Thanx Joy, I am a disabled vet and practice Hatha Yoga for my overall well being. I was thinking of using different rollers and balls to just massage, stay loose, and stay in touch with my body and feel good. I was excited to get this notification. More tutorials on these tools would be appreciated. Thanx again!

Yippee! Thanks for this video. I have looked at rollers in the past and not had any idea how to actually use them. Thanks also for the discount code!

Those look nice, and with the large roller being hollow and thus having space to basically store the smaller roller and balls it really seems practical to take to class/the gym/traveling... Could you perhaps share how they compare to rollers from other brands, since I presume you may have used different kinds over the years? And yes, sharing additional exercises and how to do them would be both helpful and interesting! Have a good weekend, Joy! 😊

Thank you so much for this Joy! Super helpful for do many. I hope to try out the GM roller kit soon too! I do have a sort of request/question (more of a request to go as deep as you desire into muscular release therapy, etc. My boyfriend is an ex-athlete (baseball, pitcher; in college- but this was early 2000’s before all of these wonderful recent developments in sports therapy, etc. I show him your recovery routines, your mother’s Harvard educated sports therapy treatments (🙌 love you Dr. Womack!) + I explained how in Russia (& hopefully Boston Ballet still has a form of this...) but: I reference your manual therapist who would “put your body back together” & always sighs in jealousy/ “I want/need that!” I take him to get occasional massages/(attempt some at home, but I lack confidence b/c I don’t know what to do really...we also do occasional chiropractic therapy BUT (he’s the type that’ll hardly take even an Advil unless he’s in dire pain, so that’s not always easy...) NEITHER of us want him on hardcore or Rx pain meds, so I suppose any more general tips like this is super helpful for us both! It’s mainly in his hips: they’re not level with one another - his l left leg is like .5 inches shorter than his right when he’s in pain. Sometimes (and I’ve seen it happen at chiropractor & at home) we have this back massage tool so he’ll lay on a mat and I’ll massage around his hip area to loosen up hips /increase blood flow, and...when we’re lucky his hips will: “what we say: “fall” it’s like this intense almost jarring visible movement of his hips literally falling back into place - as if he’s squeezing his lower half (lower back to his feet & all of a sudden releases/relaxes...I first saw it at our chiropractor & gasped! 😧 (his chiropractor taught me this because it’s not super-skillful it just takes patience/depends on severity) + that back massage (it’s like electrical vibration but not stem, though he loves that treatment @ chiropractor) I can manually move it this tool (like a plug in massage brick with handles 🤷🏼‍♀️ (weird description - haha!) Anything to release hip tension or if your mom ever brings up something that could be helpful to this problem (he’s also 6’3”, so he’s got a lot to hold up...he’s not overweight though, he does sit in a chair most of the day for his job, which is supposed to be lumbar supportive/etc.) The chiro explained it as his muscles almost re-learning to hold his pelvis but incorrectly so, so it’s a re-teaching then the correct way- and once he’s been worked on professionally over time (regularly) his legs do return to even & pain alleviates) it’s more of a time + money thing right now (home repairs essentially equivalent to that of a mortgage lol) Anything to release hip tension or if your mom ever brings up something that could be helpful to this problem but also sitting all day (I think) has caused some upper back thing where his shoulders roll forward. None of this is too severe but I’d like to help him keep it under control if you have any tips/workouts! We’re LOVING your ab exercise video today! ❤️🙏 (Sorry I write you full on books: I deeply respect & value your input.) All our love! ❤️😁

Such beautiful coloring. Do these come in other colors? And is this equipment that non dancers, or people that work out a lot can/should use?

Hi! I hope you don't mind me commenting on the way you performed the exercises. There are 3 mistakes to avoid with a foam roller: 1) don't roll it in two directions! It is like 'sweeping dust up and down' as a German trainer explains (see link below). The toxins should flow in one direction like the lymph fluid, not spread more in the muscles. 2) Do the exercise just once or 2-3 times a week. If you do it more often, it doesn't have more effect. 3) Please roll it very very slowly, never quickly because the liquid of the cells must be moved between them. There isn't much space. It's not like a motorway. If you move too quickly, the body tends to produce collagen which is not good for the muscles because it makes them more stiff. At 3:32 you see how the movement must be done: with pressure but very slowly, millimetre, by millimetre. Finally: 4) the foam roller is too hard. It should give in a little bit so that it doesn't hurt the bones but makes a movement in the muscle like a wave possible. Sorry for my English. I hope you could understand. kzread.info/dash/bejne/kYqqstqIqNG3ZdI.html

Sandra Carli I’ve learned it that way too. The rolling against the venous blood flow can also cause damage to the venous valves, which can lead to varicose veins and can also make the blood “pool“ in the legs and make them heavy.

@@maiafilia3065 there are a lot of Videos and physiotherapists who show it the exactly same way as Joy does. The L&B kind of rolling (in the linked video) should achieve a deep detoxification. Like one of the comments under the L&B Video says correctly: "TimothyHD+ ⚠ Achtung Missverständnis incoming ⚠ Das von L&B gesagte bezieht sich auf das professionelle Reinigen durch FR. Für Entspannen und Lockern der Faszienstränge sind langsame Auf und Ab Bewegungen mit härteren Rollen geeignet." (which means the way L&B does it is for professional detox, for relaxing and loose muscels use hard roles in different directions). So I think it depends on your goal. Work the fascia or reach a real detoxification.
