I still remember when Italy won the world cup. My oldest daughter was just born and we sat and watched the entire game together. Was one of the greatest days of my lifetime.

When the coach told Zidane to use his head, I don’t think he meant it literally.

France from 98-2000 was the strongest in recent history they only Conceided one Goal VS Croatia 🇭🇷 Italy 2nd they were aging and replaced some players France was also aging by 2006 both teams were at their primes plus afew relatively young players. That's 3 major finals for Zidane and co in 6 years not bad and 2nd final for Italy in 6 years.

After seeing Italy knocked out of 2022 against North Macedonia. It is crazy to sit and reflect about this being the most recent game they have played in the World Cup Knockout rounds

Zidane was already taking off his captain armband before he even got the red... I was rooting for Italy but what a sad ending for a highest caliber legend such as Zidane. The moment Zidane was sent off, I knew it already then Italy would win 🇮🇹

This is one world cup everyone up to this day still talks about. Sucks that Zidane went out on his last game like that. The man playing the last game of his career could of ended with a world cup win. 😢

With VAR French penalty would not likely been awarded since there was zero contact with Materazzi, although I can understand why the refery was genuinely fooled because of the speed the guys were running and they were only millimeters away from each other. Second goal from Italy may have stood with VAR too. Toni who made the header was not on off side, only Jaquinta was on offside. This game should have ended 2-0 for Italy after 90 minutes.

lol what? based on what? the man walked 90% of the game, acted like a diva, red carded himself sabotaging his teammates and country because his ego couldn't handle some light trash talk. He deserved it the least. He deserved it in 98, sure. You Zidane fanboys weren't even alive to see him play. He's become so overrated now it's crazy. I cant remember a time during his career where he was even considered the best player on any of his club teams.

@@derper3987 Zizou was not perfect but I think most people that played with him or coached him would agree that he was indeed THE MOST important player in the team. Sir Alex Ferguson once said “Give me Zidane, 10 pieces of wood and I’ll win the Champions League” This was not his finest hour… Which was a shame after his brilliant performances against Brazil and Spain. But to write off Zizou as “overrated” is preposterous. Zizou, Nesta, Maldini and Buffon could easily still make the “all time” world starting 11. Luka Modric and Kevin De Bryune are the only central midfielders I’ve seen since Zizou with similar foresight and vision. Pirlo, Xavi, Iniesta, Scholes, Totti, Sneijder all great… but often in Zizou’s shadow. Few players have had more elegance, and style with the football than Zinedine Zidane… Zizou, Ronaldinho, Maradona could dance with the football.

As an Italian fan I’m soooo proud of Grosso in the semis and final! 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹

Jesus, did the 2021 Euro final really have to go exactly the same way as the 2006 WC final? Let's see... both teams playing in blue and white, early goal by France/England, centre-back equalizes from a set piece to make it 1-1, no goals in extra time, Italy winning the penalty shootouts... man, why no headbutt in 2021 while we're at it?
