    I said the same thing. That has to be annoying, but it's understandable that people want to see what's being done to their cars these days. Especially with all of the buffoonery going on in the tuner industry. I like Jeff because he's not afraid to show you what he's doing to your car and how he does it, plus he pumps the weights like I do lol.

    charge by the hour, if they want to pay you to be your friend instead of tuning....although if i was at Jeffs level, id tell them to take a hike for the best tune done in the least amount of time.

    He sounds like a really sharp guy who enjoys what he does and enjoys interacting with customers, I'm the same way. I don't mind if people watch me work, I let them see whatever I'm doing. You can get a wealth of information from people who own the car.

    Custom tuning , custom customer. This is not a dealership. I'm not leaving you alone with my car, I need to interact with the tuner. A good tuner lets you know what's going on. If he doesn't want to tell you anything , go somewhere else. The last thing I want to hear is "don't worry, I know what I'm doing".

    is it refreshing having a customer that's pretty knowledgeable or just more of a nuisance? Either way im looking forward to seeing more of this car in the future.

    dang..Seems like tunning is actually a skill. Similar to being a doctor. Sure 2 people can have their degrees, but one doctor may be a better doctor than the other because he/she may have more ability to look at other things that the other doctor may not see, and give a better diagnosis.

    These Genesis LSX cars are really making me feel different about Hyundai, the chassis is actually quite formidable. I just finished a boosted LS for a customer that went in a coupe and it is a ton of fun. Stock 4.8 shortblock with 6.0 heads, LS9 came and a baby 67mm turbo. The thing made gobs of torque everywhere and it's a solid 10.90 car at full weight. Also, it's funny you talking about the speed density being more forgiving of bad injector data, I used to count my lucky stars B/H series Honda's are MAP cars because so many cars came in for tunes with random 500-750cc injectors sold with no data that I had to dial in. Had they been MAF cars I probably would have killed someone lol. Also I just found these video series of yours while out of work after surgery and it's passin the time greatly, thanks Jeff!

    That's an awesome swap for a Genesis. It almost looks factory under the hood. 320 whp for a 5.3 in factory trim isn't bad at all. Once he gets the turbo put on and tuned it's going to be an entirely different beast. I've seen guys make North of 1000 whp on stock internals with nothing more than valve spring, cam, head gasket, and head stud upgrades. Good work buddy.

    Love this series of tuning vids, even though you are just scratching the surface on the actual tuning process. As a novice tuner myself I'm curious as to how long it takes you to build VE tables. Its easier when you have a good basemap but starting from scratch is very time consuming especially when street tuning .

    HPT pro has a way to feed input from a wideband. It'll tell you where your AFR is and adds the ability to add a table which suggests changes to the VE tables. You copy/paste the % of difference to the primary VE table.

    Kareem Ellebry That's going to be a beast of a setup in a Teg. I have a built boosted B18C5 in my EK coupe and it's making 508 whp on 18 psi right now with a Turbonetics 60-1 Hifi, my only limiting factor is my injectors. I'm tuned on a factory P28 with Crome Gold, but honestly Hondata would be so much better in your case. That's awesome though, post a dyno video when you do get it tuned. I'm really interested to see how it turns out for you. I live near Pittsburgh, but I grew up in Allentown (Upper Macungie).

    Jeff i built my b18c for boost, the rings are gapped for boost as well. Do you recommend breaking it in NA or breaking it in with boost. I keep hearing different things and now im not sure which way to go.

  • @ShellYeah03

    @ShellYeah03

    7 жыл бұрын

    booooooost, you wont hurt it, race engines usually get dyno'd with say 10 minutes of idle, then some half pulls to check stuff out, then around the 5th pull they go wide open and make a full sweep if the tune permits.

  • @maxherman4174

    @maxherman4174

    7 жыл бұрын

    +Mark thanks, im not necessarily worried about hurting it, more so that in worried the rings wont seat right if i run it without boost. The engine is ready but the turbo kit wont be ready for another month or so and i was considering swapping the engine in now to get it out of the way so everything will be ready when the kit is finished. Do you think the rings will seat properly if i run it hard without boost?

  • @ShellYeah03

    @ShellYeah03

    7 жыл бұрын

    yes, they will, as long as you dont have a TON of idle time and light load driving it will be fine, get some drive ability, then start working on some power tuning. If it were me, I would get the boost to it, the ring gaps are bigger than NA and it will help seat them with the boost, with boost ring gaps and NA power pulls it wont have as much compression. either way they will seat, you have nothing to worry about, I would worry it too much if you wanna drive it, then drive it.

    I bought my first 2.0T Genesis with a blown engine and swapped it for the same engine by watching a KZread video. I had never even changed engine oil before attempting that but it worked. The next one I buy will be a 2016 Track trim that I can put an LS engine into. I really loved the car and looking forward to getting another one in a year or two. 🎉
