I was good to go for a replacement until I saw the CLAW. Now I'm scared!

😂 it's a simple tool. I know it doesn't look it. It's called a gear puller. Or a pulley puller. 3" I believe

Awesome Video man!! I’m thinking about just having them install it right off the bat lol
Thanks, I'm doing this same job in the morning. I ordered the low gear option. Guess I don't need to replace the stock rear sprocket now with a larger one.
💪Nice solid ⚡ ebike 😍 Good show👍
Good info! Waiting on my 219 kit. You said the primary belt to chain is 3dB louder, and also going from belt to 420 chain on rear is "twice as loud". Funny...every 3dB up doubles the loudness.
Engineer here, in the part where you talk about the sound increase before installing. You said this only increases the sound 3db where the 420 "doubles" the noise. Well technically every 3db doubles the noise(its a logarithmic scale, not linear). I think its a marketing when they use the db increase bc it doesnt sound like much but it is a substantial increase. Id be willing to accept the noise of broken belts though. Its already quiet compared to a dirtbike so still a win

Hey boss, I know it’s a bit late for response. I was just curious though, so are you saying a 420 is still much better than a 219. I thought maybe there might still be some benefit, such as lower resistance with 219. Doesn’t every 219 kit come with dual sprockets? They seem weaker.

@@standeman32 Ive asked that question as far as drag recently(mainly belt vs chain) and most info point to chain being more efficient(A good bit too actually as you have to have higher tension so it creates more drag in the bearings) but I didnt check 219 vs 420 as I wanted most reliable setup. That said most 219 kits now that have single piece sprockets(I think luna is only one with terrible two piece). My issue was more with it stretching but not sure how much was bc of sprockets vs the chain itself as there are different grades of chain too(some even have oring option too). I think lower power setups the 219 would be ok but like I said Im all about reliability and less drag so I run non oring 420 all around and I can carry one extra 420 section for primary and master with me for trail side repair as needed for either primary or secondary.
Thanks , top video
Bruhhh that clip was hilarious
Is this suppose to make a bunch of racket on free rolling
How did u pull off the motor belt sprocket
Broke my belt at 300km, now I have chain, but sound is like a saw. What you think about noise?
Nice!
I just change the belt every 1000 miles . Just like a service 👌

Did it feelime any power loss?
Does it work for the ultra bee too ?
Hey bro where did you hear that you're supposed to put two washers than the sprockets and then the remaining spacer washers after Luna Cycles to I tried that and Luna Cycles told me to put three and then the remaining five after the sprockets what do you know about that
What kind of Main gear wheel did you use? Looks awesome 🤩
Hey bro what’s an update on this chain setup? Still reliable?
Nice, video! How dis you feel about the sound increase for the chain? It didn’t sound like it changed much.
@electricisbetter

I think it's great! Hardly an increase in sound and much stronger 💪
Any hints on getting the axle back together with the new chain? Keeping the spacers in position and getting the axle back into the swingarm is a bit tricky. Thanks for the video!

Persistence lol. I tried to get the spaces even as possible to slide in and I used a flathead screwdriver to pride open a little bit.
Can’t believe you are still rocking the stock pegs. Guess they do the trick

Yep. Haven't broken yet 😂
Hi, did you fit the standard or low geared version that luna cycle do, I've got the sur ron conversion on at the moment but it is very loud you can hear it above the final drive to the rear wheel. I'm running standard gearing at the moment just wondering if to get the low geared one to give me more low down torque as I use the bike more for riding local trails.
@electricisbetter

I have the standard gearing one. It will be a bit louder then the belt
Great video - thanks for posting! Totally incompetent mechanic here - what was the tool that you used to pull the primary belt drive sprocket off the motor?
@electricisbetter
4 жыл бұрын
It's called a pulley puller. I believe it was a 3incher
Awesome video 🤣🤣🤣 OooNoooo 🤦♀️😁😁😁👌
'It's not that loud!' ...well without rear sprocket or main drive chain on that's slightly optimistic 😅 every single chain conversion sounds like a bag of spanners in comparison I do believe. What are the benefits? Longer life expectancy & slightly more durable to entrapment?
I'm interested to see how the drive sprocket holds up. I had a chain drive on a 49cc gas bike, and had to change to belt because the sprocket would disintegrate in no time.

Small sprockets wear quickly for sure. Hopefully he can report back soon on wear, if any.
What tool did you use to pull that counter shaft sprocket

I have watched this video a few times. How much slack/if any do you have on the 219 chain kit? I am having an issue with mine. thank you.
@flaovertosemi5212
Жыл бұрын
I doubt you want much slack. In that span maybe only about a cm of deflection. Maybe less? Definitely don’t need much tension though. I have the 420 kit I’m going to install when I get some time. Wouldn’t do the 219.
Do you know is the size on the straight key where it attaches to the motor? Mine magically disappeared on the shop floor.
@ow-my-achilles1106

5mm square.
How many miles on the odometer when the belt broke? I assume you ride mostly woods. These belts don't hold up when they get mucked up in dirt, mud, or rocks.
@electricisbetter

I had 1,200 miles on mine first break
Is there any tension adjustment for this kit or is it just suppose to be loose.
@flaovertosemi5212

You adjust the motor position. Just as with the belt
still worth the upgrade? Debating on the 420 one and this version

I like it alot so far! Its held up nicely ever since I've installed it. I've raced with it 3 times since installing and no problems so far. The only thing Id say I don't like about it is I have to clean and relube the chain alot more than a belt.
How did u get u get the bolt off so easy like that ?

The nut? Use the power of the bike to spin the nut off.
Is the gearing the same? Does it put more power down?

The gearing I put on in the video is the same. But you can change the gearing you want when you are buying it off Luna's website.

The motor shaft nut? Remove it before taking apart the belt drive jack shaft and belt. You can hold the rear brake so the motor shaft/pulley can't turn, and loosen the nut. The same for tightening it, remember to tighten it last. Otherwise, borrow an impact gun and 17mm socket good to go.
dont be fooled, it's nto all sunshine and rainbows. the designers designed this sur ron belt to be protected and covered, it will make cleaning / and maintaing it a hell. and thus if you ignore it you'l have lesss "mileage" on it than a belt ...
Lol that oh no moment
This looks like an absolute nightmare...why this chain wasn't put on before shipment blows my mind.
My surron belt die too after 200km total ride, I think it is not for enduro
