Let’s do the math. The suit became public October 22 last year. 301 days. Karl’s legal fees are $280,000 dollars. So for him to break even, Billy would have to tell 930 lies a day on average. So yes. I think you’re right.

It's in the lawyers best interest to keep it dragging out. Especially if they are filing the suit. You drain the money as much as possible to try and force a settlement. Defense tries to prevent that. So I'm almost certain Billy's lawyers are gonna be about the same cost if not more by the end.

@@theatagamer90realistically Billy is probably paying a low cost hack to drag it out as long as possible. This is how stalling tactics works. You make your opponent pay more than you. From Karl's "We're trying to get this to go to trial". Sounds like Billy's lawyer is working their ass off to ensure the case never appears before a judge.

I don't know if it's true in Australia, but the catch in the US is that, if a case is proven to be frivolous, the judge would likely award legal fees to the defendant. If that happened here then Billy would suddenly be legally required to cover all of Karl's legal fees for this case, past and current, on top of his own expenses and on top of any other damages the judge may or may not award. Frivolous lawsuits can backfire spectacularly thanks to that.

@@RancorousSea At 20:07, Karl shows the lifetime revenue for a video that currently has about 900K views, which is about $2800 (not sure USD or AUD). Multiplying that out by the 13M total views on Billy-related videos someone else claimed above, that's about $40K total in revenue from AdSense (before tax, presumably) against $280K in legal fees so far. I don't know about you, but a quarter million dollar loss is not nothing...

@@hoo2042​​⁠ you have to take into account how lucrative these sponsorships can be. With Karl’s view count I would guess he makes roughly $10k-$20k per sponsorship. Even then, at about 2.5 videos per month average it will still cost almost a whole years earnings so it’s not beyond reason that he would need assistance with the lawsuit. One thing I’d like to know is how collecting lawyer fees for a civil case would work as the rules in Australia and the United States are very different.

I want this whole thing to end with Billy walking out of a courthouse after losing the lawsuit and getting hit by a coincidental rolling barrel.

Prominent figures in the arcade community and KZreadrs that support Billy, however, absolutely know all the details and are either knowingly trying to help him continue the grift (Arcade community members like Triforce Johnson, Walter Day, and Todd Rogers) and the KZreadrs that make videos responding to Karl (like Vanburen20 and Maris Memes) are trolls who are doing it for attention and know full well that Billy is a cheater. And yes, all of the people in the latter camps are more pathetic than Billy, because the only thing worse than being Billy Mitchell is being a minion for Billy Mitchell, lol.

To have an idea the hourly rate my office charges is 100€~150€ depending on the complexity of the subject, if the case requires a team prices would go up a bit according with the number of lawyers needed for the matter. But if you don't have means of paying for a lawyer the State will provide you one, for free.

Billy didn't kill Apollo Legend. But getting sued for a million dollars sure as hell didn't help a person's mental state who was already on the edge to begin with. In the end Apollo killed himself and that was Apollo's decision. People were willing to help Apollo fight the lawsuit. I am willing to bet the reasons for Apollo commiting suicide were way more complex then Billy's petty lawsuit.

IIRC, his sister also came forward and confirmed it was due to his sickness and declining health. Im canadian, so american law is out of my depth, but a lot of the times, it just comes out to who can pay for better representation. The industry of lawyers as a whole was deliberately changed so lawyers could charge more. The scariest part about the law imo, is that so much of it was made so long ago by people who wanted to exploit it, and now we just have to watch all their generation wealth recipient descendants continue to reap the benefits of the same system. I say serve em up, it's dinner time.

Apollo is the one who showed me who Billy Mitchell is, and I follow this all in hopes we can bring just a small sliver of justice to what Apollo was put through. Especially with how Billy acted about his death… it just makes me feel sick. I am ready for when you take Billy down a peg.

