Tesla Terafactory Texas Update

Welcome back everyone, it’s Randy! Today’s footage shows some really cool updates around the site as the workers push to complete many items on their lists before the Thanksgiving break. The work at both of the large detention ponds continues to amaze me with the differences we’re seeing on a daily basis and there definitely is a push to get many of the remaining windows installed around the building. As a quick reminder, this will be my last video for the week due to family coming into town for the Thanksgiving break. Everyone be safe and enjoy the holiday with friends and family!
Here are today’s key takeaways:
- The GigaPress area shows the spaces for the windows facing the north have been covered with plastic and on the ground in front of the angled corner, work has started to create forms so that concrete can be poured here. On the east side of this building, we can see work in progress prepping the ground on this side so that they can then build forms and pour concrete here as well.
- The BIW area shows the finished section of concrete we saw being poured yesterday and we can see expansion joints cut in all of the recently poured slabs.
- The East detention pond vegetation is being planted and we can see a solid effort with the layout of all of the plants and grasses being applied to the area. We also see work being done on the large drainage pipes in the area next to the concrete, as it looks like they will add some bends to join the two sections of pipe next. A look at the overflow drainage channel in this area shows that they have started applying hydromulch to the banks of the channel, starting near the water and working back up towards the factory.
- The Stamping area shows the PSC cranes loaded with heavy equipment that looks like it’s about to be moved onto the modular transporter.
- The southern gap south end shows that the smaller steel beams we saw in the area yesterday have now been added to the structure to make a horizontal section spanning the entire width of the gap.
- Over at the south detention pond, the south wall overflow system looks like the box they were forming is nearly completed, so it’s possible we’ll see concrete poured any day now. The wall area shows lots of fill soil being brought in and graded as the ground around the system is shaped to assist with directing water. The progress on the drainage weir splitter box is still ongoing. We can see a large amount of wood and other materials now in the area so we’ll most likely see additional forms being made in the top section of the box next.
- These red beams caught my attention on the south end of the GA building just to the left of where cranes that finished the steel work were located. Let us know in the comments if you recognize what these might be or their purpose.
- The BCP building window installation is moving quickly as we can now see the bottom row with the majority of the windows installed when there were none on the previous day.
- Lastly, Tesla Road and all of the surrounding roads at the intersections have all had road and traffic markings applied and the entire area is super nice and smooth to drive on!

    I have been wondering how water flow is directed in the big diverter box and now I see it. Water does not freeflow south to the river until the water level inside the box can overtop that maze-like structure. Simple and elegant!

    Though might need to be cleaned out from sediment and other debris from time to time. Didn't realize the design, was thinking it would need gates or something.

    2:27. Red steel. Think these might not be beams. RHS (Rectangular Hollow Section). Flanges at each end more like pipe flanges (open), than base/end plates for a beam or column. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, red has mostly been associated with cranes.

    At 7:19. Change of plans. They're tapping into the original pipes and will most likely dig up and remove the remaining sections. Then that small pit will likely get filled in.

    Old joke: How can you tell when it's an Aggie laying your sod? You can hear them chanting "Green side up, green side up." Aggies are folks who went to Texas A&M University. They are often made fun of in a good hearted way by folks in Texas, especially by alumni and fans of the University of Texas.

  • @musaran2

    Just branding as far as we know. There is a point to be made about it minimizing wall length (for same footprint), but the added complexity does not seem worth it.

    What all feeds the east pond? Is it just the contractor parking lot now? They might be managing it upstream.

  • @DavidJohnson-tv2nn

    @DavidJohnson-tv2nn

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@patrickkenny2077 The north parking lot, north road, northeast road, and northeast corner of the roof (I believe Elton Ray said about 1/8 of the roof area) drain into the pond. That is enough to put a couple feet of water into the pond. They probably have the collection grid under the biofiltration basin connected. But that much water will still make the pond difficult, if not impossible to work in until it dries out. The only reason I could think of for ripping open those pipes is that a failure of the temporary containment above the pond would be even worse.

  • @bobcallahan2322

    @bobcallahan2322

    The east pond is fed from the east and north sides of the plant west of the power lines. These areas are mostly paved and with silt inlet protection on the inlets very little silt will progress downstream. It looks like the pond is basically done.

  • @DavidJohnson-tv2nn

    @@bobcallahan2322 @ 7:34 There are several workers still working on planting. On my crappy screen, can't tell how much has been planted and what is sitting in pots waiting to get planted. Also, the wall separating the sedimentation basin from the biofiltration basin still has to be constructed. The weir still has to be built, but that won't be a concern with the forecasted rain.
