Assembling a 1000HP+ Capable 2.4 liter SRT-4 Neon engine - Project SilverStorm Episode 09

Welcome back to an update on the SRT-4 Build we are working on . Finally got some time with Always Something Garage (Ron and Caleb) to assemble to bottom end. Apologies for the video being choppy we spent 8 hours in the shop being very patient everything and I shrunk it down to an hour. Several parts have been stated over 1000HP but I am not looking to get anywhere near that. But I do hope to get in the 7xx's with this build.

DCR Balance Assembly Delete - Free from DCR but usually around $40.00

Love to see a no short cut build. Money spent on things that matter best of luck with it!

I usually back out the rod bolts a 1/4 inch and give it a soft tap with a rubber mallet, pulls the rod cap off the rod easily every time 💪🏽 I'm surprised you didn't upgrade to the beefier wrist pins

Thanks for the tip! As for the wrist pins I did just use what came with it. Figured it would meet my power goals. What other options are there because its not too late to upgrade :D

@@joewellrivera damn sounds crazy! I haven't heard much about people upgrading the wrist pins. I guess other stuff blows up first but I love cheap insurance. Like that 165 buck tone ring. what did you do for your crank did you keep all stock or get it treated and balanced?

    Balace shafts?????

The balance shaft is deleted . Pretty common to remove it on these cars. Some people just dip the pan and cut the chain

@@JustFixinGarage And there are no subsequent problems with this?

  • @JustFixinGarage

@@elwpoqerwituyvnu yes and no . The balance shaft assembly does provide some reinforcement for the bed plate . To solve for this removal you do crank straps which adds far more strength than the balance shaft assembly . On a big budget build you do the straps , windage tray , and crank scraper which I am doing. The pros of removing it allow more oil in the pan as well as no risk of the balance shaft grenading . It also removes some weight however the straps add some of that back . For some people they simply keep the balance assembly on the car but remove the chain connecting it to the crank. So it no longer does anything other than support/reinforce the bedplate.
