Hi my name is Victor, I live in Bologna, Italy I just started ballet a year ago just for challeging myself and it backfire because I'm in love it now it became my passion (I started like really late 27, now I'm 28). I've been really hard specially because I've never done anything similar at all, my level of flexibility was almost zero but I'm getting better (really slow) and I'm really enjoying it. I just wanted to write you because you just opened my eyes with something that nobody told me so far and it was about Tours en l'air. Until now it was really difficult for me even do one single turn but after seeing your video HK 2017 Day 2 giving the advice about the back leg I'm able to do it. Thank you very much it was really helpful :)

It is so nice to see you back on a regular basis and enjoying ballet again! I hope you will find joy and happiness in your new company, wherever in the world that might be!

No, I knew that, but I was wondering about the comment above mentioning her "new company" (crosses fingers 😊).

Dear Joy, In a previous video you mentioned you wanted to make alot of changes, maybe even in your approach to ballet. And I have been thinking, ever since I learned about you and started watching your videos. You have such a great discipline to the physical portion, all things related to the body, and its approach to technique and mastery. While that is in and of itself going to put you up on top, you would be even more of a force to reckon with if you approached the ballets the way Gelsey Kirkland did. Have you ever read her autobiography: Dancing on My Grave? (The self-flaggelation aside...) she was a genius not just because of her physical prowess (she had a incredible work ethic like you), but mainly (I think) because she really delved deep into the analysis of her characters. While she was preparing to dance Juliet she read Romeo & Juliet and thought about the characters thoughts and motivations, and that translated on stage! She Was Juliet. I don't know of many ballerinas that do that. I think I saw a video of Kathryn Morgan once stating that she would regularly go to class with a character in mind. Such as, she would choose to one day take class as if she was Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. She wanted to hone not only her bodies abilities but have a since of characterization and imagination. So she might take barre and think: How would Princess Aurora execute a rond de jambe? not how would Kathryn do it...Just some thoughts. The ballet world really is your oyster Joy; the sky is the limit for you. If it were me, I would want to be able to translate the depths of the stories to the audience. I hear Gelsey has a school in NYC now, I bet she would take your call if you wanted to talk to her about this subject? ;)

My PT got two of them. I was relying too much on my shoes after an injury and he made me go on pointe parallel and in 1st position and balance. They worked much better than the big bosu and the stability disc.

Hi joy. Wow. Yes please to checking out all your social media! Allowing us to see your everyday life is extremely humbling and wonderful. Thankyou. Can you tell me what the balance blue thing is you are standing on to stretching your feet. I use a wooden physio wobble board but it is heavy and noisey. The blue thing would be great. Thanks in advance. Love sass in Edinburgh.

So I'm just a ballet-and-russia-loving jogger who has never had a very intense relationship with any sub-parts of my feet...but that looks great for strengthening ankles/achilles/calves for injury prevention!?!?
