And just think, Thierry Henry and David trezeguet were just substitutes on this team! Their "star" striker was guivarc'h who didn't even score in the tournament. Just think how much better they'd have been if Henry was playing 90 minutes.

Henry and trezeguet were starters at the beginning of the tournament but came off the bench during the knockout stages. Wonder why henry didnt play the final

Every time i watch anything france 🇫🇷 98’... it fills me with nostalgia and takes me back to 97-98 when i was 9, hanging with my childhood buddy when we literally felt the whole island of jamaica 🇯🇲 shook- (still didn’t really understand what the commotion was all about when the grown ups hd informed us kids) -when the national team had gotten qualified for the world cup, then we watched them playing on the highest stage in 1998. Zidane later in life became my favorite player of all time.

All of the goals from Les Bleus are amazing.

They are french and everybody has origins like me, like you whether you like it or not. What don’t you understand ? Why put the origins of french players in the foreground ? What is your purpose ? What the other said is an incitement to hatred, I only see it. We are in a multicultural country where everyone comes from different backgrounds, it’s the strength of France despite the tensions that may exist and it’s the same everywhere. I think it’s hypocritical and racist to say that players are african origins knowing that in their country there are people who comes from Europe, Asia and cie : foreigners for their jobs, to live in a foreign country for example and be very well received. Giroud is still a threat off the ball. I think even tho Giroud got not goals, comparing him to Guivarch is an insult.

I remember that was the first world championship I saw as a child. Great players but what a show also Croatia's Suker and Boban or the Netherlands of Davids, Seedorf and Bergkamp.

So many different scorer. That shows an incredible quality in the team. For myself the best WC after 2006 in my country

My father always admired Zidane, even if we werent soccer fans at home, he even bought me the worldcup ball with the Zidane's soccer uniform and a pair of boots

What a tournament, I was a kid who just started to passionate about football and I'll never forget this games. France and Holland had legendary teams, and in the final were Ronaldo and Zidane -best players ever. Most stunnig game - Holand - Brazil.

Looking back at this I love the left foot/right foot whipping corners from Petit and Djorkaeff for Zidane's headers. They crushed the Brazil defence! The quality of those corners basically won them the game. They must have worked on that a lot in training

Funny story about this game. I sat down to watch this game at home and just before kickoff my dad asked if we had any cold drinks. I asked him what he wanted and he said "Oh I don't know 7up or something." I went to the fridge and we only had Sprite. When I took the bottle back to him he said "I thought i said 7up?!" I said "They're practically the same." He smiled and said "Yeah I guess you're right." Seriously it was a crazy moment on a generally mental night all around.