I was at the NERG convention and was at the panel, I didn’t know as much as I know now but knew enough to check that no money for ticket sales would go to Billy (a few people had already asked about this). I was sat behind the man in the audience he kept pointing to when making his points, for some reason he picked him out, must have been weird for that guy! Bless him Walter fell asleep a couple of times (you can see him nod off at the beginning of the footage and looks to be asleep when you see him at the end, he must have heard all this stuff so many times!) and the hostess was most likely primed to a degree, she mentioned having met him the night before, but she came across so nervous and uncomfortable throughout that I felt a bit sorry for her. She also seemed to be from a pro-wrestling background, she mentioned a couple of terms and said something like ‘in our world we would call that a sell’ or something to that effect I can’t remember exactly. It’s not in the video but at some point he started reading out personal messages he received from someone apologising to him and being wrong about him? Can’t remember who it was exactly but just felt like a really weird thing to do, like reading them out word for word. Overall I would say the feeling I got was Billy taking the opportunity to try and get some people who aren’t in-the-know onto his side, how many people bought it I can’t say but I took it all with a pinch of salt, so much I had to go straight to the shop to buy more! I would say the actual convention was really good with lots of games to check out and play if you’re in the area when it’s next on.

Hi Karl, I'm a year inn in my own shitstorm.. Got sued by my old boss. It has been so hard on me, it costs so much money to defend yourself and all the lies really gnaw on you. The amount of stress and unease I can really relate to buddy. I won the trial but here in Norway you can just disagree and we get new judges and now I'm on round two... so here I am again.. At first Billy Mitchell was just someone I remember being referenced on Regular Show when getting high at a friend's house. When I got into speedrun history and coverage it was mind-blowing what he did and what his reputation was. You and Apollo Legend have been among my favourite content creators on this platform, and I don't want to see him bully and try to ruin anyone else. He's an immature and disgusting person. Yeah, I watched his videos on the information about the TG scandal. But he was a questionable guy at the best of times in the community. Still BM crossed some lines with what he did hounding a kid with lawsuits and personal attacks. There are some people who I won't mind seeing die, because they'll make the world a better place. (Billy's working hard at being in that category.) But I'm sure as hell not going to giggle in happiness when they do. I'll just feel a sense of relief that they're gone. Laughing about someone dying, even someone absolutely horrible like a serial killer, is sociopathic behavior.

As someone from the town NERG is in, a lot of us didn't go this year (i'll never go again) because they had him as a guest. Why they thought it was a good idea to book him god knows, but a lot of us stood with you Karl and the others he tries to intimidate. Much love from Gateshead 👍

I still think its great Billy sued Cartoon Network thinking he would win, when Hollywood wrote the fucking book on mocking people with zero fucking liabilities. As we've seen recently, narcissists and sociopaths given any elevation leave the world around them in ruins. We have to stop Billy. This cannot be normalized.

4:25. Has anyone noticed Walter Day in this time stamp!? Anyone else notice the body language, the stare, that facial expression!? Am I the only one who thinks Walter may be emotionally and spiritually dead on the inside? It looks kind of haunting.

NERG has been going for a while and *was* something I attended. They had massive backlash over Billy & Walter attending and I've heard had their lowest ever attendance because of it. Their social media was inundated with complaints and people (me included) boycotting the event. He also did a livestream at a local arcade bar and I know a staff member there who said that also resulted in complaints and people saying they wouldn't be coming back in. If he's costing these people money, especially in today's economy, I doubt he'll be invited back 😊

I won't lie, I was tempted to go simply so I could see the shenanigans unfold, but there was another event in Newcastle going on later on in the year that I was more interested in, so I figured I'd not bother. Saves me a little bit of train fare. Boy I'm wishing I did now, because this is...something else.

The answer to what I think you are talking about is that Billy has been scamming people that think he is the GOAT for decades and in doing so has gained both a lot of money and fans. If he allows for people like Karl to publicize the fact that he is a cheater then he loses that steady source of income from people watching King of Kong, seeing him at conventions, and buying merch. So he is desperate to sue anyone talking about this into silence so he doesn't lose that easy income. Lawsuits cost a lot of money and Karl has made all the lawsuit info public although I doubt you want to look into it, because otherwise you'll have to come to terms with the fact that you are wrong in this case.

