@@danielarputharaj9918 to sum it up, the blue jay (mordecai) and raccoon (rigby) beat the ever loving shit out of everyone on that game, shooting for the universe record until Garrett bobby Ferguson (the big head parodying mitchell) confronts them and tells them he has that record, convincing the crowd enough to ignore mordecai and rigby and respect gbf, so the two of them challenge him in a round that ends with him pleading in sympathy for them to forefeit since the score is all gbf has, they do, but he lied and destroys their pride and respect in turn until the bros realize they have an extra life, trying to both beat the record and keep away gbf, thus kicking him in the nuts, winning all the respect, and gbf exploding into goo lol. Just watch 'high score', my explanation doesnt do this justice

The thing is if Mitchell had kept his mouth shut, most viewers wouldn't have known that and just thought of it as a funny design. I would guess that 70% of Regular Show viewers had never even heard of Billy Mitchell when they watched it.

I feel bad for David. He tried his best to defend Mitchell and prove him innocent and in the end Mitchell betrays him because he couldn't do it. It's impossible that it wasn't on an emulator and David found that out during his own research.

Tell you what, there is some serious emotional whiplash here moving from "Todd Togers misspelled his own name in legal documents" to "Billy Mitchell basically killed a man and then gloated about it."

To my knowledge Billy would need to mis-place one of his accusations into the wrong state court system for an anti slapp suit to actually apply to him, as antislapp litigation is not at the federal level. However, I am not a legal expert, I've merely listened to a few who have made similar claims as well as survivors of likely slapp suits.

Yes I was wondering the same thing myself, if the anti-slapp legislation covers federal court or just State Court? I would think that it is the federal court system which was being abused with these frivolous cases, but I could be wrong because I haven't checked into the actual law itself just see what it says. That's always the best way to check validity of a claim, to look at the actual law or at least put a link up here for people to click to see the anti-slapp law?

You know Billy Mitchell was wrote to by Ronald freakin' Reagan, and named game player of the century by the makers of this. All these investigations and you are finding more to 'speculate' about, but nothing to certainly surmise any conclusion towards, leaving the speculation in the hands of emotional viewers. I may not like him, but he has skill. And guess what too, we have the right to the legal system, you have the right to a lawyer, and you don't need to spend money on it to pollute the legal system that people so deride. Maybe I think it's time this generation's viewers actually grow up for a change. Get over it, or better yet learn to get your head out of the scourge that is cancel culture. It's only convenient to accuse but not to defend in this day and age.

Nah, Apollo killed Apollo. During the whole Billy lawsuit he had massive fan and those who were disgusted with Billy's actions full support. He offd himself due to illness and not being able to do what he said he was going to do when suddenly almost 100 grand appeared in his GoFundMe account over night. He cracked under the pressure and couldn't juggle his health, the lawsuit and his other personal issues. This is why he caved into the lawsuit and removed the videos, refunded (or tried to) the GoFundMe money then got backlash about that on top of Apollo's own shitty online history (he wasn't exactly a good guy himself). Billy or his son now goes around on social media or silly boards like 4chan boasting and bragging how it was a win for them, Apollo had to settle due to defamation and lying on Billy and how Carl is next after a supposed video he had to edit to remove a clip from Apollo's now deleted video. To sum it up all nicely Carl isn't Apollo. And im more than sure he'd have a lawyer paid for by his viewers easily. You know it's all bullshit, the man spends more effort giving out lawsuits then he does proving he can do the score again.

Not only that but his groupies did as well. Comment sections, social media you name it. It was uncalled for. Not to mention how he was a total snake with the whole visit to discuss the board swap video. When billy in that video tucked tail and ran in his office leaving Robert Childs to take the heat. Silly. They did it also to Tipster when he first covered the topic before he revealed himself to be a clown. 2) No one cares about billys Twitch channel. He got what? A mil? That wasn't the score that he claimed to have. And too little too fucking late. 3)Karl isn't the only source of information on this mess. And there are quite a few people who has a grudge or dislike of him. 4) All the time during the TG investigation he never worked with them to present any evidence to defend himself. But stood in a corner in FL. So the Tldr? Billy's full of so much shit his eyes are brown. He's what? 60 now? Let this shit go and retire somewhere. Also you're dishonest yourself. I strongly hope you aren't hopping around on accounts going from video to video. Apollo wasn't the first to notice billys shit nor was Karl.

