@@temjin44 Romario was great, no doubt, one on par with Ronaldo, the real Ronaldo that is, also Ronaldinho. But you mustbnot hsve seen much of what Diego Maradona did in 1986 or the rest of his career to say Romario did the same. Maradona was essentially a one man team every time.

Romario was great, but he was not the best.

This is a very underrated Brazilian squad IMO. Usually the 1958-1962, 1970 and 2002 squads are the most talked about. But the 94 squad were great in their own right. Romario and Bebeto up front with a baby Ronaldo ready on the bench. Romario and Bebeto were a fearsome duo, a great, attacking tandem. They scored 8 goals combined in that World cup to sum up 73% of Brazil's offense for that world cup. That's incredible.

2002 was overrated. If it hadn't been for that Belgian goal against them that was disallowed for absolutely no reason whatsoever, they probably would have dropped out in the round of 16. The most iconic moment for that squad was Rivaldo's disgusting dive against Turkey.

Eu era um moleque de 13 anos em 1994. A primeira vez que chorei por causa de futebol foi no gol do Branco contra a Holanda. E as lágrimas aparecem até hoje sempre que vejo esse gol e o do Bebeto contra os Estados Unidos. Que época boa para ser torcedor!

This World Cup and this team 👌🏻👌🏻 I was 13 and used to wake up and watch all of the games in the morning. I idolised Romario, just an amazing player and technician. Great memories.

The 1994 Brazilian team is often understated. Romário was a genius, and the rest of the players were also top notch. And you look at the shootout against Italy, they are all cool. Much different from today’s cry babies.

Underrated Player

This was a very strong team, particularly defensively. Ricardo Rocha was an amazing defender and Dunga and Mauro Silva would disarm almost every play. Raí did not perform as expected so midfield was OK. The attack was some of the best seen in a world cup.

Romario & Bebeto what a duo. I still believe that Romario should've been on the squad for 1998. I know he was injured before the tournament, but he could've helped in the later stages. You had Ronaldo who was a beast, but come on Romario was a quality player.

I remember and love him, and few days before I again watched this world cup 1994.

Exatamente. A sorte que em 2002 o Brasil jogava no campo do adversário o tempo todo. Mas a zaga era fraca. Porém um detalhe: das oitavas de final pra frente Brasil tomou só um gol. E fez 7. Total de gols em 94 foi 11. Total em 2002 foi 18.

@@cordeirochristian na verdade nao tinha técnico, apenas um esquema tático de posicionamento em campo com um buraco entre o meio, pois Raí não conseguiu render o esperado, mas eram excelentes jogadores do 1 ao 11 e fazer um gol naquela seleção não era fácil. Com a entrada de Romário a pressão de fazer os gols caiu sobre ele e cada jogador pode fazer o que sabia, focar em sua posição.

That Brazil team was very similar to the Digeo Maradonna 1986 Argentina team - set up VERY defensively, and relying on Bebeto or Romario to produce some magic to win games. I think they only used to have 3 players on the field who weren't defenders - Zinho, Romario and Bebeto

Branco had an extremely powerful shot at distance. He was a very offensive player for this team too, and sometimes he would help to put pressure on the opponents shooting from the outside of the big area. I can clearly remember that time he hit at distance a camera man on his eyeglasses, causing him a severe injury. As Branco, I'd quote Roberto Carlos who came in 98 with a strong and killer wide range shot.
