    I think any slasher lover will enjoy it. The kills are creative and gory AF. It sure is a massacre! P.S. I totally agree with you on Sally's death, it felt like she was wasted. Also, how was she still conscious after having a chainsaw rip through her body?!

    The mechanic guy should have been the hero. That would have been a good twist. He's just minding his own business, not bothering anybody. And now has to deal with this situation because of these dumb characters. Oh well, this was more Halloween Kills and just 10 mins Halloween 2018. If you want massacre, it will give you that. Now let this franchise just RIP. Part 2 will always be the true sequel to the original.

    I also have a couple things about the part 2 movie that a lot of people may not have realized. 1 when leatherface first encounters stretch, when he plunges the saw into the ice, there's a brief moment where you can see his chain came off the saw. 2 lefty had his chain on backwards lol.

  • @k3ith29
    @k3ith292 жыл бұрын

    Some of us who really love TCM movies are also into chainsaws. I have over 20 chainsaws including the one from this movie and I also have a nearly screen accurate Lefty chainsaw plus the 2 small saws he used. That being said... I know a thing or 2 about them. This movie tries to suggest that this is the original chainsaw from the first movie. They ran with the idea that the og saw was a poulan 306a and just got a 306a and didn't even attempt to make it look anything like the og saw. Poulan made a 306a and a 245a. The 245a is a more powerful saw then a 306a. It also has a bigger gas tank and is overall a bigger more robust saw... the og movie either used a 245a or they made a 306a look like a 245a. So really, for it supposed to be the original saw, they sure didn't do a lot of research on it. Fans own more accurate saws then what was in this movie. That's just one of my complaints.

  • @k3ith29

    @k3ith29

    2 жыл бұрын

    The kills and gore was good but the og movie never relied on that. It was a more bizarre psychological trip. Alot of the newer movies also seem to miss the occult undertone of the first 2 movies. I also preferred leatherface in cowboy boots as odd as that sounds.

    Very surprised to learn this was written by the same guys who wrote the Evil Dead remake & Don't Breathe, I liked both of those (sorry for the unpopular opinion lol) Totally agree that the movie looked really nice, the cinematography/art direction was top-notch, also the kills were really well done & creative. But... the "plot" & script were nonsensical & the dialogue was TERRIBLE. We all have to suspend disbelief at times during movies, but this film asked too much of that lol And so many of the plot holes & bad writing could have easily been workshopped/fixed very easily (like you said), it was frustrating to watch. This was my first Haunted Hippie video & it was really well thought out, articulated & entertaining. Peace!

    Great review and as always a lot of humor. I agree with everything you said. Nothing in the movie really make sense. How has Sally been hunting LF for that long? He's been living "next door" the whole time. Currently as one of 3 inhabitants in the town. They could have skipped the TCM connection and just make it the low budget entertaining slasher it actually is.

    For TCM (2022), I expected nothing more than a fun, none sense, gorefest of a movie and that’s what I got with some good acting from the main leads who played the sisters, great cinematography, and this version of Leatherface is probably the scariest. I actually rank this one 2nd place right behind the original. I give it a 3.5/5. With the TCM series, all the sequels imo are nothing more than gory, fun, messy films (except for the 3rd one which was a complete bore to me). Nothing can top the original in terms of quality, uneasiness, and its raw visual presentation. Thoughts on doing a requel comparison video between Halloween (2018) and TCM (2022) or a carnage candy comparison video between TCM (2022) and Halloween Kills?

    I don’t think they really understand the character of leatherface. He’s a coward at heart and is driven to kill by his family as his last resort because he’s more afraid of them than he is of his victims. He would’ve either attacked immediately or run away with his chainsaw between his legs. He is not Jason

And omg what you said is so true : they could have done way more with this movie since it looked sooo gorgeous , one of the best good looking TCM movies . I would have preferred Lila being terrified of chainsaws ? A good idea could have been , maybe she saw a crazy relative k*illing with a chainsaw ? Loved the many kill scenes, great well done effects. I was going to post my comment on your mistaken review, what were you talking about. You're usually spot on to my thoughts about on a flick. Well I watched your review again and yes you got it right. Anyway, Leatherfaces keeper, mother or whoever is Alice Krige. She did a movie, Ghost Story in 1981 that I thought was so good I recently found and purchased at a local thrift. There's no gore but a good story that you might check out if you've not seen. Oh, I agree with you, a wasted potential. Movie really looked good, and had some cool things here and there. But a cool look and well done kills are not enough for me anymore. Maybe as a stand alone silly but competent made slasher it was just okay. But for a legacy sequel it was bad uninspired and made little sense. With all due respect for it's creators but making a good looking movie it's not that hard nowaydays. Access to technology and competent people is rather easy. But as we can see writing and then directing a simple but good story is still more sophisticated art

    This movie felt like it had identity crisis. On the one hand it wants to be campy with some super over-the-top kills, and satirical with the traditional Texas town vs. cringey influencers conflict. On the other hand, they interject so many misguided buzz word Issues™ and try to play it so straight it falls on its face. I would've liked it a lot more if they either committed to the camp (like TCM2), or made a straight up slasher without clumsy attempts at being topical.