The trait means more than just being in love with yourself, it has to do with a complete inability to emphathize to a destructive degree. The sociopath is typically much more manipulative and controlling, capable of engaging in social behavior but almost exclusively as a means of controlling others. The Narcissist, on the other hand, has an inflated ego/arrogance/sense of grandiosity/etc that is not necessarily diagnostic of a sociopath. A narcissist also much more likely has a severe victim complex and a complete inability to accept any form of criticism, constructive or otherwise. While the sociopath knowingly lies to others with the explicit goal to manipulate, the narcissist lies to themselves more than anyone, and by the time they tell their lies to other people, they believe their own lies to be true. Again, they have a lot in common, such as extreme self-centeredness and lack of empathy for others, but the narcissist has a delusional sense of grandiosity coupled with a victim complex that the sociopath does not necessarily have. And the sociopath has a manipulative/controlling side that the narcissist doesn't necessarily have.

No one can convince me that his million dollar lawsuit against Apollo wasn't the straw that broke him. To be depressed and maybe suicidal already, and then be handed that abomination, it would be too much. It's not something that can be claimed as a murder in court by legal definitions, so he's free to laugh and go on with himself over it, but that doesn't mean it's not what happened. It was such a shame.

Thing is, the guy isn't even a good liar. He says things that are incredibly easy to disprove, as Karl illustrates time and time again. A skilled liar wouldn't make such mistakes, Billy is simply a charismatic person who knows how to project confidence. But his ability to lie is pathetic as he says literally only what he thinks the other side wants to hear and what will make him look the best, exactly like Karl points out himself as well. I personally know a person who is indeed a really good liar, he's so good he made me second guess myself even though I knew the truth. Also funnily enough he was unable to convince his parents later in life that he was lying to them in the past, they wholeheartedly believed it all and though he is trying to pull their leg after so long. And just to set the record straight: he is not a bad guy, he just has a knack for it and his childhood situation has led to him developing those skills and learning how to lie convincingly.

In a way it makes sense why some people would believe him, because "why would somebody lie about this so much for seemingly no real reason?" Billy isn't even really rich though. He does this as a means of peacocking and threatening people into silence, as well as a means of making money.

If Billy watches these videos that one's gonna sting for a while cos the thing about people like him is deep inside the narcissist knows the truth, and that makes them hurt more than they can cope by bullying others.

First time I heard of him was the Apollo Legend lawsuit when the pandemic started. Since them i've been following this whole saga. I probably would've never heard of the guy otherwise

I love how you make it like one of those educational videos from back in the day around 10:10 where you say "knowing what we know about Billy" it's like ok pause, write your answer down, then the teacher presses play and hey I was right the complaint definitely mentions video games. Easy A.

A fair assessment of Billy Mitchell based on everything I've personally seen: Skilled gamer in the 80s who realized he could maybe use gaming as a way to escape a dull career path. Started creating a spectacle around his gaming to make it seem like a legitimate "thing" people were actually doing at the time (fucking "referee" shirt, seriously???), fake awards, and wrapped it all up with pathological lying. There is very much a part of himself that believes his own lies. This is a great story to watch unfold. Billy Mitchell is the Steven Seagal of gaming.

I think that is the case with Billy Mitchell and Todd Rogers. They lied so much to the point that they actually believe their own lies. It also possible that he knows he is lying and keep stacking up to make himself look good, but there been cases of people believing themselves on what they say, even if it is a lie. It a major case when it comes to pathological and compulsive liars. It quite interesting to look into if you ever have the time.

Funny thing is: we *do* have a way to monetize gaming these days through streaming. If there was an easier way for Billy to make money back when he was at his peak he wouldn't have to resort to this bizarre heap of lies. With that said: I am almost certain he'd manage to eff up some other way -- as many streamers have been known to do.
