Tesla Terafactory Texas Update

Hey everyone, it’s Randy! Today’s footage shows a couple of pretty major updates happening at the site in addition to the smaller updates and tasks we’re accustomed to seeing worked on. The first of the major updates is that the new pieces of steel we’ve been seeing piled up in the southern gap are now being erected and at a significant pace! The second of major updates is that we’re also seeing wall panels being placed on the outside of the northeast corner structure which houses the GigaPress area. There’s a lot to cover so let’s get right into it.
Here are today’s key takeaways:
- The north end shows the progress on the new lot and we can see that several new contractor trailers have been moved onto the west side of it. The northern gap roof shows that work applying the white membrane atop the poured concrete is well underway at the south end.
- The GigaPress area shows updates for the grade beam extending across the entire angled corner as well as new trenches for conduit being laid. We can see a trailer with a large wall panel present in the northeast corner and along the east side of this area, we see a crane already making significant progress installing wall panels at the south end of this structure, so we are now officially counting the days until we can no longer see the progress of the casting machines being assembled from outside of the building.
- The east side of the BIW section shows that concrete has been poured in the area directly in front of the loading bays. Just south of here, we can see the next section actively being poured as they continue to work to the south. Up on the roof, the stairwell access structure is visible again and we can get a good look at the progress.
- The former robot storage area we last saw being converted into temporary parking is now cleaned up quite a bit more and we see more bumper blocks have been placed.
- The southern gap shows the center row footings on the south end and along the east side of the GA building are still in the process of having forms and rebar installed for future footings. The north end shows steel erection has started in the northwest corner and we can see that wall sheathing has also started to be installed on the newly framed wall north of where the steel is going up.
- The south detention pond is definitely seeing increased activity as we see huge piles of dirt to the southwest and lots of grading and excavation work taking place around it. We also see more of the reinforced concrete pipes being stockpiled near the top of the image.
- The southwest corner shows there to be 2 remaining sections of road left to be constructed in the area for the west side road. Near the building, we can see a new section paved and the path along the south end near the angled corner is being formed next.
- The installation of the bottom row of windows on the GA building’s west side has really picked up and is far outpacing the taller windows, which we can see are one more pane away from having the angled gap below it covered. Across the road from here, we can see work paving this northern portion of the road is in progress and they have already completed a significant portion of it so hopefully they can have all of this completed sometime this week.

Randy, I have been watching the condensing units at 19:58 . Originally there were 3 units located on this floor, now there appears to be 6 units. Possibly as they closed in the plant they have been moving the condensing units that were temporary to this location.

As the walls and windows block off the fresh outside air, it's going to become hot and stifling inside, so they have to get the air ducts up and the air conditioning running.

I think the (new) trailers at the Northwest corner of the site were moved there from the east side of the building (north of the old robot storage lot). @7:55 in this video you see where they used to be IMO. My guess is that they moved them so that they could finish that road (extend it to the west).

Yes it looks like they were relocated! I’ve seen some comments from others that Tesla will be moving from all of the white trailers to office space inside the building within the next few days, so I suspect a lot of the trailers near the superchargers will be removed in the next week or so

That is correct. The seven-wide contractor office trailer was moved, Jeff's videos of 10-1 and 10-2 show the move in progress. A triple-wide office trailer has also been removed, but it seems to have been taken off site.

  • @DavidJohnson-tv2nn

    @DavidJohnson-tv2nn

Reconstruction of the south pond does make room for the 500 ft. extension. But it is work that has to be done anyway in order to complete the stormwater system. The north pond needs to be filled in so they can finish laying the stormwater pipes. @ 12:37 (Bottom of screen) where the pipes converge... A massive new underground structure called a "splitter box" will be constructed. It will manage most stormwater from the building and surrounding roads. Diverting it to the south pond under normal conditions through two new 8' diameter pipes. In heavy rain, the south pond fills, and water will flow through the three river outlet pipes and into the river through the outfall structure (to be constructed). More information can be found in the updated site plans.

So find Robbie Showers comment in that video and Joe will have the link posted in reply to him. You have to go through a couple of steps to download the plans but it is worth it. It's a 72 page PDF file. Regarding the new south pond.... More on the south pond shape, size, inlet pipe location, and location of "splitter box" that will feed the pond can be seen on page 52 of the updated site plan. The stormwater system from splitter box to river outfall structure are covered on pages 50 - 58, and 65 - 67. Splitter box details on pages 70 - 72

@@boostav You're welcome! I believe the Cyberwall refers to a new retaining wall to be constructed at the northwest corner of the property. Where the road currently narrows around the corner of the building. The new wall will allow for three 12' wide lanes. Two southbound, one northbound. All will be on Tesla property. The wall location can be found on page 15 and details on page 68. NOT to be confused with the retaining wall on page 67. That is for the new south pond currently being constructed! EDIT: Cyberwall details on pages 68 and 69.

This pond is left over from gravel removal and was here when Tesla bought the land. Now they have pumped it nearly dry and have removed the sludge and are filling it to be above river level. It will be used in the storm drain system. It could have some large fish.

4:25 Dumb question, perhaps, but what keeps the gantry on the bridge crane centered on the top of the side rails? In its present state, there appears no way to allow a rail-centering device to keep the gantry on it's track to either side. What keeps the gantry from simply driving off the rails? [EDITS] 4:55 Views into the stamping area will soon be a thing of the past. In another video (Joe T's?) we were able to confirm that giga-press #3 was an OL6100CS. 10:20 It appears we can call it: looks like column supports for a bridge crane on the first columns installed in alley. Seems plausible that there will be two parallel bridge cranes in this portion of the alley. Thanks for another great video Randy.
