    Man the SCT X3 issues take me back in time lol. I've had some type of a mod motor GT as a daily driver since 2005 and man was I glad when the X4 came out lol. Faster flashes, more memory, etc. That owner was smart too, forced induction is a must for getting power out of a 2v or 3v. My 3v daily was a 07 GT Premium Vert and it wouldn't even top 340whp with full bolt ons and decent cams. Prior to that I had an 02 GT with a 2v and it wouldnt break 300whp with full bolt ons and a stock longblock. Add boost or spray though and the little 4.6s shine; on a 150 shot my 2v made over 500 wtq and I was able to get it into low 12.20s on street tires with bolt ons and spray. My 3v went 11.90s on a bone stock motor and shelf Hellion turbo setup. Of course now my S550 is faster than both my New Edge and my S197 ever was with only a Velocity intake, SW full catless exhaust, gears and a tune. The 4v DOHCs are a different animal indeed.

    You should do some clips of the drive after the tune maybe a couple pulls?

    My Grandson bought a car just like this. He bought it at Koch 33 in Easton, Hecktown Pa. We are trying to find out if this is the same car in this video.

    Hey Jeff, love the daily tune series I mostly work with hondas and in no way would call myself a tuner but I am learning and I like how your series features Import and domestic categories. I have a question about this mustang tune, why did you go with an AFR over MAP especially in a forced induction scenario? This may be a dumb question but I would just like to know more about well basically everything I dont know. Thanks keep up the good work.

    The Ford Mustang PCMs run both speed density and MAF (most years). The way that ford integrated both, there is no need to put the car into a speed density (MAP) based tune like GMs.

    Thanks for the quick response and info. So basically its the way that FORD integrated the sensors to the PCM makes it so you can just tune off of the MAF opposed to the way you would tune say an 8thgen SI by choosing a speed density or mass airflow tune? I do know that HONDATA recently updated their software so you can build a map/tune using both sensors instead of choosing to run a strait MAF or MAP tune. So just to get things straight it is the way the Ford's pcm interprets the data from both sensors instead of the software you are using? Are there any advantages in running a tune off of the MAP, MAF, or an integration of both. Currently on my SI the only thing I use my MAF for is IAT and run a MAP based tune. I know I am trying to make a very complex matter fairly simple but it never hurts to ask. Thanks agian.

    The Ford PCM (mustang) still runs a MAP sensor, and uses it for transient fuel calculations among other things. The MAF is primarily used in the ecu logic, and references not only fueling but things like airflow tables that control the DBW mapping. Some newer Ford PCMs don't have a MAF sensor at all, and are strictly MAP based (most eco boost engines). The programming is super complex, and very difficult to tune in comparison to most anything else for numerous reasons. Most all new cars are MAF/MAP combination to obtain super accurate engine modeling for emissions purposes. Dodge is still MAP based only.

    On a standalone EFI system, such as Holley or Haltech, yes. If there was a way to retrofit a Gen 3 GM PCM to your vehicle, then we could tune it as well using HP Tuners.

    evans tuning, out of all the cars you have tuned which one is the most difficult out of the bunch and then which is the easiest?

  • @EvansTuning

    @EvansTuning

    Ford PCMs, specifically 2011+ are the most difficult to tune. Subaru, Honda and Nissan PCMs are the easiest IMO.
