The 1965 Plymouth Barracuda 273 V8

Ойын-сауық

Showing off what I did to my 1965 Plymouth Barracuda in less than two weeks.
Finished getting it running 1 day before my senior year ended in high school, and completed my goal of doing a V8 swap in 12 days!! Much more was factored in this project than shown, brakes, transmission, ect.

gwmax11 I was waxing nostalgic about my magnum dodge - 440 4-speed - and remembered a car I almost bought, 1965 Barracuda with a 275 HP V-8. Keep 'em alive!

Nice job on the 'Cuda. I wish you well with the car. Nice save too. You stated in your video that you saved it from the crusher. Well done. I too have a great many projects. No videos on any of them but one; my 1965 Corvair 2 door hardtop. I'm also working on a 1965 Dodge Dart GT, a 1966 Corvair convertible and a 1964 Pontiac Lemans convertible.

should have left the slant six in the barracuda..both cars are valuable enough to be kept original

For the past 7 years I've been doing this, when it comes down to it, really depends on the buyer. Plus, this fish is never leaving the family.

Very nice Barracuda you got there. Did you have to change the K member?. I just put a hopped up 360 into my 74 Dodge dart sport coupe and had to change mine. Lucky you had the doner car. I had to come up with a left exhauste manifold to clear the steering gear. You commented on my vid of my slant 6 so I thought I'd check your channel out. I'm glad I did. You should check mine out. You my find some things that interest you on there. Dan

I did not have to change the K member. In '64-'66 all valiants and barracudas use the slant six k-member. After '66, in '67 they widened the shock towers for more clearance for big block v8's. So all I had to do was use the motor mounts from my '65 valiant, since the cuda and the valiant have the same front ends. There is a website that makes motor mounts to convert your slant six to a v8, so you probably didn't have to change your k-member out.

gwmax11 Thanks for the reply. I got the k member in a basket case deal with the car, and on a tite budget so I changed it as long as I had it. Dan

danfhowe Sorry for the confusing typos, replying on a ipod doesn't work very well haha! Yeah! I'll check your channel out. I am curious how you changed your K-member out though? I bet it involved a bunch of welding. This is the website I was talking about for changing out the /6 and putting in a small block or even a big block V8. They supply customized motor mounts and much more to fit just about any Mopar application: www.engine-swaps.com/ I will be getting my '65 Valiant back up and running eventually, then most likely sell it. Still looking for an old '65 904 V8 auto-trans so I can hook my column shifter back up in the Valiant. Thinking of putting a nice 318 in it. All I know is I have too many projects :). Glad to hear from another great Mopar guy!

gwmax11 No welding. The k member bolts in on the 74, it was a hard job but it was just unbolting and disconnecting the strut rods and getting everything back in place again and bolt back in. Dan

Awesome! Are you rocking with the stock fuel injection or converted it to carb? I'm getting finished with my 2nd 318 magnum build for my other '65 Barracuda, carbed, then moving on to my 5.9L/360 Magnum motor for this '65 blue Barracuda and want to do it stock fuel injection but not sure how hard it is to make it work, lots of wires.
