Very good and intelligent demonstration of how all the tiny parts are arranged. I'm about to dive into an identical shifter that has started giving me trouble and this will be of great help. Awesome song in the background. Tx.

You are a lifesaver!! I had one which was disassembled and then illness caused a delay before I could put it back together and by then I forgot all the different steps! I wasn't even as tore down into it as you are at the 8 minute mark. And the way that you stop rotate and reshow parts per step before you actually take the next piece off it's just wonderful and how ALL videos of this type should be made by everyone!! KUDOS now I just have to find a way to download your video reverse it so I can play it backwards to put everything back together LOL

Glad you found it useful. That was a megga tricky one to take apart - probably did it 5 times before making a video which showed everything in it;s right place and the right way round :)

I actually run into some difficulty to loosen that ring at 1:20. In your video you used a needle plier to catch the notches on that ring. That ring has 4 notches. I found it's impossible for me to loosen that ring. It's tightly bolted on. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Very well done video! I'm in awe of how you show each component from so many angles so you can catch the details. I might not know I needed to see a certain detail until I can't get it back together right. I didn't see any broken bits in there and other videos suggest just spraying the heck out of it with solvent then lube. Even if I didn't take it 100% apart I could get things a lot cleaner with a partial disassemble before doing the spray and pray. Mine is a 2 by 10 speed setup, how many speeds is this one for?

Did you record the left shifter also? I recorded mine but it stopped recording after 20 seconds and I didn't know until it was all apart. I have it back together but It isn't working right

Hello! Thanks for the video! In case you were still around youtube, I wanted to ask you this: the part with the thin spring attached to it that catches the gear (@6:45), is there a way to disassemble it in order to put a new spring on? Mine broke... Thanks!!

Yes. It is possible without the complete strip down. You have to remove the small clamp and than you can strip of the catcher.