    I found it surprisingly entertaining. It felt like they tried to squeeze every idea they had into the film, which makes me wonder if a lot of stuff got cut, or they just didn't bother fleshing any of them out. In a weird way, this kinda added to the fun as I no idea what was gonna happen next. Also, what is your view on the post credit scene?. I took it as Leatherface being mortally wounded and returning home to die, but I guess it could open the door for another film as well.

    Honestly no TCM will ever top the 2003 remake and its prequel for me, it just has the perfect setup where no matter where the protagonists go as long as they're in that part of Texas they're going to run into another member of the family or someone who supports them and that makes it much more terrifying for me because unless you catch someone else passing through the town to get out its absolutely hopeless and Leatherface is just the executioner for all of the people who decided to pass through that area with the rest of that network just herding them towards that end. If I had to get someone into the series I'd recommend those for the story because it's passable at least and the dark humor (Hoyt admonishing Leatherface for sloppy work when amputating a leg being one of my favorite scenes) without ever fully turning into outright parody. Thats just my opinion though, I liked the first 2 TCM movies and besides the 2003 and 2006 ones I wouldn't have gone near any of them if I didn't already enjoy the series because its just so hit or miss, didn't like this one either but if another one comes out I will probably watch it anyway just because I want to see what they'll do with Leatherface (the one constant in all the movies that I can cling onto) but I would not recommend this to any of my friends as an example of the series. Didn't mean to get that into it when I started typing but yeah, overall didn't like the movie, liked your opinions on it, like Texas Chainsaw in general and like the content on this channel

    I’m a massive TCM fan. Leatherface and Jason were the shit, sorry, country boy, and life long nerd, who was picked on until 18. so it’s cathartic to see the picked on demographic be damn near unstoppable. This installment, was pretty rotten. The political stuff was muddy as shit, an the plot went nowhere. Upside, Leatherface was badass, and this is the only time we’ve seen an actual massacre in a TCM piece. Once again, bang up job, love your work.

    This movie is literally the "Halloween kills" of the TCM franchise. A shit plot with dumb characters, gruesome kills, a legacy character whom the killer doesn't give a shit about that does nothing & a badass killer in a mask who is supposed to be human but then by the end isn't human because reasons. Just like Halloween Kills did I think it was a good move? hell no but it entertained me while watching, mostly just laughing at the ppl getting sliced up.

    I expected a disaster after reading the test-screening reviews (which were probably done by the Flanders family) but I got a freakin`awesome Leatherface adventure that is much better than the disappointing Halloween Kills. Sure, it can not touch TCM 1 or 2 (ntohing can) but it is slightly better than 3D and The Beginning and way better than the rest of the franchise (IMO of course). Movie kept me entertained from start to finish. Cinematography and sets were great. Characters did their job: It was "City Slickers meets TCM". The bus massacre was hilarious and disturbing at the same time. With the amount of (positive) buzz the movie is currently getting I guess the chainsaw will be turned on again soon... just put in in theatres again. And I hope to see a physical release of TCM22.

    I'll basically post the same thoughts verbatim that I did in another review video.. the gore and kills are great if that's your thing.. the cinematography, colors and lighting were great.. the acting was fine.. Leatherface looked good.. but the writing and story wasn't great, especially in the 3rd act.. I didn't like how they wrote Sally's character.. and the way Sally survived that Leatherface attack completely took me out of the film lol.. I didn't really care for the final moment either.. overall I thought that the film was okay.. some really good stuff and some really bad stuff.. I'm ultimately indifferent.. I'll probably rewatch it in October..

    This movie has flaws. No denying that. But I loved this film. It is a blast. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. This version of Leatherface is probably the scariest, pissed off and fucking brutal. That bus scene holy shit balls what a bloodbath. This is probably the most goriest movie iv ever seen. Lets be honest here this franchise has always been all over the place with tone nd writing and all that since day one. Love the Kills. All the hate this film gets is undeserved imo. In fact this film is everything Texas Chainsaw 3d should have been. The last two films in this franchise where dog shit and this Masterpiece is a huge major improvement and the best since the 03 remake and its prequel. I went into this film expecting to not like it but edded up loving the hell out of it. A fun gory bloodbath.

