Still having Engine issues - The car is running LEAN - SRT-4 Red Dead Redemption Episode 03

In todays video just a quick update on the progress of Red Dead. I had very little time the last weekend to look into this. I tried a few things in the video to fix the car running lean. Check out in the video how its running and stay tuned for a future video where I do a deeper dive into all the other issues we will work through.

Are your fuel filters black? Have you ever pumped gas and the handle clicked and you kept clicking to get maybe an extra 20 or 50 cents in the tank? If so, the charcoal canister is your issue.

Hey there! So I dont know much of the history on the car other than it sat for years so its possible previous owner topped off. I had already replaced the pump with an OEM style pump. It is possible the evap side is having issues. Sadly I have been too busy to mess with it but its on the list to get some attention soon. I appreciate the insight. Personally I never top off the vehicle as I know the damage it can cause if fuel goes into the canister. But not everyone else knows better :( .

Mine just keeps doing it and then seems like it loses fuel . I’m hoping to tear into it tomorrow and see if I can figure it out it

Start and stop your car 3 times real quick on off on off on off and see what codes it's throwing

I had read the codes and the only one that keeps popping up so far was the air temperature sensor and it popped when I pulled the 02 sensor . I’m going to keep the battery hooked up soon and just keep letting it run to see if something else pops up . So far though it’s like the car has no idea what’s going on .

Main problems was a faulty upstream 02 sensor as well as the fuel pump sock was clogging the pump . Definitely a combination of things but the upstream 02 being bad kept killing my fuel trims . I did find a few small vacuum leaks including the intake manifold and throttle body . But those were killing the csr.

@@JustFixinGarage makes sense although it's weird that it doesn't throw a code. I just had the fuel pump and sender out and I double checked everything for that clogged fuel filter and fuel pump with the fuel sock disintegrating and none of that was there thank God. My problem is is that at operating temperature if I stick it wide open throttle it starts a little bit rich and then it goes right up the lean and it only does it when it's up the temperature.

@@joepoegel2394 I was able to use my scan tool to watch my fuel trims to see if the car was telling fuel injectors to decrease . What I kept seeing was the cars fuel trims were going negative 30-40% making the car cut fuel so bad the car would choke and die . Which led me to think that it’s getting bad readings on the 02 input . After swapping that out it works fine now . It kept happening once it warmed up after every battery reset because once a car warms up that’s when it started to adjust the long term fuel trim . Because I kept unhooking the battery it would reset the fuel trims and seem fixed until it warmed up and did it all over again . Been driving this thing on and off a few months now tagged just haven’t posted an update . Has an occasional miss and I think a trans issue but still is fun. Might throw another trans in it as I have one sitting here.

@@JustFixinGarage I have been seeing this in the log with my Hp tuners. That really makes sense now that I think about it.
