    Yeah, fair. I somewhat wish I could go back to the intro and add "As a new player" somewhere in there. Though I suppose I would also say that with so few cards in a deck I find games to be less complex than many others I've played. Due in part to the fact you're trying to pull off basically a single game plan, exactly the same way using only a few key cards every single match. But less complex doesn't mean less skill required. Hindsight for me for next time

It fascinating me that some card are related very often with other cards or the location, for example Doc Oct with Shang Chi, Ravonna with Space Throne, and Kitty goes second if you have Killmonger. They also rigged your win very often, today they let you win and tomorrow they let you lose, doesn't matter how perfect your deck are the shuffle gonna ruin it, also i tried dumb deck that not matching at all (move,discard,destroy) and i win. So, if you play at least 3 times and win. Keep Snapping but i am not guarantee you always win, it's around 7 out 10 play. If you keep losing just finish daily mission.

    @@Kogelvis you don't read it all, win or lose are common in game and i am fine with it but i recognize some pattern that happen often make me said it rigged. I already said that shuffle ruin your play. For example you play cerebro but they don't give cerebro till end after 10 play. The matchmaking also rigged too, i rarely play Thanos deck but when i play him the opponent play darkhawk deck. And for today i play Ravonna for first time and how tf 2 different opponent play changing location card (Scarlet Witch and Reality stone) the location turn into Space Throne in my Ravonna location. And maybe you want more i did test during Loki season, at that time everyone play Kitty Pryde so i want destroy it with Killmonger. You know what funny is? When Killmonger already in my hand, i go first previously opponent go first. So i can't destroy her. The result 1 out 15 Killmonger destroy Kitty. Is not win or lose that make said the game rigged but shuffle, cards and matchmaking and it happen for a full day that they want you win or lose make me said that.

    To answer the questions in the video at the end because I feel like this is a fun way to interact with some of the points in the video, yes I do play this game quite a lot despite my lack of interest in trading card games and marvel as a whole. My favorite deck is one that ive never seen anyone else play before but I do know has been played before but maybe not how I play it. I play a big vemon deck. I cram as much poer as I can in one location (usually forge on turn 2 in another location into gladiator on the big power location into warpath) and then slam either titania or lizard down with venom(or ironlad if i havent drawn venom and just hope it hits venom) on turn 5 and then either copy his power with taskmaster or split him into two venoms with arnim zola. Its a dumb, basically combo deck, with very simple gameplay, but it works just enough. Because all though theres a meta, the snapping feature and using the locations provided to you(or retreating to minize losses when the locations are bad) let you express your skill and win better or lose better, especially in the conquest mode. Also in conquest mode, the proving grounds really lets you play whatever deck you feel like because, theres zero consequences for losing, although theres also very little for winning over and over. The proving grounds also has like a weird space where theres almost no meta decks in there, I think its because all skill levels are playing in the same space to start their climb(or restart it). Oh also yeah im annoyed by the america chavez change because It hit many not great decks in the process but I understand because so many decks were using her. I would still like her to be changed back tho. Also I have no problem with the ui, I just hate the music with a burning passion, and im happy I can turn that off.

    The change to Chavez is pretty logical. I mean, she basically turned decks into 11-cards decks, upping the likeliness of getting the cards you need. In a game where you usually get 9 out of 12 cards (under normal circumstances), it's pretty huge to make it 9 out of 11.

  • @RedBobcatGames

    @RedBobcatGames

    7 ай бұрын

    Sure, from a game play perspective. But does that change the feel bad of having cards, and in the case of Chavez entire decks function differently? What if someone had spent real money to get the cards in that deck? Are they just out of luck?

    @@RedBobcatGames I'm not trying to invalidate the frustration that's inherent to that kind of change, but I try to see the bigger picture, which is that Chavez was detrimental to the balance of the game. I would also say that forcing players to get out of their comfort zone is a good thing. You are right, tho, that it may be unjust for players who put money into the game, and this is by far your best argument in your video : the micro-transactions are predatory and hinder the game.

    As a cerebro player (I have 15 cerebro decks including c negative 3, its not a problem honest) I would dispute some of the points made on the no skill required. Especially the point about how cards only go in one deck, most cards in the game are playable in at least one cerebro archetype. Also win rate is not everything, and marvel snap is unique (by which I mean it took a mechanic that existed in backgammon for decades) in that you don't have to win over 50% of the time to win. Case in point, C2 (pre latest patch, what they did to Luke cage was disgusting, completely destroying one of the 4 viable C2 decks (for the last time, I don't have a cerebro addiction)) can always threaten to play cerebro + mystique on turn six adding upwards of 40 power to the board, this means if you snap on the final turn, your opponent often has to play it out cause you could be bluffing (if they are retreating mix in bluff snaps to exploit this), while you can retreat freely. This means the strength of your hand is greatly concealed so you generally win 4 times as many cubes when you win then you do when you lose, so you could have a 20% win rate and still break even. Source: I have got to infinite every season with C2 for nearly 10 seasons while almost always having a below 50% win rate.