    Leather face's mom is his orphan mother. Not real mom. But the story don't add up. As a fan of tcm, I'd take another one and I thought this one wasn't nearly as bad as some people say it is. It was fun, gory and made people talk about it. That's typically what horror movies are about. That end scene was brutal and I'd watch the whole movie just to watch that again for the first time. It caught me by surprise and shocked me a little, it was overly realistic.. Cut like butter. After they made more TCM films after the next generation should tell ya, there will be more after this. This film was so much better than that pile of shit. Kind of like watching halloween season of the witch and asking if they will make more halloween movies. So many more. . Now I wrote a book for ya. Would like to hear what you have to say about jeepers creepers franchise along with pumpkinhead in the future.

    I might be in the minority but I LOVED it. I just completly disrigard its a sequel and just go with what this movie gives you. Kinda disagree on the school shooting points tho. The school shooting is the whole motivation of the sister to create a new town. Also her characters overcoming her fears kinda thing. Completly agree on Sally being useless but this is even more of a problem for me in the Scream 5 and everyone loved that one.

    Bad Movie, Good Kills, Cheesy acting, Bad set design. This movie didn’t build up any tension at all. I absolutely HATED they brought back Sally. Very unnecessary. We’ve already had a continuing storyline from the 1974 events with sally, I don’t get why this was repeated again. The 2013 version was bad, but entertaining. They did nothing interesting or new in the 2022 version that felt important or positive for the film. I give this movie a 6 out of 10. It definitely felt more silly than most of the other franchise films we’ve had in the past. Not the worst film, but for me it falls around the 2nd or 3rd most unlikable film so far.👎🏻

    The ending is actually genius to get a sequel because when the one girl puts the hat on that was Sally is actually hinting at her becoming the next Sally meaning she is going to hunt him down for the rest of her life and then her sister gets killed and at the end it shows him holding her head and staring at the other sister that is him saying I will see you again remember me and then we get the sequel and it goes from there

    The film was fine, most peoples arguments against it make no sense. So it looked good? It was decently acted? The kills were good? But oh people are mad at the story? Haha has anyone everyone seen a TCM with a story? Kids go where they shouldn't, they die. The end. It was fun and the takes on social commentary have been completely blown up. It was made by a Texan who has seen the migration to his home state by " the woke" generation. Wasn't heavy handed at all but subtle. The plot line didnt live or die upon agenda. Better than the last 5 sequels in the franchise and still better than Halloween 2018 and Halloween kills and Halloween ends. But good video!!

    I was LITERALLY SCREAMING at the "say my name" bullshit. Not an exaggeration when I say these were the stupidest characters I've EVER seen in a modern horror movie. IMO the original TCM was the only truly good one in the series and this sequel is a step backwards in nearly all ways imaginable. It has none of the atmosphere and creative visuals that made the original so good. A totally toothless bore.

    This film is just a mess. There's no justified explanation for anything this movie did other than sloppiness. I was entertained though. I loved it for various reasons and hated it for others. I think we're moving towards an era of horror where we don't need trauma or deep backstories in all of our films, and that's okay. It clearly stands out as wasteful runtime when you try to force it.

  • @DesiSJ

    I think this movie wanted to be Halloween 2018 so bad. They needed something to give the girl PTSD so they didn't just throw it on Sally and be too much of a copycat and this was the route they chose. School violence. They could have literally used any means of her being scared of guns (A robbery, home invasion, etc), but they chose a hot button topic and it did nothing at all for the plot. I didn't even think about the idea of her going into a theater. That just makes it all the more wtf-y. The Sally thing is when you get JLC off of Wish. There was no history there. For Laurie...Michael stalked her. He invaded her space. For Sally and her friends...they kinda broke into the land of crazy's house. Had they stayed out they wouldn't have been where they were. (Not saying they deserved to get hooked and all, but you know what I'm saying, LOL). The weight of the situation isn't the same and lets be real, Sally is NOT a final girl people are invested in. If they were to retcon Scream from part 1 or Nightmare from part 1...you would be invested HIGHLY in Sydney and Nancy. Even Friday pt 2...People would care about Jenny. They proved how little they cared about it by how little they fleshed it out and then just as quick as she came in...she was gone. This seemed like a cheap way for them to try to put some heart in a franchise that just doesn't seem to have one. The thing with the confederate flag...I feel like that was more to make the Tropey guy seem more tropey only to find out that was actually a good dude and people were caught up in stereotypes. Again...too heavy for TCM without the talent to back up the writing. I will say that his death was probably one that sticks out because I have an issues with bones breaking and that leg kick...OUCH. I actually found one of the most cringy scenes being that the older sister accused the younger sister of sleeping with Mr. Tropey and seemed mad at her for it when, if this girl is as young as they make her seem, had that happened, blame would have been on Mr. Tropey for taking advantage of the minor. (Was she a minor? In either case, that whole sentence and implication was unnecessary.) However, that being said, I did enjoy it for what it was and was pleased with the kills and the overall look of the movie. I appreciate the more brutal Leatherface. It definitely isn't the worst of the franchise, but like you said...the bar was low. They just had to make something semi coherent.
