This is very good to fine tune the very basics and get the most out of this. This very first swing movement as you teach is taking me some time to get it. It feels a little foreign but then, I’m 61 and many muscles, and whatnot tendons haven’t been used well in a while. The leg movement are talking some programming .thanks.

Excellent instructions but how do you prevent the bag from slamming on your back as you stop it during the half spin?

I *think* I know what you mean! At the 4:30 mark, you can see that when he preforms the “half swing” he keeps the bag nice and tight to the shoulders & back. This produces very little travel for the bag when it comes to a rest on his shoulders. I know that’s not exactly precise information, but it seems that it could be a result of practice and strength. The bag is heavy and you’re swinging it with force, so this will cause “centrifugal force” (A.K.A. The bag will be pulled away from your body, due to the mass & speed at which you swing it). So I would, personally, just keep practicing and focus on very efficient and “tight” form. I’m sure the longer you practice, the stronger your shoulders and trunk will get, and the closer you will keep the back to your body!

I’d like to also add that, at the same 4:30 mark, you can see that when he performs the swing he also times the “flip” or “switching” of his elbow to keep the bag very close to his back. This, again, seems to be a practice thing. As long as you’re able to do a full/half rotation, without any hitches, I believe it will come with time.

What was the weight on that bag? I have a 37lbs one and I keep slamming it on my back. Is it just poor momentum or pure weakness?
