    I am also a 5'3" Andrew. I have 2 sons over 6'. Guess who basically never bumps their head, doesn't worry about my feet hanging over the end of the bed and can fit in the back seat of pretty much any vehicle. I don't have any trouble finding shoes in my size or pants long enough. My feet reach all the way to the ground and there's generally always some giant around to grab things off the top shelf at Wal-Mart so....seems I'm the perfect height.

    im the tall one in the duo of my and my best friend and i've seen first hand how people under the average height make up for it in one way or another, for example, having to tell people she talks a lot (you will not get a word in, love her, but whoooo boy) like people think they can handle it without being classically trained

    My wife’s grandfather was a short guy, probably around 5’3” or so. He said that he always was resentful to the big guys, until he spent 3 years in a Russian POW camp. He looked up and locked eyes with me (6’2” here), and said “the big guys didn’t get enough food, and they died. I could survive on less.” First time in my life I was afraid of a diminutive nonagenarian.

Any time at school photos the person just stares at me for a second and goes *"On your knees in the front"* I make sure to ruin every photo I'm in. I don't know what friend or business group expects short people to perform like circus freaks in group photos; I'd suggest finding another. I loved this routine but I have to say I found the photo part the least relatable. There's a "my life experiences animated" type KZreadr who made a video called "short" that considers it a perk of shortness to always be the star of every group photo, and this is in my experience the more dominant one among us shorties. Of course it will vary drastically based on whether you like being in photos!

    There is 1 perk to being short in the military. When they do ceremonies of any kind its from tallest to shortest. So all the tall people have to be in the front of the formation havint to stand still for a long time where as the short people get to relax a bit out of sight from everyone looking at the front of the formation...ifykyk

  • @salvadorromero9712

    @salvadorromero9712

    7 күн бұрын

    I'm civilian but from what I've seen and talked to the military is all around a great place to be a short man! There are very cool jobs that are disqualified for too-tall guys but apart from ceremonial guards none for too-short guys. Also, while I (5'3") strongly feel the disrespect-from-other-men thing is grossly exaggerated in any context and is basically a cope for people to avoid thinking about what else about them might cause other men to have no respect for them, the military seems to be an exceptionally good setting for respect for short guys. For the simple reason that the setting provides such obvious and manifest means for a man to earn respect in the eyes of his comrades, there's really not much room left for silly stereotypes and assumptions like a short guy is less worthy of respect or capable or less of a man. I think it's not hard for a short guy to earn respect in the military, it's done all the time afaik and people barely think about it. Only to people who have led a life of frivolity does it seem odd or weird for a 6'3" guy to show respect to a 5'3" guy. Surely he thinks of himself as superior or more masculine, or the other guy as a little kid or whatever, deep down. Well, no. (And again, I think it's mostly serious insecurity that makes anyone, tall or short, think otherwise.)

    What's wrong with liking a particular kind of music? If it is the only kind of music that someone likes is one kind to the exclusion of all others, I could see it. If you like the person, you could introduce them to other things.

    @@McKavian it's a preference and, I've found certain types of 'favorite music' can also be a 'red flag'. Sting, Phil Collins, New Country (I could go on) are just not things I can not tolerate in a potential romantic partner. Leaves the toilet seat up? Short? Kinda dumb? Not a deal breaker. But if he listens to Offspring or Nickleback? GTFO

    I GOT THAT CRITTER PACE God, in sixth form one of the guys I hung out with all the time was 6'something, while I'm a whole 4'11" (and a bit - can't forget the bit). Heading up the stairs to class in the morning he was taking like 3 steps at a time EASILY and I was there looking like the pup named Scooby Doo version of Velma trying to keep up, that's always how I've described it. I like "critter pace"

    I once did an experiment where I wore undetectable lifts (approx. +4 inches) to events. At first, I figured there would be no difference. But, nope! People approached me, took interest in me, chatted with more engagement. It was actually surreal. Again, I thought I was imagining things, but every instance where I tried the experiment, the results were always similar. When I didn't wear them, almost no one took notice of me. 💪😎✌️ It's a great feeling. Lived with it all my existence, too! Good stuff.

    Some disadvantages of being tall to help the short guys feel better; airplanes are very uncomfortable. It's harder to pick stuff up off the ground. We hit our heads on things. People make us reach for things.

    I’m 4’ 11” and I RARELY ask anyone besides store personnel and my own family members to reach anything for me, and when it comes to my own family I only ask when they happen to be right where I want to reach - otherwise I’ll climb on stepstools, chairs, counters, tables and ladders just so I can reach stuff w/o bothering anyone 😅 I carry an umbrella/parasol with me every time I go out and have basically perfected the art of using the end of it to knock products off the top shelves in supermarkets and catch them as they fall, but I’m always grateful whenever a taller stranger notices what I’m trying to do and takes the thing off the shelf for me out of the kindness of his/her heart, because depending on how heavy or breakable the product packaging is, it can be a dangerous business 😅