  • @RedBobcatGames

    @RedBobcatGames

    7 ай бұрын

    Good points. I would perhaps point out that getting to Inifinite whilst having a below 50% win rate is in itself an example of the skill requirments I mentioned though, but I would be mostly just saying it in jest. I do understand and appriciate what is required to achieve that. It's impressive, and you are right in a lot of what you say. However you also clearly know what you're doing, so I think my advice here is going to be less useful in the grand scheme of things. My hope is that new players, or those less entrenched might find something of value in this video though. How do you think I did from that perspective?

  • @eMikecs

    @eMikecs

    While it is true lot of cards can go to a lot of decks eventually you need a lot of luck or just play for a long time to get some of those key cards that you can build a deck around. For example your C2 probably has brood, nico, negasonic, mystique and cerebro itself. They are each series 3+ cards which are really slow to get if you do not pay money. (and if you pay then it is just super expensive) When you start out this flexibility doesn't exist for a long time.

  • @MTHW4390

    @MTHW4390

    @@eMikecs Good point, I will concede that as a very new player there are very few playable options and few cards are transferable throughout decks, although your example of Nico is a bit weird as they are my 5th choice for 1 drop, which is not a slot you play a lot of in cerebro.

    @@RedBobcatGames I think any video game should more or less make you feel that way. A good game design should make you feel that it is easy to learn, but hard to master. Like, I can play a C2 deck. But can I get the same cube rate as this guy ? I think I can't. Take for example, Lamby who won the last Conqueros tournament. He did it by playing a deck that everyone can play, but he is so good at the game that he can actually extract 100% from all of his decks. If you took the time to learn what every card can do and use it in all best situations given, that is a high cap of skill. You can still play the card simply, like uno for instance, it will still work, you will still win sometimes, but if you master it, you will win much more. That is where the skill cap lands. let's see this way, if there is "no skill required" to play the game, I could copy Lamby's decks and reach rank 1 every season. That is not true right ? Again, Lamby is much more skillful player than I am therefore, he will extract much more from his decks than me.

    Why you think that daily missions are something bad? Imo it's something that forces you to play every time a different deck: mission with 1 cost- maybe a good time to revisit zoo? 2nd thing is that you have guaranteed drops for pool 1 & 2 and van target farm pool 3 in shop during every season. I know its only one card per season but i'm mamy cases its only thing you need to complete a deck (I hit easly 90 tank with wong on reveal with wong as my only pool 3 card in this deck)

    Daily missions aren't bad in themselves, but they are often used as a way of training it's players to log in every day. Same as log in bonuses. More engagement in a game encourages spending, and I raise an eyebrow at the ethics of any game mechanic designed to tempt you into spending money.

    Simple as that. I played the game as a ftp until Daken season and I started playing the game during Zabu season. I unlocked all pool 3 cards by that time, 100% free. Once they introduced the spotlight caches system, it became a lot better for ftp players to play the game. Once you unlock all your pool 3 cards, you will get Gold currency by just playing the game. Don't spend that. Just wait for a good opportunity to buy bundles with that Gold. From time to time, they basically sell you a bundle avg 7500 Gold that will give you a lot of credits and a lot of tokens, which are the 2 other currencies in the game. With these 2 currencies you can get more spotlight caches, with tokens you can legit buy the cards you want in the shop, entirely for free. You can literally IGNORE everything else, meaning Ignore expensive 65$ bundles like he said in the video, you can ignore buying GOLD, or variants... IGNORE all that, you don't need that to play and be competitive. For ftp, You literally can get pool 3 complete in more or less 6 months and get access to premium cards without ever spending a dime in the game. You also kindly forgot to mention that the same cosmetics that they sell you in the shop, they give you for free by just you playing the game and opening the collector's cache as you progress your collection level. So again, you can literally play the game, be competitive, achieve better ranks, get the latest card releases without spending a single penny.

    @@RedBobcatGames yes you are right. A lot of these things are not explicit in the game and I had to learn as I went through. For example, I didn't know about Gold Bundles being worth... Also, I used to spend that buying missions to get more credits... Anyway, I now buy the Season Pass which is very cheap and typically it gives us a lot of things. I do it just to support the game while I am playing it. Still, while spending on a season pass monthly since August, I don't have all cards and I am unlocking new cards mainly with Spotlight Caches like everyone else, getting Gold through weekly missions like everyone else with a slight extra from the season pass. Yes, the loot box system sucks because it is a game of chance, you might not get the card you want... But again, it is mitigated by the high availability of those caches ( typically 2 caches per week. That gives you at least 50% chance to get what you want. And if you skip few weeks, you can accumulate those to spend on stuff that you actually want.) I agree with you in a sense that the systems that are there do take the same ideas from other mobile games. Take for example, Clash of Clans... If you don't have the season pass, good luck... You will put a structure to upgrade and log back 2w later and it will still be upgrading... With Season pass the same structure takes you less than a week... To me that is unacceptable. But Marvel Snap, at least they are not trying to screw the ftp player base like that.

