just Laurie and that's it I would have liked it more. Which brings me to my next point. Robs Halloween 3 was apparently going to be mostly Laurie in a hospital and a character study of her in there after all the trauma and her trying to recover. And Michael coming to finish Killing her is a main plot line but it becomes apparent by us the audience that, that might not be the case and Laurie is either imaging Micheal killing everyone or it's indeed Laurie actually killing everyone. And this notion of evil or mental illness moving from one to another is subtext throughout the film as well. I honestly would have loved that and it really sucks Rob never went through with this. I like the sound of that film. Scouts Laurie was the only thing I liked about his H2 so that's probably why I would have like this film. Shame it wasn't made.

I recently re-watched 2009's Halloween II; metaphysics played a huge part, in navigating itself for me, whilst the movie was being viewed. In general, the metaphysics in question is the Heaven/ghost/poltergeist mythology style of metaphysics, which to an unbeknownst would denote the logic that Zombie's Halloween II's ghost and Heavenly aura - of its special extrovert nature - is why the intervention by the metaphysics, of my psychology's gravity pull of metaphysics per se reality story (indeed, per se reality story) was able to happen per the route and identity politics of Heavenness, and ghost and poltergeist aura. The violence, and the redemption arc throughout the story of the 2009 experience is sublime, to say the least; the violence tells the story, of society being unable to cope with its self-awareness. 2009's Loomis's development, though albeit a natural condescension victim, of Pleasance's Loomis's withstood of all ideas attacking his 1978 movie, is in fact the true heart of the movie. Yes, Scout Taylor Compton is brilliant, as a tormented Laurie (a mystic Laurie, indeed), the sudden change and deus ex machina style of redemption afforded to Malcolm McDowell's Loomis at the end of the movie is over the Laurie story's heart (the essence, of the political victory of Loomis's story over Laurie's being the aforementioned mystic quality of attachment to Laurie's aspect).

H2 1981 is a sequel made back when you really didn't see many sequels. I first watched it on our first vcr which was a beta. I still to this day watch HALLOWEEN 🎃 1 then 2 every HALLOWEEN. Its almost like the laser disk side A then B , you feel like it one movie , the feel is the same and the look is pretty much identical . I remember being about 5 or 6 when I watched H 1 then 2. Gotta love he 80s. Lol

Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN II blew me away…today just like the first day. Unlike the predecessor we get a real Rob Zombie movie here! I love the dirty look, the desolation, the brutality. I also definitely prefer the Director's Cut, which works out much better how physically and mentally broken the survivors of the predecessor are. Add to that the surreal dream sequences and vision of Michael and the more consistent ending. I love this movie! Rob Zombie unmasks Michael Myers and, in my opinion, creates his personal masterpiece!

Miss Hippie have you seen Session 9 directed by Brad Anderson and Angel Heart directed by Alan Parker? Both are really interesting and great horror films, Session 9 is very minimalistic in approach and it's horror is more dread inducing, the score for the movie compliments scenes perfectly and the casting is great, the story is a slow burner and can be a headscratcher if one isn't paying attention, it took me a few watches to fully appreciate it, Angel Heart stars Mickey Rourke (in one of his best performances in my opinion) and Robert DeNiro, I find the film to be very atmospheric when it comes to horror, the way it's shot just adds a very grim and cold feeling to the film, the story is great too, it's a mix of detective noir and the supernatural. If you haven't seen these films, I highly recommend them n_n

Over the years, I've really come to appreciate 2009 H2. To add to your comparisons...Brad Dourif's Sheriff Bracket is miles above and away better than our original sheriff. The scene where he finds Annie makes me teary eyed every single time. Honestly it depends on my mood for these two. If I want a fun slasher, I'm going for 1981. If I want something darker and more brutal, I'm going for 2009 H2. I think it was his better film between the two and when I rank RZ movies, H2 is 3rd behind Devils Rejects and House of 1000 Corpses. Its not the abomination everyone wants it to be.

I feel like when Zombie said he felt Carpenter was cold to the idea of the sequel it might have been just a very subjective thing to say and not necessarily a lie. It's possible he actually felt it like that. Maybe Zombie had such different expectations and he felt like Carpenter should/would be way more involved in the making of the film. While Carpenter thought it was way more respectful to distance himself and let him do his thing. Of course it's all speculation but it seems so weird for Carpenter to be angry at him and calling him a liar. It's not like he said he had sex with a goat hahaha he just expressed the feelings coming from him XD Maybe Zombie just wanted a hug. #justiceforzombiehugs XD
