Speed Queen FF7 Front Load Washer & DF7 Dryer Update (Six Month Review) - Reliable - Fast

In this video I record a six month update to my original review of the Speed Queen FF7 front load washer (FF7008WN) and DF7 (DF7000WG) Gas Dryer. As far as I’m concerned, this set is still the ultimate and I would not trade them for any other front loader out there, but I do still like my top load Maytag commercial washer.
These SQ's are not cheap, but they are clearly built to last as you'll see. This company has a history of creating reliable machines built solidly and designed to last decades in the home. This design is largely the same as machines you'll find in a laundromat with the exception of a coin slot. Last portion of the video is dedicated to washing a load of laundry. This right hand model is a AFNE9BSP116TW01. If you're looking for a new, top washer that's one of Consumer Reports top-rated models and a front-loader, this is one to consider. In a world of consumable items, Speed Queen still builds the quality items that made them known. Whether you prefer a top-load washer with an agitator or a front loader, I hope you enjoy the video.

    Please give us an update as I don’t know which either!!! I am on last year of extended 5 year warranty purchased from Lowe’s on a smart higher end Maytag. On Our first warranty call (top unit had something that left washer sitting with wash water in and it took over a week to get that unit in & replacement in place- now smart unit won’t work as won’t pair) the repairman said he would be getting front loader Speed Queen when his 20 year Whirlpool front loader goes as he can’t get parts for it any longer. So I thought a repairman would know what is best. My husband is against front loaders so I guess I’ll have to get a top loader and I can’t decide which wash system to go with.

    I received my FF7005WN a couple months ago. Just today the door open error started happening. No way to reset it. Either the switch is broken, wiring bad or something worse. Can't use the machine at this point. Hopefully we can get service quickly. The design of the drum and seal is a bit off. Got rid of an LG with a 5.2 cuft capacity for this 3.5 coft capacity for the "better quality". Other than it being a heavy machine, not seeing the quality yet. Small socks and other items get stuck in bottom of door seal and have to be added to the next load to clean. The soap tray is a faulty design. The soap section is open in the back of the drawer and you can poor a whole bottle into it if you wanted to and it would never hit the "Max" mark since it just keeps emptying out of the back. You have to make sure to measure your detergent and not count on the max bar on the soap drawer.

  • @chrisw.3077

    @chrisw.3077

    2 жыл бұрын

    I think your setup is faulty. The combination of a seal gap and the soap pouring out of the back of the drawer indicate that the machine is tilting back too far. I have never had one article of clothing get caught in the seal. The drawer is a pretty weak design as I mentioned in the video but it’s not a huge deal to use the cap that every single detergent container comes with. If the washer is somewhat level and small items are still getting caught, put your small items in a mesh bag. As far as the door, hope it is fixed quickly

    How big of a deal is it, that this does not have an internal water heater? If I am washing a load of white towels for example, how hot should my water heater be set to that supplies this washer? I realize the water will not stay that hot during the entire wash, so I get that. But as long as the hot water is entering the washer hot enough, won't that be sufficient enough, even without an internal water heater? My water heater is a natural gas tankless only feet away from the where this washer will be once I get it, and I can set the temperature to anything I want.

    The last mechanical front load washer I knew of was my 2007 Wascomat WE17 washer. It was a coin-op washer without the coin box. It has only ONE wash cycle and three wash temp options, as I remember. Stone age simple and I loved it. The water level sensor was easy to manipulate and I adjusted it to where the water level (wash and 3 rinses) came up to about 2" on the glass. The wash got done in 40 minutes and everything came out fresh and clean. Sadly, I left it behind when I moved. Even if I kept it, it is damn near impossible to get parts for it anyway because it's over 10 years old.

    The Speed Queen gives more flexibility but probably slightly longer cycles, no more than a few minutes. They’re both very fast. On most things, I’d imagine the front loader would do as good of a job as the top load at least, but it’s certainly possible on heavy stains the extra water in a Maytag top load would serve a purpose. That being said, there is something really nice about not worrying about a load going out of balance. The SQ also seems to be more gentle.

    If your dogs shed a lot, the hair has to go somewhere so consider running whatever you’re about to wash in the dryer with a couple of dryer sheets to remove at least some of the hair. Hey! Nice video. I just got this set two days ago, however I’ve had some issues, I wanted to ask you what you thought. 1.The dryer door is not flush with the body, the bottom seems to stick out more than the top. I’m not sure if I’m just being finicky, but after spending so much money, I feel like it should be completely level. 2. A small but significant amount of water and suds will come out of the detergent drawer and leak down the machine no matter how much soap I use. I’ve tried several different types, and it does not change the outcome. 3. The most horrible screechy rattling noise comes from the machine unless you take the bottom pedestal panel off. 4. Socks, commonly get stuck in the rubber gasket next to the glass window. I’m not sure if it’s normal for front front loaders, but it happens every time. Thanks in advance !:)

    1, 2, 3, and 4 all are obviously related to the units not being anywhere close to level. Did you notice that all of the issues are at the front of the machines? What does that tell you?

    @@chrisw.3077 sounds like that could be the issue. The vendor installed the units, I’m not sure why they wouldn’t do it correctly. The dryer however is definitely a defect. It doesn’t even make a seal at the bottom. They probably screwed it in crooked. Thanks for the reply!

    @@DoctorDepp it’s not “could be”, it is the issue. Willing to bet that you’ll find the dryer door magically realigned if you level the set out/fix your floor.

    @@tintguy66 it’s the bolts on the back of the pulley or drum. Your machine is tilted too far back I believe. If you used the top of the machine to level, it’s not accurate, tighten all of the leveling bolts up to the machine and only adjust to eliminate any rocking. Machine does not have to be perfectly level.

    Purchased this pair and my only problem is the washer! It has this issue still unresolved, being a balance issue. Some small or large washes do not balance during the spin cycle. It does not do this every time but often enough to be a concern. The washer dances its way out into the hall!! It was professional installed and balanced properly. We had service people tell us that was normal, it’s not acceptable. Never in my many years of owning washers has this occurred. Speed Queen has not done anything to correct my issue. The dryer is perfect (so far) We are three years into the warranty. Still unbalanced washer problem.