    I got REALLY into Marvel Snap for a while. Really enjoyed my time with it as a Free-mium (only bought battle passes) player, UNTIL I started to fall behind on new card acquisition. There just comes a certain point as a mostly free player where you have to start planning how to save and spend spotlight keys, and when cards are subject to change before they’re even released, planning what caches to skip and what ones to go in on just increasingly felt like a chore. Through my own card evaluation as well as community opinions, I skipped several cards that weren’t worth the keys at the time but became integral to the best decks in the format through buffs. I guess what I’m trying to say is even with frequent play and buying the battle passes, I just fell behind and thus gradually fell off the game. Also my favorite decks were Phoenix Force, Surfer and Annihilus Bounce; I am a combo player no matter the game it seems.

Yes, there are some decks that mostly don't change, like discard and destroy, or basic on-reveal at lower levels, but there's certainly more than 6 archetypes, and usually more than that within a given meta, let alone considering viable non-meta options. If the person making this video is a new player though, I can see where they'd get this, as the game purposefully limits the mechanics a new player will be exposed to at first. It's also a more restrictive meta rn, as a recently released card is overcentralizing things. 2: Card updates. Yeah, the devs make a lot of changes to cards. Rn there are actually less card updates than normal due to the holiday season, with like 50% fewer updates. Most card updates, however, are small numbers changes, with more impactful changes, like the one described for luke cage, happening generally once/twice per week (in normal card change volume) and reworks like experienced for America Chavez being exceedingly rare, having happened only twice in the game's history of over a year. Furthermore, this rework for Chavez was pretty much a known thing to players that are more involved in the community, as the devs had been stating for a couple of months that they weren't happy with how she was used. 3: variants. As for variants, yes, there are a lot of variants belonging to certain styles, such as pixel, baby, chibi, dan hipp, etc. But it's not intended that an average player is going to get every variant they see in the shop either. In fact, that would be A LOT of money, as stated in the albums portion of the video. Almost double what was stated, actually, as Bobcat here hasn't actually bought any gold, and therefore has a one-time double gold boost on each tier of paid gold (which, to be clear, I also have, as I only purchase the monthly season passes). But variants are how Snap tries to lure in its whales. At least it doesn't try to use P2W features. 4: UI sound. Can't really weigh in on this one, as I usually play with sound off. My final little nitpick is with card acquisition: season pass cards, to my knowledge, actually cannot be obtained during that season without buying the pass. This is something I am very much not a fan of, but have little power to change.

    Hey, if the community makes enough noise we all have the power to change anything. I'd say the rest of what you've written here is accurate. I wouldn't have considered myself a new player, I've spent many MANY hours in the game, however from reading some of the comments I'm starting to see I've only scartched the surface of the game. However, I feel that is also some what damning. Exactly how much of a time investment are you meant to sink into this before it opens up?

    I really enjoy the game, but the sheer length of time required to "collect them all" without paying is just too much, even if I only want to collect one particular artist variant collection because I think they're pretty. As a result, I end up just not playing at all, which is a shame. This is undoubtedly intentional, to encourage FOMO, and increase the chance of people richer than myself splurging.

    I think there is some misinformation here at a higher level, BUT on a casual level all of these things are correct. :3 This isnt an insult, the casual opinion is arguably more important. Id be interested to see you revisit this once you see some more cards. To answer the end of vid questions: Favorite Deck: 1.Clog Deck(you spam out garbage on your side and send it to the enemy to block spaces) 2. Chavez change? Yea, i didnt like it. 3. Phones piss me off

    Oh yeah, 100%. My major regret here is that at the start of the video I didn't explain that I am always a massive casual in basically any game I engage with, and like to aim my thoughts on people like me. This was a lesson learned. Thank you for the comment though, loved your answers!

    I was intrigued but unfortunately this is such a limited take. As someone who’s been playing since release, this isn’t accurate which is unfortunate. I was expecting an educated take but this is just a confusing ramble.

    You're saying the meta is solved, but you also complain that you need to change up your decks once in awhile...? Not sure how those two statements can both be true. If the meta was actually solved, you could just make the best deck and keep using it. (Unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean by "the meta is solved"?)

    You're missing "at the point of creation". I'm saying the developers know what decks they want to do better or worse, and design cards around that. They may change how it is solved, meaning we need to change decks occasionally, but there's still not much room for new deck archetypes. At least in my opinion, and in comparison to a lot of other cards games I've played

    My main issue with Marvel Snap is even more of a nitpick than any of your issues, it’s the theme, I’m so done with superhero’s theming, and especially marvel that I just don’t really have an interest in it even if it probably is a good game.
