I agree with you on that one. My earliest WC memory was 86 and I have to say that France 98 hands down still stands out as the best WC I've ever seen only 2014 and 2018 come close but still not close enough.

Bergkamps sublime last minute winner against Argentina was brilliant. Two class teams filled with top class talent

Zidane was a masterclass.

I remember I was 8 years old & couldn’t get enough of this cup. It was a time where a lot of players held equal talent which made it such a special era.

I was 11 years old, I watched a 98 final football game. I'm rooting for the Brazilian team, I'm Brazilian. Brazil was runner-up, I cried a lot, but congratulations, France and Zidane are sensational and awesome! won World Cup 98 award.

Nothing better than winning something for your country. The hope it brings carries on for generations.

I was 13 years old when this World Cup took place, also happened to be the first one I watched and why I ended up becoming a Netherlands fan. I remember Kluivert having a brilliant tournament too, he was my favourite player in that particular Dutch squad.

I was 3 years old. But I can remember a little of that final. Thay day I met two legends: Ronaldo " El Fenómeno" ( sadly, he wasn't ok), and of course "Zizou".

I was about 11 then, the memories of the World Cup which remain etched in my memory are Zizou's headers in the final n his out of the world play and Laurent Blanc kissing Fabian Barthez's bald head before the start of every France match.Also in the Final though Laurent Blanc sat out coz of a red card, he came to the dug out to kiss Barthez's head. Also Croatia's brilliant display of football and their superb striker Suker. The best World Cup I have seen in these 32 years of my life.

1998 world cup French football ruled the world for the first time while in the 1990 and 1994 world cups they did not qualify

There's an SBS (Australian TV channel) Documentary on France 98 narrated by Les Murray AM - an outstanding tournament! And who can forget Patrick Kluivert's header!

I also wonder why golden goal was only used so briefly; it's adds something extra to extra times for sure!!

France was now the football elite joining the other 7 nations winning world cup. The unique fact is France won in regular time twice and lost in penalties twice. France 1998 was the best moment when they won for the first time. France most dramatic final was against Argentina (though they lost).

Best year of my life till date.. Still remember I was 10 years old and this was for the first time i was watching wc football on TV with my father.. Those were some times. Will cherish the memories forever

Best WC by far. It was a tournament that signalled the height of the golden era of football. Its no surprise that Euro 2000 was a great tournament two years later.

I remember 1998 worlf cup may be the last one the host nation only built one new stadium (stade the france), and the other only renovate and upgrade stadium, may be one of the cheapest to hosting, because 2002 world cup lot of stadium was brand new specialy korea, japan bulit only couple new stadium
