A Methodist minister came to my primary school once to give an assembly where he had a student come up and eat dog meat out of a tin, but then it turned out to just be jelly, because the moral of the assembly was supposed to be that you shouldn't "judge a book by its cover." I don't know why you wouldn't illustrate that moral with a book, instead of dog food, but I've always thought it was a disappointing cop-out not to make a kid eat REAL dog meat in front of all the other kids. That'd be way better. Jesus would be well up for it

My brother is a Fallout fan. When I showed him DogMeat, he was disappointed that he could not directly eat them or turn them into food. Bit of a ... flavor fail

@@RedBobcatGames I have - I've not been much into the recent phyrexia decks more for gameplay reasons than for their lore, but I have thoroughly enjoyed playing with the Kamigawa cards, especially neon dynasty. Lore wise, the story of Urza and Mishra is an interesting one, but I've especially enjoyed reading about the Eldrazi and the slivers.

Yeah, I suppose you're not wrong. But we probably could gamify it. Maybe sort out all of the artifacts and creatures into 5 locations based off of the lands, and then try and flip them over to see what you get. It would need more of a structure, but there's something there

It's funny you don't care about Universes Beyond sets, at my LGS the Fallout decks (and LotR before) were more popular than any actual full release, up until MH3 last week.

MIght have said that before, don't remember, but Universes beyond is imo a really cool product, there are two problems I have with it: reprintability and competitive play. the fact, that they can't be reprintet at all, especially the legendaries makes them pretty much an own sort of reserved list and that can't be good for the price in the long run, especially since they are play legal in multiple eternal formats, Commande ris by nature a casual game with wacky stuff, so I see no problem there, however in terms of competitive play I see a slight issue with e.g. the one ring, can't be reprinted and very powerfull and already pretty expensive not a good combination for the economy of the game. Also it's slightly imersion breakinga dn I can see that, but I see that as less of a problem since roleplay has never really been the focus of the game as long as it doesn't get too overwhelming I'm fine with boromir marching alongside thalia, you could make up your own little canon about as the invasion tree ripped open the planes the planes of middle earth warhammer etc were included and now have to fight as well, be creative :P but yeah I do see pricing becoming an issue

They've already shown that they can and will do universes within from secret lair stuff, so why not take some of the best of the best and do universes within from these sets? But yeah, it does present a frustrating problem

@@RedBobcatGames Boo! The way they've done it so far is that universes within are on bonus sheets in other sets. It would probably help them if they replaced a common/uncommon with a Universes within version. I personally liked the universes within versions of several cards from stranger things and street fighters. However, they still probably need other bonus sheets to push sales. Or maybe they just need better products and less greedy gimmicks. Magic 30th and Aftermath were horrible products and not the only bad ideas over at WotC.

The white glove gormands were all about food. But it was very luxury and very shady. You probably couldn't have afforded it and would've ended up on the menu more than likely lol. So you made a good choice to avoid them. Yes, dogmeat was the food you could lot off of wild dogs, so Dogmeat was the ironic name of the wonderful companion. Well done on your survival. Avoidance is clearly the biggest thing to staying alive in Fallout. Avoid big stuff until you have more power and influence.

i think they did a pretty damn good job with the flavor, i'm genuinely surprised, i didn't buy them but i plan to buy a set for my collection. i have only played them 1v1 and unfortunately i didn't like them much but i think i would've had better results in a 4player game. i HATE pretty much EVERY rpg except new vegas. i watched my friend beat rats with a stick for months in Fallout 3 and it looked boring AF but one day while he played new vegas i got the itch. i can't explain it but i started a new game and enjoyed every fucking second. i beat it for like 3 different endings plus dlc and got like 80% of trophysbut if you asked me to play any other rpg there's absolutely no chance. i HATE rpg's.

That's probably because New Vegas was made by a different studio (Obsidian I think) and they had a bunch of more mechanics in there. Like being able to dress up as a member of a gang and blend in. Plus I liked how the karma system was there, but if you swung from wildly evil acts to wildy good acts it didn't balance out as a neutral character, and instead said you were a chaotic psychopath. Very good stuff

Oh that's cool to hear that people who joined from a Universes Beyond are checking out the rest of the game. Have you looked into any of the lore?

Of all MTG sets that were ever released, Fallout is my least favorite one. Tbh it is the only one that i actively wish wasn't made. Why? Because now i can't order cards anymore without checking twice for the set they're from. It's quite a lot of effort avoiding these and i hate their looks.

I wasn't a fan of universes beyond at first. The whole walking dead secret lair thing left a bad taste in my mouth. However the commander decks have changed that. I actually got into Dr. Who because of the set revolving around that IP. The warhammer and fallout (actually started a new game on FO 4 because of the set, shoutout to sim settlements 2 as well) cards also got a solid vote from me...and the LOTR set was good as well. The other ones coming in the pipe tho....well im gonna wait and see.

Do you think it works the other way round? Many Doctor Who fans started playing Magic since the cards came out for instance?

So tired of Magic-opoly. As cool as transformers were, I own a bunch but never will play them. They don't TRANSFORM, they *convert* Universes Beyond pull me out of the fantasy atmosphere. However, Rad counters are interesting, and I like how they can deplete themselves. And yes, I'd eat dog meat. Or Dogmeat.

@@RedBobcatGames as you say in the video, you would thrive on them ;-) I have a ren and seri deck, the things is that we had some dogs and some hounds and putting them together gave more choices for kindred decks. I mean, all felines are cats...

UB is just one giant Stockholm syndrome as first it was ok to hate the Walking Dead cards but now if you disagree with it currently you will get absolutely destroyed. the community has made a complete pivot away from totally liking and don't ask questions about reprints or wanting these cards to be Universes Within how dare you question the millionaire company of wotc and Hasbro.
