    Good info! Waiting on my 219 kit. You said the primary belt to chain is 3dB louder, and also going from belt to 420 chain on rear is "twice as loud". Funny...every 3dB up doubles the loudness.

  • @mrskywalker115
    @mrskywalker1153 жыл бұрын

    Engineer here, in the part where you talk about the sound increase before installing. You said this only increases the sound 3db where the 420 "doubles" the noise. Well technically every 3db doubles the noise(its a logarithmic scale, not linear). I think its a marketing when they use the db increase bc it doesnt sound like much but it is a substantial increase. Id be willing to accept the noise of broken belts though. Its already quiet compared to a dirtbike so still a win

    Hey boss, I know it’s a bit late for response. I was just curious though, so are you saying a 420 is still much better than a 219. I thought maybe there might still be some benefit, such as lower resistance with 219. Doesn’t every 219 kit come with dual sprockets? They seem weaker.

  • @mrskywalker115

    @mrskywalker115

    @@standeman32 Ive asked that question as far as drag recently(mainly belt vs chain) and most info point to chain being more efficient(A good bit too actually as you have to have higher tension so it creates more drag in the bearings) but I didnt check 219 vs 420 as I wanted most reliable setup. That said most 219 kits now that have single piece sprockets(I think luna is only one with terrible two piece). My issue was more with it stretching but not sure how much was bc of sprockets vs the chain itself as there are different grades of chain too(some even have oring option too). I think lower power setups the 219 would be ok but like I said Im all about reliability and less drag so I run non oring 420 all around and I can carry one extra 420 section for primary and master with me for trail side repair as needed for either primary or secondary.

    Hi, did you fit the standard or low geared version that luna cycle do, I've got the sur ron conversion on at the moment but it is very loud you can hear it above the final drive to the rear wheel. I'm running standard gearing at the moment just wondering if to get the low geared one to give me more low down torque as I use the bike more for riding local trails.

    'It's not that loud!' ...well without rear sprocket or main drive chain on that's slightly optimistic 😅 every single chain conversion sounds like a bag of spanners in comparison I do believe. What are the benefits? Longer life expectancy & slightly more durable to entrapment?

    I'm interested to see how the drive sprocket holds up. I had a chain drive on a 49cc gas bike, and had to change to belt because the sprocket would disintegrate in no time.

    I doubt you want much slack. In that span maybe only about a cm of deflection. Maybe less? Definitely don’t need much tension though. I have the 420 kit I’m going to install when I get some time. Wouldn’t do the 219.

    The motor shaft nut? Remove it before taking apart the belt drive jack shaft and belt. You can hold the rear brake so the motor shaft/pulley can't turn, and loosen the nut. The same for tightening it, remember to tighten it last. Otherwise, borrow an impact gun and 17mm socket good to go.
