    Its important to understand that Todd's lawyer would have been disbarred by any state BAR if he lied in any of his motions about Todd lying. It would be considered unethical to dismiss a case against your client's wishes and its extra bad to ever lie to the judge about it. The lawyer is an officer of the court, so everything they submit is under oath. Todd thought he could lie in a court of law and found out that, actually, judges can ignore your lying when they have people who are forced to tell the truth on penalty of life-long expulsion from the state BAR.

    Exactly. This is precisely what happened to Jack Thompson (that nutjob who kept bringing lawsuits against GTA, Mortal Kombat, and randomly assorted games, rap songs/videos and movies that featured violence or sex). Admittedly, he was found guilty of other things too (harrassment, publicly humiliating litigants), but making false statements was one of the charges, multiple times, which ended with him being permanently disbarred.

Hopefully someone can make a tas to demonstrate this theoretically possible, though only time will tell if humans can recreate the necessary reaction times and skill.

    @@thetute59 No, that's not how it works. A lawyer is supposed to be prepared to go to trial if a settlement can't be reached. If a lawyer all along had no intention of going to trial, and only sought settlement, and would abandon his client if he/she didn't want to settle, that's malpractice.

  • @Malamockq

    @Malamockq

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@thetute59 What the lawyer proclaims isn't relevant, if a lawyer agrees to take a case, it's his job to act in his client's interest. He very well might get into trouble. But like all things, it needs to be proven, and that requires evidence, which todd todgers probably doesn't have. With that said, I feel no pity for todgers, he got what was coming to him, but that doesn't mean this lawyer is some saint either. He's as much of a parasitic leech as todgers is, and while todgers deserves it, his other clients may not.

    His lawyer really did make a lot of mistakes. Including virtually admitting that he was only pretending to sue because he thinks it would lead to a settlement, and he had no intention of actually suing. I'm pretty sure that's illegal, and can be cause for disbarment. I don't know which state this is going on and the laws there, but fake lawsuits don't amuse judges.
