Rivelino used to play as striker, but as Brazil had already too many he had to play mid defence. He scored some goals coming from behind surprising adversaries.

That whole team were brilliant. And that's the thing. They were a complete team. No egos. They all played for each other. At that time it was said that their goalkeepers were a weak link and yet I seem to remember Felix pulling off a pretty decent save or two in the matches that I watched. You could argue that Jairzinho was under rated. He was an excellent goal scorer and clearly very important to the team's success. But, what about Gerson, Rivelino, Clodoaldo and Tostao. They were excellent players who were also absolutely integral to the success of that team. It is not only the goal scorers that are important, it is also those behind them and alongside them, backing them up and creating the goal scoring opportunities that are important. To date I have never seen a better side or a side that gave so much pleasure than that 1970 Brazil side.

It was a team that worked with the precision and charm of an orchestra

The Brazilian 1970 team was by far the greatest team of all time to ever set their boots on a football field. A sea of legends!! 😎👑🥇

Exactly. But a funny fact is that after qualifying, Brazil was defeated by Atletico Mineiro in a friendly match in September, 1969 in Mineirao stadium. A stunning match! Atletico won 2x1 and Pele scored for Brazil

Brazil Started with 4x1 and finished with 4x1 this WC. In only 2 games scored the same amount of goals of Spain in whole 2010.

There will never be a World Cup run, from start to finish, as spectacular as this.

Definitely the most iconic and thoroughly entertaining world cup victory of all time. This wasn't just a victory for Brazil but for the world of football. The beautiful game because just that.

That last goal by Carlos Alberto at 4:55 is just breathtaking.

There are so many details about this goal that make it greater every time you watch it. First: The ball was recovered by Tostao, the number 9. Second: Clodobaldo, the defensive midfielder, dribbled past 3 Italian players, one of them without even touching the ball. Third: Jairzinho, who was the right wing, received the ball open in the left and cuts to the center. Fourth: When Pelé receives the ball, he gives the pass to Carlos Alberto without even looking, and if you pay attention, you can see how Tostao pointed at his right, giving him the indication that Carlos Alberto was moving up like a bullet. This team was something else. A true sea of geniuses, and there were no fixed positions. Everyone was all over the field, and that made life impossible for their rivals.

Jairzinho, scored in every World Cup game; infra valued compared to the unquestionable Pelé and the vitality and skill of Rivelino and Gerson. Perhaps he was the greatest star of the World Cup. He certainly marked his name in the history of the World Cup.

In my opinion, Carlos Alberto's goal in the final is the best of all time. It's better than Maradona's goal in 1986 because that goal had included everything in football game skills, teamwork, and finishing. The Brazil team also did it to the team which's had the greatest defense ever.

it also had a bit of luck... in the repetition you can see the ball jumping a bit right before him brilliantly striking it. Had it not jumped, who knows? Maradona's goal to England is unbeliavable, chances it happens again are extremely rare. That goal by Brazil is great, but variations of it happen from time to time.

Brazil in 70 was way better. There was no rival for Brazil, yet in 2012 Barcelona didn't won the UCL and had Real Madrid already strong as a rival with CR7.

Brazilian here, it's officially 6 assists, 4 goals and 28 plays/chances that could have resulted in a goal, in SIX GAMES. It's still unmatchable this volume of performance.

Your just looking at the goal scorers. This was a squad made up of legends, a machine of masters that brought the ball to the scorers who were masters themselves.

Probably the best, most talented group of individuals to have won the World Cup. What with Pele, Jairzinho, Rivelino, Tostao, Carlos Alberto et al...Frickin legendary team. Garrincha the little bird was also a "g".. This was football at its peak, it's zenith. Indeed, it is was football heaven. Barcelona's tiki taka style of play under Pep Guardiola comes a close second. 👊🏽✌🏾 tantrik t.👉🏽😎
