Tesla Terafactory Texas Update

Welcome back everyone, it’s Randy! Before we get to today’s footage, I want to give you all a quick update. Long story short, about 3 weeks ago I woke up with some pain and stiffness in my shoulder and a week and a half later, I couldn’t move it at all and the pain was excruciating. After two doctor visits, a steroid shot, and prescription pain medication, this past Saturday was the first time over the past week in which the pain has noticeably subsided and my range of motion has been improving each day. I’ll still have a procedure done a week from today on it to help it not reoccur in the future. All that being said, I seriously needed to take a break as I’m juggling full time work, a wife and kids, filming the site 4 times a week prior to my kids football season starting which I am currently coaching, and a house move that’s been a long time in the works. We will actually be moving this Friday and packing has been a huge challenge due to my shoulder issue and after I finish this video everything will go into boxes. I’ll be posting hopefully sometime possibly in the middle or towards the end of next week, so just give me a little more time to recover and finish my move and I’ll also have one more week left in our football season and should be able to get back to some sort of normal schedule again. As always, thanks for the support and well wishes given on all of the other Quad Squad channels. You guys are awesome!
As for today’s footage we see a huge amount of progress made all over the site in just the week in which I didn’t cover the site. Lots of finishing touches are being made around the perimeter with infrastructure and the final shell of the building is mostly completed for all of the wall panels that can be installed at the moment.
Here are today’s key takeaways:
- The north end shows major updates with the road paving, guard rails, and curbs on all roads of the intersection of SH130 and HGR. It was immediately noticeable how smooth the roads were compared to just a week ago. You can’t see it, but underneath the bridges, the sticky temporary lane markers are placed until the final ones are painted. Near the building, we see a nearly finished water vault box has been assembled in the excavation we saw in my last video.
- The GigaPress area shows all wall panels installed for both the angled corner and north facing sections. On the east side of the building, we can see many castings stacked in rows outside.
- The BIW area continues to have new sections of concrete poured on the east side and more prep to form and pour the remaining loading dock sections.
- The East detention pond has been reshaped and graded from the triangle we previously saw to a more trapezoidal shape.
- The Stamping area shows the finished angled corner section of concrete and a good view of the southeast corner as a whole.
- The southern gap north end shows huge progress with steel being erected as all steel columns have been placed and steel decking already covers half of the structure on this end. We can see the first few columns and beams that will run down the center of the south end and most of the side and center footings have been completed and fill soil put into place except at the far south end.
- The south detention pond updates are still in progress and the shape is more prominent as they continue to regrade it and add more fill soil all over this area.
- A view from the south of the west side of the GA building shows the full shape of the windows on the top row and that the vast majority of the top row of windows have been installed. The reflections are pretty bad this time of day, but we can actually see a fully assembled Model Y suspended from the internal structure of the building on full display. Looks like preparations for the Texas festival are already underway!
- We wrap up with a look over the far east side of the site and the Bobcat Project area, where we can continue to see a staging area packed with steel deliveries and all sorts of other materials and containers.

Hi Randy. I'm a doctor and it sounds like you need to get an MRI of that shoulder with a thought to seeing if you need a shoulder arthroscopy. It may be anything from a rotator cuff tear to simple tendon calcification, but there are very effective treatments available and you shouldn't just continue on trying to live with the pain.

Pain stimulates the immune system to go to where the pain is. There, the white blood cells find damaged tissue, which they don't recognize as being "one of their own" (because the immune system never normally sees the insides, the guts of cells, and so doesn't recognize what they are). Attacking them as foreign invaders, this slows and can stop the healing process. In spinal cord injuries, suppressing the pain can apparently make the difference between walking again, and being wheel-chair-bound for life. So, yes, don't ignore pain. It's not good for you. (Something to do with inflammation and the release of histadines; the white blood cells are attracted to the inflammation. I don't recall the details.)

Constructive criticism should always be welcomed even if you ignore it, if not for viewers there would be no content and repetitive content like Jeff wastes my time and as his videos flyby fast over the same waypoints it is hard to notice changes. I have only so much time in a day to watch videos and would rather pilots miss a few days or even weeks than post wasting my time. The old adage quality over quantity is important in this game. Saying that it is nice to see randy back.

I had an episode of adhesive encapsulitis or "frozen shoulder". Excruciating pain. If I tried to reach in a back pocket, the pain would take me to my knees. Lotsa physical therapy made it better. Then two weeks later the other shoulder did it. Fortunately, steroid shots and therapy made it go away, but if I tried to reach in a back pocket, the pain would take me to my knees. Hope you have as successful a recovery for whatever happened to you. We've missed you!

Yes, my doctor said that the Calcific Tendonitis I had could develop into frozen shoulder and the pain was so bad a couple of times where literally moving my arm an inch was excruciating. Glad you can relate but I'm sure we both wouldn't wish that kind of pain on anyone as it's one of the worst feelings one could experience for sure!

@@patrickkenny2077 Could be. My monitor sucks! Couldn't tell for sure if that was a fresh mud slab or water on top gravel. They recently placed a layer of gravel in there. If they can get the rebar mat down there, and the concrete slab poured, and it has time to set.... Great! Otherwise, they're screwed if it rains.

right about the 12 minute mark, you're seeing the construction changing to a truss system instead of columns and beams. typically used when spanning a wider area, yet still able to support heavy loads. a little edit here just to clarify, just finished watching Joe's update and he mentioned a model Y hanging from the "trusses". What he is referring to are called bar joists, technically they could be called a truss, but the bottom chord does not connect at the ends, I've never heard them called a truss on any job I've been involved on , just bar joists.

  • @eltonray2934

    @eltonray2934

Many times tradesmen refer to things according to habit, such as sheetrock, a brand name for gypsum board. Bar joists have a web formed from a continuous bar bent into shape to form a truss. After reviewing several construction videos I did not see any bar joists being used, only trusses made up of steel sections welded together.

Randy, 1 comment for future reference, the remark about the watervault at 02:00 is not correct, the excevation we saw in your last video was another one, that one is already finished and covered, then they started a new excevation next to it, that is this one. Dont blame you for missing that but just so you know.

You are correct, the first vault measures 16' X 24' and designated as secondary paint storage. The primary paint storage vault was installed in paint several months ago. The newer vault is 16' X 40' and the civil drawings did not specify it's use but it could store something from the cell manufacturing area. I doubt that either will store water.