What I'm wondering is why did Apollo even settle with Billy Mitchell? I remember he posted the video about Billy's lawsuit, then set up a Gofundme, and he was able to raise enough money to counter-sue Billy pretty quickly. And he probably would have won the lawsuit-Billy had no case and Apollo had plenty of allies. Very sad. Hopefully Karl Jobst's lawsuit will teach Billy a lesson.

I'm honestly wondering if Mitchell came talked him into doing and offered to pay his legal fees.

Imagine being a judge for major lawsuits, like making serious decisions in important injury and malpractice cases, and once a year or so you're like "dammit the guy who keeps suing people over his high score is back."

If you've ever watched something like Judge Judy it's probably not so strange. People go to court over stuff like "wind makes trashcan lids fall off" and "I want the olive oil in divorce". I realize it won't be a small claims court this time, but the judges will have seen it elsewhere.

Also a cautionary tale for all of us. iirc, Apollo already had a mental illness before he went into a very stressful & controversial topic of "exposing cheater". Your health priority should always be one step above your work.

Yeah, because for ONCE Billy Mitchell has a legitimate gripe in the eyes of the law. Unfortunately, this is a lawsuit he could actually, possibly, win. Jobst has no proof that Mitchell had anything to do with Apollo's suicide. While I believe most of us can probably agree that his frivolous lawsuit against Apollo likely made his mental stress even worse, it's going to be very, very, VERY difficult to prove that in a court of law. Especially when Apollo specifically blamed others for the reasoning behind his suicide. I can't stand Mitchell either but this could end up being a significant blunder on Jobst's part. Mitchell now lives to sue people so the second he has even a sliver of hope for successfully suing someone, he's going to do it!

@@JSchaffer214 i think there's a good chance Billy is telling the truth about there being no monetary agreement between him and Apolo Legend and that's the only thing he will want to disprove. Everything else about him has been true, except for that one particular detail.

Genuinely did not know that Apollo took his own life and am sad to hear the news. I enjoyed his meeting Billy, it made me laugh and hope that maybe Mitchell wasn't a super villain. Obviously a false hope. There's so many people in our community that support each other, so my hope can't be entirely diminished by a couple of entitled jerks.

I think Togers submitted a score of 5.57 originally. But someone at Activision messed up and printed his score as 5.51. After that Todd just ran with it thinking, "If Activision put that number and they're the authority I'll just go with it." But the lie grew so much he couldn't tell the truth. Our he's just a slimy liar. Either/or...

"I will do my best not to smile or giggle." Billy writes this in response to Apollo's suicide? Pure. Evil.

I wanted to say I respect you so much for removing the portion about Apollo's passing. I know was hard and Billy's video he posted was dumb. Hell, he said they reached a settlement, flashed a folded paper. Makes me think of the "Arcade Board swap" for DK and DKJr. Billy may have driven Apollo to what happened, even if money wasn't spilled.

@@Astronic While it wasn't the only reason, Billy's lawsuit forced Apollo to take a massive debt in the bank, leading to money problems. This, combined with his already deteriorating health and smaller youtube dramas, is what finally broke him, which made Apollo commit suicide.

Opinion is not defamatory (with a nod to the pedants who will say "except when it is", but none of those conditions would apply here.) But to be fair, it's still a legitimate concern because it costs money to have lawyers argue in court and get a judge to throw the case out.

Philosophically speaking, I think the fact/opinion distinction is actually somewhat bogus (see John Corvino's article on this). But "opinion" still functions alright as a legal category.

This is stupid. I understand some people working hard for their records because they care about the game, and then cheating to get ahead, but Togers literally just cheated, and then spent like 30 years lying about it. This lawsuit is so insanely desperate. I can't imagine what's driving him to act like this.

Had no idea about Apollo Legend. He was a big part of how I learned about Mitchell and other game record fraudsters. I read that he butted heads with some folks from the speedrun community as well. I hate that he took his life.

Ugh… this is just sad. Two grown men attempting to become relevant again through accomplishments and non-accomplishments from 40 years ago.

It was all fun and games until I heard that a man took his own life. RIP Apollo, I didn't know the guy but was very sad to hear he comitted suicide. I not only hope that Mitchell goes bankrupt, but that he faces the consequences for Apollo's death and goes to jail for it. Man o man, what a world we live in...

In this case, Todd actually helped Billy by being the 'referee' that verified his 1.067 million DK score. The one we have no full video of, and only show-off demos from Billy (that reveal MAME screen drawing routines anyway).

