Anyone over 40 knows that Ronaldo was the best striker we've seen, the guy was a phenomenon - he could do anything with a ball and no one could stop him, injuries really ruined his legacy.

@@uromi-owuopukeme6081 Rivaldo played in the the final. There's a famous scene where Zidane is simulating an injury, and Rivaldo kicks the ball towards the sideline for the sake of "fair play". And Edmundo is so mad that Rivaldo fell for Zidane's bs that he is shown on the verge of punching him.

All of this just made his redemption in 2002 that much magical and phenomenal. 😎

As a frenchman living in Spain and after seeing his season playing for Barcelona I truely thought we had no chance… this problem he had gave me a bit of hope but still thought we were going to lose… even after winning 1-0, even after winning 2-0… brazil was just that scary at the time. In the past 15 years or so they never got teams as scary as the ones from 94-02

Zidane won the World Cup and the Ballon D'or that year. From 1998 to 2001, Zidane was overall the man and when Ronaldo returned in 2002, he won the World Cup + Ballon D'or like Zidane 4 years before him.

France was awarded the World Cup in 98 with bribes and Platini admitted they set up the whole thing for a Brazil - France final. Zidane was probably the starter who played the fewer minutes, not even captain of his squad as his temperament would get in his way.

Pre-injury R9 was, in all likelihood, the greatest footballer of all time.

Pre-injury?yeah pre injury he was at his absolute best, totally agree one thing..He wasn’t the best player/striker in the Brazil squad though was he? Romario comfortably was. They played together enough to compare them. Ro-Ro combination, Romario scored more & made/assisted more goals. Also better with his headed goals & controlling pace of games.

They had to do ANYTHING to stop him even at that age WAS SCARY and to make a little documentary on how to stop him aswell. I dont know one player in history who has that presence like he did and they all feared him because pf the way he plays and that SCARY SPEED.

To this day I still believe that Nike had a clause in their kit manufacture's contract with Brazil that required Ronaldo to feature in big games (such as the WC final) as part of boosting kit sales. No way would a medical practitioner let a player who suffered a seizure take part in a contact sport just because the player insists they are fine.

English native speakers should never take their language for granted, even if it is the world's lingua franca. A seleção brasileira tinha capacidade de vencer está copa com ou sem o Romário. Eu não acredito na história do R9, já que a confederação da seleção brasileira (CBF), tem diversos casos de corrupção, além de que a FIFA também tem muita sujeira. Muitos brasileiros acreditam que a final foi vendida para frança, pois todos os jogadores estavam apáticos e jogando muito mal, pra vc ter ideia, a seleção brasileira jogou mais no 7 a 1 do que nessa final.

@@TheBluCannon I think Brazil could have won the world title in 1998 if Romario played with Ronaldo and Rivaldo. They won undefeated the Fifa confederations Cup in 1997. It is a big mistake done by Zagallo who had issues with Romario, but Brazil could have won that year if he was on the team. 2002 team could have been more dominant as a champion with Romario as well even though they won without him that year.
