Speed Queen FF7 Commercial Front Load Washer & DF7 Dryer - FF7005 DF7000 - Review: Ultimate Washer

Testing and reviewing this Speed Queen. Competitors include Miele, LG, and Samsung. I also compare this front loader to my Maytag MVWP575GW washing machine.
These SQ's are not cheap, but they are clearly built to last as you'll see. This company has a history of creating reliable machines built solidly and designed to last decades in the home. This design is largely the same as machines you'll find in a laundromat with the exception of a coin slot. Last portion of the video is dedicated to washing a load of laundry. This right hand model is a AFNE9BSP116TW01. If you're looking for a new, top washer that's one of Consumer Reports top-rated models and a front-loader, this is one to consider. In a world of consumable items, Speed Queen still builds the quality items that made them known. Whether you prefer a top-load washer with an agitator or a front loader, I hope you enjoy the video.

The neg reviews about SQ are often ignorant or user errors, the machine is not to blame. SQ is user friendly, but not idiot proof to some degree. Same for DIY, many other brands are a nightmare underneath, including Maytag.

I own the stainless version of these. The best washer/dryer combo I have ever owned. The maintenance is super easy such as cleaning out the lint trap and anything else. I am about to purchase the stackable SF7 for our beach condo hoping it will last at least 10 years with all of the renter abuse. But even if it breaks, I call Benson’s or my other appliance repair guys and they can come out and fix it. Can’t wait to buy it. There is nothing better than having equipment that can stand the test of time with good maintenance with minimal break downs or issues.

I’ve had my SP front loading pair for about seventeen years and they’ve been trouble free. Mine are manual rotary controls and the controls are mounted on the rear of the machines which was available at the time because I like to fold my laundry atop the machines and didn’t want socks and underwear falling behind the machines. You’ve made a great choice. These things are built like anvils. I’ll put them on a level with my Kirby vacuum and my Kitchenaid stand mixer. You just don’t run into many products built like this anymore. Best of luck with them.

I came back here to reply to my own comment. I just took delivery of our speed queen front loader, and tested it out having washed several loads already. This thing truly is built like a tank, the spin cycle is perfect, it handled my blankets perfectly, it cleaned a pair of dirty jeans from work soaked in chemicals, oils, and coolant. It also plays nice with my tankless water heater when I wash on warm or hot. I had a previous LG front load washer that had some type of automatic temperature control that would rapidly pulse the hot water valve open and closed, making my tankless water heater rapidly cycle on and off as well. This speed queen washer put an end to that, and will save some wear on my tankless hot water heater. I only had to wait 4 months for this washer, instead of the expected 6 months so that was a nice surprise as well. The installers did a decent enough job installing it, although they did not level it perfectly. It is leveled from side to side perfect, but when I check front to back, the front leans ever so slightly forward towards me. Not sure if that is a huge deal. The washer was installed with the pedestal, so to fix it I would need to raise both feet at the front of the pedestal ever so slightly. Not sure what tools I would need to do this with, I will look in the installation manual later.

Great review, you do a through and clear job. I have had a couple of speed queen top loaders and dryers different models they are built like tanks there’s no getting around that. I do like the white interiors of other brands dryers but this one in the speed queen will resist yellowing constant bashes from zippers on jeans and the longevity of it it will always look the same where is that cannot be said about the other brands with the white drums. I never had a speed queen front loader so I can’t speak about that but I’m sure if it’s good enough for the laundromats it would be super good enough for home use. Lots of luck keep us posted! 🍀🍀🍀

FYI put a lot more clothes in the washer. Front loaders do not love small loads. Towels can almost be stuffed in and clothes filled until you can just fit your hand above them. Your machine is modulating the spin speed based on feedback from the balance sensor. You can hear it speed up and slow and speed up again. With a fuller load it is less likely to do that

Did you leave out the filter screen washers that r attached to the hoses? I saw a video where the individual purposely left out the screen washers so the tub would fill faster. I’m wondering what is the purpose of the filters? Is it to slow down water pressure, prevent small things from back washing? In my old LG it did prevent pebbles and dog hair from back washing. It gave me an error code and I had to unscrew the hoses and clean out the filter. I’m wondering if leaving them out would void the warranty. Have you tried washing a king size heavy comforter? If so, did it get satisfactorily cleaned? Did it get thoroughly wet and then spun to just damp? What settings do you use on your comforters? Have you had any mold issues? What do you do to maintain it clean and properly working? What cleaning products do you use to clean the inside, outside and rubber gaskets? I just recently purchased this set and waiting for the delivery. Thank you!