The most notable thing was when he played hardcore defense for an actually Nazi who got exposed and banned from GDQ, rwhitegoose. Apollo's misrepresentation of facts and commitment to "we all say bad stuff sometimes, he says he's changed, guys" was disgusting to say the least.

I've been a fan of Apollo Legend for a long time. I wondered why he hasn't uploaded in a while and when you said he took his own life my heart stopped.. I had no idea. That's seriously heartbreaking. I already hated Billy Mitchell, but now I can't even express how much I hate him.. what a terrible fucking person. I'm so sad now. RIP Apollo Legend

there is a good amount to unpack here. i was similarly angered by karl's video. i have always and will continue to hate mitchell. but the implication that billy was ultimately responsible for apollo's suicide is far fetched and so is the claim that he had to pay mitchell money for settlement (no proof of this yet; mitchell claims he has papers backing up the fact that no transaction had occured, but mitchell is a compulsive liar and i take his words with a grain of salt). unfortunately, mitchell has latched on to the this very sentiment and wants to sue jobst for these 'defamatory' claims which is derailing the entire course of action. mitchell must have most likely seen that a better case would be if he could prove that there was no transaction between him and apollo; hence he wants to proceed with this 'lawsuit' rather than the donkey kong one which he is 100% destined to lose. jobst should have been a little more careful while throwing those words as there was no real proof pointing towards any cash settlement.

The suicide video cites chronic pain and his friends betraying him as the main reason. Billy laughed about it, but did not cause it.

I audibly said "WHAT?!" when you said Apollo Legend was dead. I wondered why he hadn't made a video in a while.. Your channel, his channel, and Summoning Salt, are the trinity of popular speedrunning coverage on KZread. He will be missed.

Holy shit I had no idea about Apollo Legend. It's one thing when somebody like Billy impotently flails about, but when something actually connects and does damage he's gone from pathetic to actually evil. Billy's gone from somebody who we're trying not to remember to somebody that we'll never forget, nor what they've done.

Hi Karl. I was more a retro gamer than a current one (I can name all the “current” games I play on both hands!). I was born in 1969, so you can figure out that I was around during the beginning and peak of classic arcade games. I wasn’t great at them, but always enjoyed playing them. Somehow, while looking for KZread related videos on these older games, I found myself here, watching your videos and the documentaries you’ve mentioned. I really enjoy the videos you’ve put together and I’ve learned a lot! This particular topic is so vast and crazy and that guy B is a real piece of work! The fact that someone could not only feel no remorse, but quite possibly even feel personal satisfaction, that their malicious lies led to someone taking their own life, over points in a video game no less. How this man can even stand to look at himself in the mirror everyday is beyond me.

Now I'm pissed. I didn't know Apollo died as a result of Mitchell's lawsuit. I remember watching his videos about Mitchell's actions and am now very sad that Apollo is dead.

I know a very similar situation which I am lucky to be out of (still working on some debt which may not be an issue soon). It still sucks that he died for such as awful reason and I don't want the to happen to anyone else either. No matter if they would have hated someone like me or not.

The worst part of this entire thing is how Billy wears his tie outside his vest.

I think they're just counting on judges being so ridiculously out of touch with technology (and reality), and ruling in their favor on better legal paperwork and well-presented arguments. Or hoping the people they're suing will just roll over and settle for $$$.

This just shows how ridiculous the current legal system is in the US. The fact that people can sue one another knowing full well that their claims are absurd just to strong arm the other person into submitting is insane.

Yep, the fact that someone who wins a lawsuit (either as plaintiff or defendant) still has to pay their own legal fees means people are forced to settle even when they're 100% in the right. Basically extortion and many states lack the anti-SLAPP laws needed to prevent this.

My friend had this happen when he did work for a very well known DJ who used my friend's work without paying. The DJ dared him to sue because of course this DJ had a team of lawyers ready to strong arm my friend into a settlement where he'd have ended up paying money to do the work that was stolen from him. It's despicable

As nice as it would be if that were true, sadly Mitchell does have fans (somehow). Fans who ignore all the evidence, then accuse us of doing the same.

I had absolutely no idea that Apollo Legend died, or even took his own life. That hit me like a rock man, Billy Mitchell deserves prison.

EZScape and DarkViperAU were listed on the suicide note as the main reasons he committed unalive, so they deserve just as much blame in my opinion. Many people forgot that fact, but I never will.

Billy Mitchel's job is googling his name, finding people talking about him and suing. I expect he will get to me and this statement around 2028.
