Tesla Terafactory Texas Update

Hey guys, it’s Randy! Today’s footage shows the work done over the weekend and throughout most of the day on Monday. We have lots of new concrete poured, wall panels installed, and most notably, two new massive bridge cranes have arrived and are being staged to the north of the factory. There’s a lot to see, so let’s jump right into it.
Here are today’s key takeaways:
- The north end shows the new lot is in the process of having bumper blocks for parking spaces installed. The northern gap shows what looks to be a large concrete slab that has been poured on the ground floor in the distance. Up above, the roof shows that this section is now fully covered with concrete so now they just have to finish applying the membrane to complete this large section of roof.
- The GigaPress area shows the grade beam has been poured and we can now see rebar and forms placed so that this last remaining section at the north end that needs concrete can have it poured. The east side of the building shows that wall panel installation is having possibly the last panel welded into place to complete the installation of panels on this side!
- The east side of the BIW section shows another large concrete section has been poured to the right of the dumpsters and crane area that wasn’t there last week. Further south, we see in the Stamping section that a large slab has been poured and we can see the next section of it in the process of being poured as well.
- The southern gap’s south end shows work on the center row footings and along both sides of the gap are still in progress and we can see that work to bury the center footings is also underway. The north end shows the latest progress of the steel erecting taking place and we can see that they are currently on the eight and ninth sections and show no signs of slowing down.
- The south detention pond is taking on a new shape and we have several areas of activity to fill different parts of the original footprint taking place.
- The southwest corner shows the smooth transition needed where the 2 different types of materials join has been added to the road and just north of here, we can see new work with the drainage pipe on the west side of the road has started.
- The paved asphalt road on the west side we saw in progress has now also been completed. We’ll have to wait to see what they do to fill in the gaps between the new and older road where the barrier is and also traffic lane markings. The installation of the tall row of windows hasn’t progressed since we last saw them, but the smaller windows on the bottom row and the medium sized windows above those have made excellent progress! We can also see work to install the last remaining wall panels in this area is also happening.
- Lastly, we get a look at two massive bridge cranes with Tesla branding on trucks in a staging area awaiting to be moved into the factory. Which area do you guys think these will be going to? Let me know in the comments below!

The bridge cranes are going here. 4:15. I'm puzzled by how many more crossmembers this has compared to the rest of the bldg. In internal photos of other GFs I've seen there are struts coming down from the ceiling to brace the substructure below. I'm guessing that this is going to be something similar. Thanks, Randy for the great video and the awesome music.

@17:40 I believe they're taking the panels down to fix an error. The top row should be symmetrical with the other side so that when looked at far away the glass design makes a stylized Tesla logo. They were probably just waiting on the new panels to show up.

@ 2:50, By the size of these monsters, I place my bet on the center section on top of those very large and beefy double columns with those large footings. @12:22 you can see two very long, what I believe are the runway beams to support the bridge girders. Option, they seem too wide to span any opening, so maybe these are the runway beams that will sit on top of those long beams @ 12:22. Time will tell.

The bridge crane is likely for the Stamping building. They never delivered the second crane for the central part of the Stamping building. Only one crane where the Schuler transfer press was installed on the west side of the building. That is the only place wide enough. Look back at videos from December. I would expect to see more large crates arriving soon for a second Schuler transfer press system. There is no way that they would deliver a bridge crane now for installation in the unfinished south central pit. That's a few months off.

Randy, I just realized on the West side where they're removing the perimeter panels what's going on. They're going to replace the current panels with the angle panels in order to make the windows symetrical in size and shape. The window design is indeed the Tesla marquis spread across the entire West side of the building. This is why they never install the tall, full height windows in that open segment. One problem they have is that more angle cut panels haven't arrived yet. I suspect they'll arrive soon.

Two things. 1) They are taking down cement panels on the West highway side on the building. I think they are changing the windows to the tall ones or adding in an angled section of windows. 2) Only one gantry crane, not two gantry cranes. It looks like a heavy duty double bar gantry crane. Giga Berlin has one. It is pretty long. I suspect it will be installed in southern gap where there is only one row of center footings. That is the only place big enough. Also the necessary cranes will be available when the steal erection takes place.

Hi, Rady the tall windows north end is changing. In my opinion a Change Order probably has happen, they never look good from the beginning. The relation between the small to large windows was to much of a jump. So probably what we are looking at is a CO in progress and they are removing concrete panels to later add new ones, with a different inclined angle more likely mimicking something similar to the south end to create a gradual slope to the transition in a link of 4 Concrete panels section that they removed in the weekend. that's my humble opinion

So, I'm trying to translate what you are saying. Is this right? We see two large red "Tesla" beams. Let's assume these are to be installed in the South alleyway. So these two beams will be installed, if in the south alleywyay, from east to west, and a third component, not yet here or visible, is hung between the two that will be the pulley system to lift and lower things? I believe that is just one overhead crane as there is a traveling section that goes on top of these. We should see a lot more of these coming soon . The new steel looks as if it has track supports, possibly three cranes in that new space. Also the footers in the center look like the ones that the precast concrete supports where placed on. Be nice to zoom in to those. Great progress thinking that next would be Stoneage lots being paved as this plant is going to need a lot of materials to build cars, trucks at the pace everyone is hoping for especially since the supply chain and trucking is slowed down.

I'm not denying the possibility that there will be bridge cranes at the south end of the south central part; but if that's the case, the columns there will have to be reinforced concrete columns; and where are they? They should be arriving *before* the bridge crane(s) they support. Nah. Look at 6:09; *that* is where this bridge crane goes.

In all of the construction they have evenly spaced expansion joints for thermal expansion and settling. At these junctures they use double columns which isolates each section. Starting in stamping they have two parallel assembly lines that extend all the way through paint. The West line is now being constructed and is about complete. The flow enters paint on the first floor and exits into GA on the second floor and then lowered down onto the battery / suspension "sled" and then to final assembly moving South. What will be manufactured on the second line ?

That was my first thought but these look much larger than the ones we've seen installed there, BUT it's possible the west side of the structure is wider than the east side that's currently in operation.

@@TerafactoryTexas I do not recollect the east and west side looking significantly different in the casting area. I thought that all the stamping area bridge cranes were installed, and all the bridge crane rails spotted in the battery area looked smaller so where could a larger one be going. ONLY larger space I can think of is under the space frame roof in northern big gap infill area. Did anyone spot rail mounting points or rails in this area? Only thing I have to pick this location is the extended clear width.

There is not a place we can yet see that has crane rails installed ready for a crane. I also think that the casting spans are too short for this new crane. I also think the north center crane span is too short. I am thinking that it must go in stamping on rails we cannot see. They would want to get it at least up on the rails before production starts in that area. It does not make sense to store that crane on site so it will be installed soon.

Where are all the parts???????? If they are getting ready to build some cars we should see a large volume of delivery trucks with parts.

They’re not getting ready yet. Still a few months away. They haven’t even finished the roads around the building, or the cement parking lots connected to the building. Low volume production will start by the end of the year.

They have a staging area across the highway/tollroad. They only showed it for a second on this video. On the Annual meeting, musk actually said they were flying parts around just to keep the factories moving. So Im sure they aren't dying to get production moving if they cant keep parts for the factories they have running already

I'm guessing they plan to install slanted windows and new slanted wall panels, to balance the slant to the south. End up with a sort of T image on the west wall.