Hey! Nice video. I just got this set two days ago, however I’ve had some issues, I wanted to ask you what you thought. 1.The dryer door is not flush with the body, the bottom seems to stick out more than the top. I’m not sure if I’m just being finicky, but after spending so much money, I feel like it should be completely level. 2. A small but significant amount of water and suds will come out of the detergent drawer and leak down the machine no matter how much soap I use. I’ve tried several different types, and it does not change the outcome. 3. The most horrible screechy rattling noise comes from the machine unless you take the bottom pedestal panel off. 4. Socks, commonly get stuck in the rubber gasket next to the glass window. I’m not sure if it’s normal for front front loaders, but it happens every time. Thanks in advance !:)

Over $2200?? Oh hell no. I had a Speed Queen top loader washer that I bought about 10 years ago. I paid $1200 for it. I used Foca detergent laundry powder and other laundry detergent powders. It lasted 7 years only. I would occasionally use vinegar as a rinse aid. I think using non HE detergents and vinegar occasionally, and exclusively only using a cold water temperature wash, ruined the machine. I truly thought I'd get 10 years out of it. Seven years was not what I signed up for. Lesson learned for all future washers. I now only use warm water to wash clothes, only liquid HE laundry detergents, and no liquid fabric softeners (I use Lysol Laundry Sanitizer liquid in the fabric softener dispenser). I have a Maytag top loader that I purchased at a big box store for $700. It's working well so I guess what I'm doing now is good. And I didn't buy the extended warranty because everything being made only last 3-5 years only.

This shouldn’t be an issue if you keep the door cracked open when not using the machine. If you keep the door closed and sealed, any machine is going to have a mildew/mold issue. Can also fit in 2 king sized heavy cotton blankets. Has not gone off balance, cleans well, and cycles are relatively short when compared to other washers. It starts quickly and does not spend so much time sensing the weight of the clothes in the drum. According to the owner’s manual, it can hold up to 21 lbs. Washer works very well, the electric dryer is decent.

Take the leveling screws/feet all the way tight to the lowest setting (tightened up into the machine) so everything is the same height, then simply make sure the machine doesn’t rock. Use the level to the extent you adjust the feet so it doesn’t rock, toward the direction of being level. The machine does not need to be perfectly level like a top loader.

Hey Chris thanks for posting this. I know my new SQ front load washer has issues for sure. It vibrates really bad on ramp up. Once it reaches top speeds it’s fine. Without large third party rubber feet it walks bad about 6-8 inches. I found another video with the exact same issue. They fixed it by replacing the shocks and balance ring. I think mine is just a bad shock. I’ll upload videos today on my KZread. Also my soap drawer leaks bad on almost every load. There’s water on the floor. Approx 5 ml of water runs down the front of the machine.

Like every other person who has had this issue and made the same kind of comments on my channel, it is user error and not the machine. In the first video you posted, you have a panel off the machine and that certainly won’t help. In the second video, doesn’t it strike you odd that the washer is so much higher than the dryer? It should, because that’s wrong. If you had actually watched my video and absorbed the content, you’d know. You’re obsessing over the machine being level, when you’re not even leveling it correctly. Here is what you do: tighten the feet all the way up (so the machine is as low as it will go) and then adjust only one or two of the feet until the machine is approx. level but MOST STABLE. ONLY put the level on the bottom of the chassis with the front panel off. The top panel is not a good reference since it is a stamped piece of steel. It is not critical that the machine is perfectly level but you should not be able to rock it or move it with any shaking that you’d do to test your work.

@@chrisw.3077 the front panel is off so you can see the drum rocking and banging. It’s to show what’s happening while it’s running. The height difference between the washer and dryer is because of the aftermarket rubber feet i put on the washer to stop it from walking away. We put cement board down last weekend and not much change. It actually jumped off the cement board this week. Next step is changing the balance ring and then shocks. This was professionally installed by the seller and inspected by a third party serviceman. I’m not just doing this on my own.

@@ThunderJarvis you’re full of it. If this was installed by the “seller”, why aren’t they taking care of it? You have the stock feet on the unit in the second video with the front panel off. They’re nearly completely out of the unit. You’re making up issues.

I have a shaker too. It’s really bad and it’s brand new. Only shakes on ramp up of spin cycle and ramp down. It was dancing bad at first but got that fixed by using large rubber aftermarket feet supports. Now it just vibrates. This is a flaw in the product. I’ve built up the floor with 3 layers of cement board with no resolve. I’ve found other videos and owners who reported a fix which involved replacing all 4 shocks and the balance ring. There’s the manual for that but you don’t need it given the buttons have English printed right on them! Who would ever have thought they’d come up with buttons with real words on them! If the door isn’t staying open then the unit isn’t level. My door stays open right where I put it. Cindy, I gotta tell ya, I’m 6’3 and while I hate bending over generally, I manage it when it’s necessary. If you’re like 8’ tall or something, there are optional pedestals that can be added to give you that little bit of extra height. Cindy, I also need to say that your husband has great taste in appliances and he picked the best ones. Your clothes will be cleaner and your towels will be fresh. No problems will be had. Your life will be better for your husband’s decisive action here. I’m sure your husband would be happy to do the laundry if you don’t want to. Heck, women of a certain age would line up around the block for a man willing to buy a Speed Queen front loader for his wife. There’s something magical about 1100rpm on the spin cycle. It sounds like a American jet turbine spinning up to enforce freedom around the globe. The spin cycle is so fast that even if you cry tears of joy at the thought of man’s accomplishments here, it’ll suck the tears from your eyes and the rest of the moisture from the air. Mission Accomplished. God Bless America and thank Him for Speed Queen. Amen.
