What I love about ballet: It’s almost medicinal for my anxiety. What I hate about ballet: the constant wish to have been born in a different body that was more ‘esthetically pleasing’ for ballet.

what I love most about ballet is that it makes me feel graceful and somehow always feel better--it's like entering another world. My least favourite part is when I look in the mirror and see I am much less graceful than I want to be and my body does not want to make the lines I wish it would have...

I agree with the comment that I love the beauty of flawless technique, the strength and control of a well trained dancer. I hate that my body has never fit into that mold. Fortunately I never fought against my weight or the shape of my body but my feet and turnout, my natural structure did not lend its self to ballet-that’s what I hated. Especially when I had mediocre training here and there. Such an uphill battle. So I LOVE it when I can find an adult ballet class at a reputable school. I love that they reach out to the community of dancers beyond their company. That former dancers and master teachers enjoy passing their knowledge on to anyone willing to learn and grow. And I hate it when companies/schools do not offer at least one class to the community they serve. I’m a ballet mom now with a little one in class and I find it hard to grab a class because it’s not being offered.

What I love about ballet (all dance) is how hard it is and how free I feel when I dance. What I hate is how adult non professional dancers are not taken seriously.

Ooo! Love: how a wonderfully performed ballet can look effortless. Hate: the toll it takes on your body to achieve that.

I have great administration for athletes and ballet dancers are all that and more. I love how fit and in form they are in addition to being graceful and multi- talented.

I hate that a lot of dancers are too critical and hard on themselves...Enjoy dancing and the absolute top condition of your body and youth... I absolutely love ballet..it was my first love! After endulging myself in bellydancing...i am 37 years old and started ballet classes again..and I am in love again! Just keep dancing💗

Hi Joy, The thing I like best about ballet - beautiful, artistic, and athletic all at the same time. Thing I like least is it so hard to learn and takes a huge effort before you can do anything at all. I have been following your channel for some time now and was very pleased you were hired at BB. I think you bring originality, zest, and strength to all of your performances and I would like to see you promoted and have a long career at BB. I would also like to see you teach ballet and think you would be inspiring in that role with all ages.

Congratulations on passing the personal trainer test! So much hard work, oof, but you’ve always been good at pushing yourself hard. You certainly earned that Saturday! It’s so good to know that you have Andrew, and great to see that Boston Ballet has good facilities for their dancers. That must be quite a change from what you had in Russia? Hope you get a bit more time to relax now that the latest round of studying is behind you!

As a non-dancer the things I love about ballet are the beauty and athleticism and of course the music. The things I hate is that many dancers don’t seem to be paid that well when they work so hard.

When all this blows over and you can come back, know that you can also rent studio space at The Dance Complex in Central Square, Cambridge. I love it there.

I love: the muscular control. I'm not sure what the right words for it are, but I looooove the feeling of good technique/form. Don't love so much: that I'm not skinny enough when I'm eating enough to exist, but when I'm on my air diet and looking really good, I can't perform :( it's a struggle.

See, that's what I hate about ballet. Who told you or decided what looks good and what not? If you are a young athlete, there is usually not (too) much fat on your body. I think that image and weight limit should change.

As a recreational ballet dancer (took lessons as a child/teenager, dance in adult classes now) I: 1) I love the feeling of precise movement to music, the warmth and limberness I feel after class. 2) I hate about ballet: the body image ideal/issues that I see professionals suffer but sweep under the rug. 3) A mild annoyance: I wish there were classes that aren't just barre/center. I want to improve the height of my developpes, the range of my turnout, the depth of my plie, and have "drilling"/bootcamp on movements like turns, waltzes, etc.

Love the flawless lines, of strength, agility, and grace the body can achieve... expressing passion, beauty, emotions from deep within. Don't like the term ''hate''...but I would say that sometimes ''tradition'' of how things have to be done can get stagnant and redundant. It seems like the same ballets have been done over and over again...just like singing the same Christmas carols over and over again...it just gets old.

Film Joy! I don't even like selfies!🤣 Congratulations on becoming certified 🎉 I may wish to look into the same. I enjoyed this video a lot. Ballet... 💗 the beauty, the strength, performances, the classics, the classes! The body one can have doing ballet exercises! 👎the ego of most dancers It prevents so many wonderful things that could happen. The competition within dancers of a company...it is not good. Like a sports team where all the players want to be the star. A team needs to work together. Every individual respect her position and that of the dancer beside her.

Ballet is a form of art that touches me, always has. It takes me out of myself and transports me to a different world for a while, just like any beautifully told story. What I have come to dislike more and more are: 1 the lack of diversity, and 2 the rigid gendering that likely keeps beautiful artists away from dance. I realize classical ballet has a specific look, but there are other pieces that could be more welcoming to dancers of varying backgrounds and body shapes, as long as they are beautiful artists.

Watching some older videos, seem to have a hard time being in a company, especially the more world renowned. I think a sports psychologist or social worker could help you figure things out.

An absolute given: One must start panning for retirement in ones early20s in age. Why? The answer is simple. to be at a retirement age say at 65 years old and one does not have money and comes along a bill for $500 and you cannot pay that bill because of living paycheck t0paycheck represents millions of Americans as we speak. In direct relation to you I direct my opinion. I would strongly advise you to put a plan forth along with skills to enable you to make enough money over the next 30 years. You over the last five years have demonstrated business skills along with ideas to move forward. Other ideas such as becoming a licensed personal trainer along with recent ideas puts you on a path towards the goal of retirement I would strongly advise you to put in place five year plans and accomplish these goals. I am 77 years old and since I was in my 30s effected such goals. Maybe perhaps in 20years you will remember the advice I gave you and say to yourself this old man gave me such advice.
