Heard this song a "few" hundred times now, and it never gets old. Well done sir! 🎸 Does Melissa dare to take a bet with you after this??? 😂

"Jenny of Oldstones" is from Game of Thrones/The Song of Ice and Fire book series. Melissa is the lead vocalist for Ad Infinitum, Jenny and Hanz are from Feuerschwanz, and Morten (the drummer) is from the band Amaranthe. They've released several covers and some original music, and its all fantastic.

The Dark Side Of The Moon are technically a super group, all of them being awesome musicians: -Melissa (Swiss) is from Ad Infinitum -Hans and Jenny (both German) are from Feuerschwanz -Morten (Danish, Melissas boyfriend/fiance btw) is from Amaranthe

Great reaction. Darkside of the Moon is a side project born from a bet between Melissa and Hans. Both of their bands were signed to Napalm Records and releasing videos around the same time. Melissa lost so she had to do a dare from Hans who challenged her to record a metal version of Jenny of Oldstones. Napalm Records loved the recording and encouraged them to form a band and record a full album which was just released in May. Their music is covers and original songs from the fantasy world. Other great tracks include May it Be from Lord of the Rings and Double Trouble/Luminos (Hedwig's Theme) from Harry Potter. Jenny Diehl, in addition to her work in Feuerschwanz and Dark Side of the Moon, is the owner and principal of Dream Film Factory who produces lots of great music videos including this one. So many great Feuerschwanz and Ad Infinitum songs to checkout. Also Melissa does lots of great collaborations with other bands like Powerwolf (Blood for Blood (Faoladh)) ,Kamelot (New Babylon), and of course Feuerschwanz (Ding and Warriors of the World Unite). In your theme of breaking expectations checkout the band Oceans of Slumber. They are a really good progressive metal band from Houston, TX with a great front woman Cammie Gilbert. She is so good that Arjen asked her to sing on his Transitus Ayreon album. Some songs include The Water Rising, A Return to Earth Below, and Winter.

This band was actually born from a bet between Melissa Bonny (vocals) and Hans Platz (guitar). When German Medieval Metal band Feuerschwanz wanted to record a cover of the song "Ding" by German Danchall Band "Seeed" they invited Melissa to sing a part of it. At that time the single "Marching on Versailles" by Ad Infinitum was just released and so Melissa and Hans agreed on a bet: which video would reach 1 million views on KZread first ("Marching on Versailles" or "Ding"). The Feuerschwanz video reached that threshold first andHans won the bet which meant Melissa had to do another song with him. They chose "Jenny of Oldstones" but needed some additional musicians. So they recruited Melissas partner (Morten Løwe Sørensen, drummer of Amaranthe) and Jenny Diehl (actually one of the so called "Miezen" (like dancers) of Feuerschwanz and producer of many of their videos but she also plays the Harp in some Feuerschwanz songs). They recorded this song and sent it to Napalm Records under the bandname Dark Side Of The Moon. The people at Napalm were thrilled and released it as a single. It was a success and they asked for more and the band started to work on an album. Their main focus was doing metal covers of famous themes and songs from TV-series, Movies or video games but they also have some original songs. On May 12th 2023 the album "Metamorphosis" was released. So maybe you would like to check out Feuerschwanz - "Ding" (Seeed cover) to see the project where Hans and Melissa met and agreed to this bet. "Ding" is a Dancehall track in the original but Feuerschwanz "metalized" it a bit for the cover.

The song was written after a bet between Hans and Melissa, in the meantime it has become a CD with live performances. Melissa was on tour with Feuerschwanz (Hans and Jenny). Melissa has such a good voice had the pleasure to hear her live 4 times now

You are just awesome you always find something totally different to bring to us I have never heard of this band before I like it there are parts that remind me of Viking or even old bard type of a sound (folkish) maybe even a little like sea shanty style then the mix with the metal they did this well thanks for this ride as always your ride or die forever Eyyyy Ooooo

The band members are seasoned musicians: Melissa Bonny of Ad Infinitum on vocals, Hans Platz of Feuerschwanz on guitar, Morten Lowe Sorensen of Amaranthe on drums (he is also the boyfriend of Melissa Bonny), and Jenny Diehl of Feuerschwanz on harp. This new super band has made a splash virally with Games of Throne, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings' songs and more. The mix of traditional and modern rock (metal) sound with less serious take on artistic interpretation make this band , like Feuerschwanz, a joy to listen. A more relaxing approach to heavy metal.

