    The good news about the beaver-sourced "natural vanilla" is that it is substantially more expensive even than normal vanilla so you'll really only ever find it in expensive perfumes. It's a shocking truism on the internet, but in all practicality it's not something people have to worry about anymore given the economic realities of each source of vanilla flavoring.

    I know this video is a bit older but...... The Fruity Pebbles work great if you do a 50/50 to traditional rice crispy cereal. It helps to calm down the overly fruity flavor. Works great with Cocoa Pebbles too. I also forgot to note, add a pinch of sea salt to the marshmallow as it melts will cut the sweetness

    Here in England, wheats are called Wheetbix. They look a little different, (but it's essentially the same thing) but it's a very normal thing to have for breakfast. People often have it with warm milk, and sometimes people microwave it!

  • @moodycowcrafts4862

    @moodycowcrafts4862

    Жыл бұрын

    The ones they use in the video are clearly mini *shredded wheats* though - not wheetabix at all! Wheetabix is a completely different kind of cereal to shredded wheat: one (wheetabix) is made of compacted flakes in a block and the other (shredded wheats) is a package of thin twigs. The taste, texture and look is so different I don't understand how you equate them to being 'essentially the same thing'

  • @cubisttubist

    @cubisttubist

    6 ай бұрын

    @@moodycowcrafts4862 I think they were talking about when Katelyn mentioned the "one big loaf" wheats which I was shocked that they found weird because apart from the slight change of flakes to twigs the concept is exactly what wheetabix are and they are extremely normal to have for breakfast here in the UK!

    Tbh if you want them to be crunchy ( like almost all of them ) instead of trying by volume you should add the cereal by weight ( and having always the same weight by batch ) because some cereals have more surface area than others and so take more or less marshmellow to be covered, but except that, good video !

    Yeah, but the artificial vanilla (aka vanillin) still comes from wood pulp or crude oil. It's literally a by-product of paper making (Lignin, the stuff that yellows cheap paper if it's not removed) and in the 70s and 80s, a single pulp and paper mill in Thorold, Ontario supplied 60% of the world market for synthetic vanillin. (yes, this still counts as "natural") OR left over from making gasoline and plastic, approximately 85% of vanillin is synthesized in a two-step process from the petrochemicals guaiacol and glyoxylic acid.

Cream cheese softens pretty easily, you can whip it a little to fluff it up and chilling it keeps its softness while keeping it held together. Maybe a bit of mozzarella mixed in for stringiness? and obviously-pretzels! I think the little cube bite-sized ones would work best, you don't want big chunks.

If you're having a family cookout, rather than having kids around a firepit with sticks and flaming marshmallows and stuff, I find it far less stress to just make a big pan of S'mores bars for everyone. Absolute favorite though is the "no-cook cookies" that are basically chocolate, oatmeal, and peanut butter.

    I quite like doing this with plain cheerios, add a little peanut butter to the marshmallow, and when adding it to the form, throw in some chocolate chips if you like. With the fruity pebbles, do 1/5th fruity 4/5ths regular rice crispies. You get a 'fun-fetti' look with the punch up of flavor/sweetness without it being overpowering. Still, if you're making them for kids, the Fruity Pebbles are the absolute best, kids love the rainbow treats and don't care about extra sickly sweet. For adults, coat them in dark chocolate to counter the sweet a bit and make them much easier to handle.

    Corn Flakes - we started using this when I was a kid. More flavour than Rice Krispies, but no sugar coating like Frosted Flakes. SO yummy!

    @@EvanAndKatelyn2 One idea you could try is mix in some chunky peanut butter with the marshmallow mixture, then mix in the rice crispies like usual. After you mix everything and place it in the pan, drizzle melted chocolate on top, then place the whole thing in the fridge to cool till solid. I've done this before and it was soooo good. ❤🍫🥜🤤

    When I was in elementary school, there was a mom that whenever she made rice krispie treats she would throw like a cup of fruity pebbles in with the regular rice krispies and make the treats that way. Always a winner! Also on a side, who eats non-treatified rice krispies on a regular basis? I have a theory that the majority of rice krispies sold are for non cereal related activities.

    I feel the rice puffs are the best, and you can mix it with dried fruit, nuts, you also have so many flavours , honey, chocolate, cinemon, peanutbuttter, yogurt, fruit flavours, cheese.. I love the cheese bacon crips. you can also use flavourd marshmello´s or sugar free marshmallows , or make it without marshmallows but use Almond butter, maple syrup

    We do "holly candy" every year for Christmas, and it's basically a plain corn flake krispie treat but the marshmallow is dyed green and you pull it out in clumps with your (clean and buttered) hands and put red mini M&M's on top for the berries (or mini red hot cinnamon candies if you like it spicy and not chocolate). So corn flake-based cereals should rice krispie really well if you do it right (I have not finished the video yet so let's find out...)

    Melting peanutbutter into the mashmellows before adding the rice krispies truly does make it better! You don't have to make a video of it, but you should try it. :) Also if you melt some chocolate chips and smear a thin (no more then 2mm) layer on top of peanut butter krispies, you may in fact find your S tier!
