As a Netherlands fan I think you are right(I have to watch again). But hey, at least Netherlands ALWAYS make a great show to watch uh!? 😄 even in the rare occasion where it didnt score a goal. The opposite of that no-fun spain team of 2010 who only scored 1 goal per match and never did a real show against nobody, it played very well but didnt deserved more than Netherlands, quite a poor Cup they made.

@@AzubuShy The 16 yellows in the Battle of Nuremberg actually included players getting a second yellow of the match. 2006 Battle of Nuremberg: 12 different players got booked. 2022 Holland vs Argentina: 16 different people got booked. 17 cards in total, the one red (a player getting a second yellow) came after the match was over lol. BBC is actually reporting 18 yellows were given out. One source I saw said 16, another said 17, now BBC says 18 just now. We'll find out sooner or later though lol. Either way, chaos all around. If BBC is right, thats 17 different people booked, 2 of which were coaches or managers. Everyone just completely boiled over.

1 of the most memorable game I have ever watched. The ref did well by remembering all the plays he had booked. A movie has to be made about this game.

Van bommel was at the centre of so much of this drama and managed to stay on the pitch. What a king. 😂

Deco and Gio weren't just spotted after the final whistle but already during the final minutes of the match. They were watching it together and it was great to see after such a heated game.

I think once you're sent off and you calm down a little you sit there with your teammate at Barcelona and you just can't do anything but laugh at how ridiculous it all was. yes, the Portuguese black ships were discovered by the Dutch in 1634 in Japan and since the Tokugawa Shogun favored the Dutch they were allowed to attacked the Portuguese (because Ishida Mitsunari / the Shogun political enemy was with the Portuguese). and Ieyasu Tokugawa won the civil war of Japan and became a Shogun (Supreme Military Ruler of All Japan).

I remember watching this match on tv and being astonished at the amount of tackles being done Imagining portugal having pepe and Bruno alves together for this match would be sure to have been a bloodfest

I remember that game vividly, I'd never seen a game like it and to this day have yet to see one like it. This game puts Boca-River clashes to shame.

The Referee was not intimidate by the dispicable lack of character of the game by the players. Today, I still greet him for his fearlessness and boldness.

It all started with Boulahrouz clearly revealing intent to injure Ronaldo. Portugal then knew that Netherlands came to play hard and did so accordingly. With the benefit of hindsight, the ref should have red carded the foul but very few referees have the courage to give out a straight red 3 minutes into a World Cup knockout match.

I will forever remember this match. It was so much passion and frustration mixed up.

My nephew told me that this documentary was shown to him at his school in History Class.. what a battle!!

I remember this game, I remember reading a comment on a board appointing that there were a huge rivalry between these two national teams because of the Euro 2004 where Portugal also dispatched the Netherlands in the play offs. Jeez, I'm becoming old...

I remember watching this with my grandpa, he went from shouting as a football fans should be, to shouting like what boxing or wrestling fans would look . . . and i was 9 years old at that time.

This is a healthy rivalry in football and awesome to watch. Portugal and Netherlands are both small countries with a punch larger than their size. Congrats to their history and legacy in the world. A rivalry like this was inevitable. Wonderful countries.

@@desporto6559 both have different aproaches to history. The Netherlands was also a colonial power but sure, Portugal had a bigger impact. In the other side Netherlands had a lot of history and influence in Continental Europe that Portugal didn't.

The legacy of Portugal is the language spoken by more than 250 millions, the Dutch, well.... not really. They stayed 400 years in Indonesia and nobody can speak the language who sounds like a troth disease.

Both countries have unfinished business since 1596. Always great football matches!

I was at the stadium on December 9, 2022 for that match and it was madness but a thrilling game🔥

The most "Beautiful" game in World cup history. So manny kids at the Time watching the game, are now on MMA. A True inspirational game. PS: that 2nd fault Over Ronaldo was to be a direct Red Card,but i think that both teams and the referee were just getting warmer and know each other well. Only 4 red cards was a gift from heaven.

I think this was the first WC I ever watched. I thought it was really exciting, especially when number 14's cleats missed the Dutch goalkeepers teeth by about two inches even though the goal keeper was standing straight up. No penalty. I think the Portuguese guy's name was Valente or something like that. The Dutch started by trying to make CR7 a paraplegic.

This is the most epic video I've ever seen, better than anything Hollywood could have ever made. You got this epic soundtrack kicking in with 2 teams fighting to the death. Their leader is taken down, their comrades try to avenge, but they fail. The energy, slow mo caps, the sweat, the confrontations, it's all absolutely brilliant.

I think the problem is that in those days especially Ronaldo was a massive diver, he hit the ground for any and often zero contact... Robben and Suarez are the same, they didn't get refereeing decisions given his way because they always cheated.

That ref was trolling all day 😂 He got to enjoy that match, giving out cards for everything 😅

I will watch it this over and over again and never get tired❤️

Apart from the fouls it was one of the best matches of the 2006 WC with open play and many chances from both teams. One of the rare matches from the knockout stages of that world cup in which we saw attacking football.

Robben lost his hair after this match! That was the most regrettable casualty.

The referee did this by not punishing 1:01 with a red card. That was the sign for the players to pick up the heavy guns.