WOW! The intro reminds me of Loreena McKennitt with its medieval touch. The rest sounds more like symphonic/viking metal like "Leave's Eyes" .

Their album "Metamorphosis" is SOOOO good, I listen to it on repeat since it was released last month. By the way, the record label Napalm does foment endogamy within their pool of bands. As others have mentioned, the singer (Melissa) collaborated in two cover songs of the guitarist's (Hans) and the harpist's (Jenny) band Feuerschwanz: Ding (really fun to watch) and Warriors of the World United (great for vocal reactors, as there are five lead vocalists in the song) In return, Jenny acted as fire dancer in the video to the song "Seth" of Melissa's band Ad Infinitum.

Melissa is amazing. I've been a fan of hers since I first watched the video with her former band, "Rage of Light", for their cover of Aqua's "Lollipop." I'm not ashamed to admit that I clicked on it because of the babe in the thumbnail (Melissa), but I was an instant fan as soon as she started singing. The rest of this band is likewise great, and I can't recommend their main gigs enough: Ad Infinitum, Feuerschwanz and Amaranthe (also a special mention for Rage of Light, who are still great, as is their new singer Martyna Halas).

The dark side of the moon is Legend. So many good well made song. You should try some other cool stuff, maybe the crimson ghosts - don't follow or nearly free or Unleashed (from Germany) , Bloodsucking Zombies from outer space - Vienna calling or Radio active or kids of the apocalypse (from Austria) , The Other - We're all dead or a party at Crystal lake.... (Germany), Nim Vind - 21 century or Killing Saturday night or ESP (Canadian)... And so on check it out. Greetz from Germany

Melissa grew up in French-speaking Switzerland, which is why German is a foreign language for her, which she only speaks moderately. Nevertheless, she founded Add Infinitum in Germany because she couldn't make a living from her music in Switzerland due to the high cost of living. That's why her band consists of Germans. Shortly thereafter she moved to Denmark to her drummer. Damn the EU and the freedom to work and live where you want (yes, the Scheiz is not in the EU, but in the EEA. Fewer obligations, fewer rights). I never found their first band Evenmore exciting. There are better folk metal bands out there. The trance metal band Rage of Light is worth a listen, there aren't many of them. Here with the current singer: RAGE OF LIGHT - Lead the Riot (OFFICIAL VIDEO) The drummer at his workplace, a Swedish band. Because there is no category for their disco sound, they fall under Medodic Death Metal: Amaranthe - Maximize (Masters of Rock 2019) Feuerschwanz is considered a folk metal band because of the instrumentation, but above all they are fun: Feuerscnwanz - Schubsetanz The most successful collaboration between Melissa and Firetail: FEUERSCHANGANZ - Warriors Of The World United (feat Thomas Winkler, Saltatio Mortis & Melissa Bonny)

With the European Bands such as this. Nightwish, After Forever, Epica, and depending on the label such as this one Napalm and others such as Century Media, Nuclear Blast and a handful of others that I am drawing a blank on. You'll find many bands such as this. Whether it's the woman with the clean vocals and the man with the harsh vocals or vice versa, or in cases such as this, the woman doing both or the man doing both. It's a roller coaster ride and very entertaining. The European bands/groups kind of corner the market on the style of music, one of the nicknames that has been thrown around over the decades as beauty and the beast style of music and I think you understand why 🙂 Bands that have been doing this for a while such as nightwish and Epica (Check them out) not only create beautiful music, but can tell beautiful stories with each song and their videos are just grandiose.

Try "Feuerschwanz -Warriors Of The World United" feat Melissa Bonny and other, too! Or listen to Eli Berlin with "ZERO POSITIVE - Wo Rauch ist, ist auch Feuer!" (it's in German, but great!). She has a phenomenal voice too! "Independenz" is another good song of them.
