The Disturbing Secret Behind “don’t hurt me mommy” | The Case of Christine Belford

“Mommy, I want to come home”
It’s March 20, 2011 and a disturbing video entitled “don’t hurt me mommy” is uploaded to KZread, showing young mother Christine Belford with her 3 children in the street, being secretly filmed. 4 years earlier, in September of 2007, Christine frantically calls the Newcastle police department, telling them her 3 daughters have been kidnapped. What had started in 2007 was a plan of revenge against Christine and her daughters that would end up escalating for over 8 years, ultimately becoming known as one of America’s worst cases of cyberstalking.

4 years for Kidnapping the kids is ridiculous. They were gone for 2years. And the grandmother only got 2 years for "child endangerment" charges? How about accessory to kidnapping? How was David able to talk to his sister and orchestrate all this without it ever being caught? Do they not screen inmate communications? It really seems like there was so much that could have been done to prevent all this from having ever happened.

I don’t understand that either. Unless she refused and could do so coz she’s an adult at the time. I wonder if she would have chosen differently if she knew she wouldn’t see them again for the foreseeable future. I can’t imagine how insanely traumatic to be in witness protection as much as it is not in it. You’d be looking over your shoulder the entire time. Your life as you know it has ended. I can’t even imagine. There doesn’t seem like enough punishment for the father and grandmother especially for orchestrating this entire saga. Maybe if they expire on their own volition or natural causes in jail, then perhaps the girls can be reunited 😞

The oldest daughter was never a target. It costs a huge amount of money to put someone in protective custody and Katie still has her grandmother. Here in Australia, a 69yo man had 6 prior families; 6 ex wives, 10 kids total. Each prior family had AVOs against him, and a 40 year history of D.V. His latest family was made after he bought a 19 year old teen girl named Olga from Russia, married her, and they had two children together. Olga did everything to give herself & her kids a better life. She became a lawyer and senior partner of a law firm in Sydney, whilst enduring every horrific form of ab*se. Finally they made their escape. The kids got a new school. They got a new car. A secret home- the kids could never have friends over or share their address. But finally, they were safe. Until John Edwards petitioned the courts for a special license to access guns again. Here if you have a D.V charge, you lose your guns & gun license. But there’s a loophole. He had been repeatedly denied over the years due to the D.V and stalking charges. But some friends vouched for him (may they be haunted). John Edwards hired a private investigator to locate the family. He was approved for the gun. And Olga came home from work to find her 15 year old son Jack and 13 year old daughter Jennifer shot to death, huddled beneath the computer desk, holding one another. Jack tried to shield Jennifer from the bullets. Olga then found a letter from John explaining why he did this and how it was ‘her fault’. John Edwards took his own life in cowardice. Olga valiantly fought for several months before becoming Johns third victim, dying by su*cide. She couldn’t be without her babies one more day. John Edwards had stalked every family he had. Ab*sed each of them. And it ended completely predictably. This case reminds me of Olga, Jack, and Jennifer. What an utter tragedy. Thank you Unseen for highlighting the victim survivors, and lessons society ought to heed.

You have to love how the police dismissed this from the start as a “custody battle” issue… Seriously?! If a parent is in a custody battle and doesn’t return the kids on time, you NEED to get involved IMMEDIATELY. 99.9% of the time, that’s a kidnapping situation. They were slow to react, they gave them light sentences for some pretty hefty crimes… This was more than kidnapping and child endangerment. There was neglect, traveling out of the country without permission of the other parent… Just a plethora of things they could have been charged with that would have kept them in prison longer. The threats she received from prison were never taken into consideration (which should have extended their sentences) and the PFA wasn’t enforced or her ex father-in-law would never have gotten in the courthouse. Now 3 little girls are STILL in protective custody, STILL can’t see the other sibling they have… And why are they still in protective custody? The monsters are behind bars, unless they feel there are more out there. Still, they can at least let the other sister see them. That’s not right… The justice system failed a lot of people, here. Let’s hope it’s never repeated.

I survived a psychopathic father who I wouldn’t have put past ending my life if my mother didn’t meet his ransom demands, and from that I gained a layer of distrust and paranoia that I think people without similar experiences lack. So I agree with the stance to take zero risks. Never get separated from the herd of your home base/safe base, so to speak. This hits home for me on soooooo many levels, you have absolutely NO IDEA. In May of 2007, my daughters dad had his turn for the summer with them and was supposed to return both of them August 28th, 2007. In that time frame my fears of him and his wife were of them kidnapping my 2 daughters out of country and go in hiding......at the time my daughters were 4 years old and 2 years old. When August 28th came, my daughters did not come home to me. I called their father to find out what the hold up was and he told me he wasn't going to return my daughters and I was to expect to be served custody papers and interrogatory documents to prove he was an unfit parent. For 3 years I tried my damnest to make arrangements to pick my daughters up, but my pleas fell on deaf ears and my fears grew more and more.........listening to this tragic and horrifying video makes me honestly feel like I foreseeing what was happening to Christine and her daughters instead of myself and my daughters. However........my daughters dad and their step mom NEVER served prison time when he was forced by the judge in 2010 to give my daughters back to me in the 3 years of keeping my daughters from me. Also......like the creep b*stard "dad" in this case, him and his wife said the same horrible things about me just so he can win favour for full sole, full physical custody of my daughters........guess what? His manipulation worked regardless of his violent criminal history towards women (his wife included). Another tragic difference is Christine and her friend Beth were murdered, whereas my friend Karen, her husband and I were not at the custody hearing. My worse fears in those time frames of Christine's 3 daughters crossing international boarders were me me tapping into Christine's instead of my own......Idk......I could be overwhelmed because of the story and the same time frame that her nightmare started.

