Meet Christy & Seth, an adventurous couple traveling the U.S. in their self-converted 2001 Ford E450 Ambulance. They found a way to utilize every square inch of space, while simultaneously repurposing the original electrical wiring & cabinets.
This incredible rig features an indoor/outdoor shower, spacious kitchen, ample storage, & a convertible couch. Christy & Seth have found that although tiny, the functionality & freedom that Mitty the Ambo provides is more than the two of them could have ever hoped for from their life on the road.

12:18 THANK YOU for acknowledging the absolute necessity of having a bathroom on board. 👍 Like you, I just cannot understand people who pretend it isn't a *HUGE* inconvenience having to leave your home to shower/use the bathroom!

This is without a doubt the single most well thought out planning on a roving home I have ever seen! You were so blessed to find your ambulance with the utilities and cabinet setups that it had. God bless and keep on rolling .

I've been watching these builds for a couple of years now and this is by far the most well thought out build to date. Use of absolutely every bit of available space Tetrised to perfection. I was a roadside tech for Braun (out of Van Wert Ohio) in the early 2000's and I'm very impressed with your use of the majority of factory installed electrical components and how you've repurposed everything to fit your needs. Very Well Done you Two! A build you should be incredibly proud of! Zip~

Love the layout! And all decorated so nice. Shower, toilet, big kitchen. You've got everything you need! And even though the diesel cost is equal to a mortgage payment, you're able to travel whenever and wherever you want because you don't have to pay for any extra travel expenses, like hotel, campground, airfare. So worth it!

Having watched many van-life/tiny home video's, it almost never fails that comments are "this is the best build". I guess they all are! LOL I like this one however. I expect my wife would say the same thing, no-way. So I'm not hopeful. She has a plan to renovate every aspect of our house which will take years. Maybe it's because she lived the "small house" live in England which is how many life there, most houses are small.

@jennifersherman8838 - Thank you and great question! The dogs name is, “Atlas”. They didn’t end up covering much on him in the video so here is a little about him if you are interested! His favorite places to relax are on his bed, on the couch, and funny enough on the passengers seat. He is a great co-pilot. He has plenty of toys and treats. His mom spoils him for sure! When he is not inside he loves being outside, hiking, playing in creeks, and definitely the snow! P.S. - Christy was petting Atlas the whole time we were in the interview and his head was on her lap, he was just out of the frame

Great looking build. Have wanted to do an ambulance but as a woman “of s certain age” I don’t know a thing about building the inside. Can’t say I want to pay someone to do it-pretty pricey. Unfortunately it would take pretty much everything I have. Especially since solar panels and lithium batteries would be a must! I would definitely be all in if I knew someone who was able to do all this wonderful stuff but I don’t! Also would probably have to go with gas since I’m on a fixed income. Not interested in paying $5/gal for diesel. Even though in the long run it would be better! Oh well! Vaya con Dios! Be safe and you did a great job!

I am currently working on my own Ambulance conversion. It's much older than most other models I see people converting, (most I see are late 90's up to 2010 models) as it's from 1986. Miles per gallon can be a big issue, as mine currently can only get about 8 miles per gallon, which is about the same as a full size RV. There are ways to amend this though. For about $3.5-4k you can get an overdrive fabricated and custom fitted to your vehicle. The cost would likely be more if I was also relying on a mechanic or other service to install it for me, but I luckily have the means to do that myself. But long story short, an overdrive can improve your fuel consumption by 20-30%. For me that means my vehicle goes from 8 miles a gallon to around 10-12. This doesn't seem like much, but in the long term those miles will add up and you will easily make back the cost of the overdrive in gas savings. If you are doing a conversion of an older ambulance I would highly recommend putting in the money to add some additional fuel efficiency, as well as upgrades to the suspension. Ambulances do great on rougher terrain and are fine to drive shorter distances, but if you anticipate doing a lot of travel via highway, shell out for the better suspension. You want to be comfortable while driving one of these. If you're not, then that can really effect your experience and quality of life.

I REALLY like your build. Since I’m traveling solo my family REALLY wanted me in something they felt comfortable with (a premade campervan). What I have is not horrible but what you have done is what I had imagined - either an ambulance or a small transit bus. I guess you have to have the travel bug in your veins to be able to imagine it. Maybe some day… Question for you. I have some items I had started collecting for my build that my husband would love for me to sell but I’m not done dreaming of my transit/ambo build so for now I’m keeping them but I’m wondering if YOU think this would make sense in a build like yours….I have an LG Sidekick washing machine drawer. It’s intended to be mounted below a large front load machine similar to the pedestal drawers. It’s the same size as the pedestals and slides out like one then the half-circle lid flips up and you can load it and do a small load. I only have the small drawer unit as I understand it could run separately by itself. I wanted to put it in my build and just hang things to dry. Would this be something you would ever consider if you had the unit or could get it (much) cheaper than the $800 price tag? No more laundromats!!!! What do you think? Yeah or Nay on the washer?