@@cremetangerine82 I just hate the way some criminals are not getting long enough prison sentences to even keep the victims safe. The guy in this case committed an international kidnapping. Then he only got a few years in prison, and was let back out. It seems like kidnapping a child would get him quite a lot more prison time. The judge probably did not take it as seriously because it was a parental kidnapping and not a stranger abduction, but they should have. It was out of the country, and the girls needs were neglected. He ran out of money and had to sell their belongings. After hearing about this case, it was clear to me anyway, imo, that he was not a person who was safe to be out walking around free in society. I don't know what the max sentence is in that state. I think it would be more than the 5 years, I believe he received? I feel if they'd given him 15-20 years then they'd have been kept safe longer and had a chance to possibly relocate at least. The Judge should know not all parents are good people. Kidnapping by a parent can be a serious crime too. Especially when it is an international kidnapping and the children are being neglected.

The family courts are despicable. Nothing they do is in the best interest of the child. I am close to a case where a 2 year old was given a parental schedule of 3 days with the mom and 3 days with the dad. A psychiatrist testified that such schedule would be terrible for the child and would most likely create an attachment disorder. A 2 year old does not have a sense of time. Such prolonged separation from the primary care giver created horrible psychological effects on the child, he cried and hid for 40 mins of average when it was time to leave the primary home. I witnessed it. It happened every time. It was painful to watch. The little hands latching on...There was a guardian ad litem involved and she said the primary care giver was instigating such behavior on the child. Bear in mind we are talking about a 2 year old. The worst part is that those people: GAL's, judges, family lawyers, most of them have children of their own and they would never put their children through what they make families go through. It is a despicable system that focuses only on money. That's why the system allows situations like this one to go on for so long in an endless spiral that will end in tragedy. It is obvious what the system does and people are just pawns in their web of manipulation.

He was in the lobby area near the entrance- there’s always some amount of space before you go through security to ensure that in cases with a packed courtroom, people aren’t lining down the block just to get through the doors. I think this case is probably why some court houses will have additional security at the doors with those wand detector things as a preliminary line of defense.

That website they first put up opens with: *”When Christine brought her daughters home from a visit one weekend, she walked into the kitchen, stroked one of her daughter's hair and said to the Grandmother, Lee. "When I sell your son's three blonde white Amencan girls, im going to get $50,000 each, I’ll be sitting pretty they’ll never be found.”* Like a real life abuser is going to act like some movie villain just blurting out her evil plot.

Wow what a disturbed family and how did they get small prison sentences, poor mother sacrificed her life for her children who she loved! That family needed to be locked up forever pity they got that when it was too late that grandmother and her daughter amy are as vile as the husband, the disgusting names they said to the children to turn them off their mum😡 sick. But what an incredible case I've never even heard about this case before thank you very much, must say I believe that the justice system and courts dropped the ball on this one again, rip Christine ❤🙏💚😢

How incredibly sad. My ex, a narcissist, has alienated my youngest child from me, and it breaks my heart every day. I can’t imagine what this poor woman went through, and still stayed so strong for her girls. I hope those monsters rot in prison. The two faced ‘friend’ should have been charged, or sued, or SOMETHING. I hope she lives with her choice of helping to kill Christine every single day of her life. Thank you for doing this video, I hope that it reaches anyone in a similar situation, and helps them. ☮️💖🙏

My mum had the same thing happen to her and she was alienated from my older sister. I’ve seen through the guy my whole life so he wasn’t able to do the same when it came to me for very long before I got extra protective of my mama. I hope your child can open their eyes soon and realise how much you’ve gone for them♥️

As rough as these girls have it and the pain of losing their mom, I’m happy to know their memory of her is of a strong and courageous woman that did everything in her power to protect them. Many people with living moms wish they could say the same. Such a tragic tale.

How horrible that Christine had to live a life of terror, knowing evil things were being plotted against her and her children and having so little power to do anything about it. And she died terrified, surely knowing in those last moments that her demise meant her children were in danger- and she never got to know that they were okay in the end. I’m so disgusted that she had to fight and live in fear for so long while the system failed her at every step.

I love Unseen's focus on the courage and heroism of the survivors, or in this tragic case, the courage and heroism of those who fought for justice and to protect their loved ones before their passing. This is the best way to go about true crime. There are heroes in each story who deserve this recognition.
