Ah the friendship version of the dinner is really nice even if my shep prefers to burn off the calories with him afterwards 😜 Kaidan is such a good character though, very undervalued and underrated sadly bc he is not flashy like the alien companions.

@@an-cx1ho The only things secret about The Andromeda Inititave was its use of AI, why they were going and who funded it. It is LITERALLY impossible to build 6 massive starships and have over 600,000 people from all walks of life volunteer to colonize another galaxy. You can't hide a project that big.

interesting - i swear in my play through (LE) the ark wasn’t on the screen in this scene, instead it was re-used news-style footage from the reaper attack on earth early in the game (i only remember the moment because it struck me as odd that sheep would start talking about her achievements sarcastically while watching such gruesome footage). maybe bioware removed the easter egg to lowkey distance themselves from andromeda?

In the Navy a Commander is equivalent to a Lt. Colonel which is 1 rank higher than Major. Regardless though the airforce/navy has a tradition atleast in the US armed forces that on a ship or aerial vehicle commanded by a person, even if you technically outrank them they are still "in-charge" on their vessel. Obviously this isn't always applied or maintained eapecially when on mission or during war. Kind of a respect thing.

@@Aschwarz32 just for argument, the Alliance is based on an amalgam of Canadian and American military doctrines, meaning the ranks are slightly different form American ranks In the first game, Kaidan is a Lieutenant Commander, listed by the codex as one rank below Shepard at Staff Commander. By ME3, he’s made it to Major, one rank above Shepard.

When I’m ME1 and ME3 I can understand why he’d be called Commander, because that’s his rank, but in ME2 he was working for Cerberus, who doesn’t have traditional ranks as far as I can tell. He could’ve been calling himself captain for that entire game and it wouldn’t have mattered.

Then again, Shepard was "promoted" to specter in the very fist game. He/She is technically above everyone at that point, everyone just called them commander because The Normandy was still an Alliance ship with Alliance protocols. As for ME3, Shepard just has the experience and seniority that everyone acknowledges he/she is in charge.

I'm Canadian, the game is Canadian, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what Canadian dish Kaidan made.

Keep in mind in ME people have pretty significant genetic augmentation. Shepard could be 70 years old and you wouldn't know

You're not taking into account the genetic augmentation that every Alliance soldier has, the augmentation for N7's are probably more extensive as well, which is why being "ripped" is practically useless in this world, and is only done for people who like the aesthetic, like James. Not to mention the cybernetic upgrades Shepard got when she was resurrected by the Lazarus project, Shepard's physical strength is so great that they can handle an anti-material weapon as if it were any normal garden variety gun at your local gun store, that's something no normal human, whether they're male or female, can do.

No one is talking ripped here bc that isn’t how healthy muscled people actually look. To get that ripped look weightlifters have to dehydrate themselves and shed all muscle before competition. Healthy athletes and soldiers still have fat and aren’t “ripped” Anyway, let’s discuss how genetic augmentation works bc you seem to think it does something it does not. Genetic augmentation works to improve what we have already. It doesn’t change HOW muscles work. (Or make them much much stronger but at a tiny size.) It just changes how fast we can develop them and how large they may get to put as at peak levels for our body. And each person would develop along the peak levels for their personal body. Take rebecca’s child and it’s heart defect. The genetic augmentation treatment wouldn’t give it a super heart.. It just fixes an existing weakness and give the baby the best heart it could have for its existing body. I could go on into this kind of science but it would take to long here in the comments. Now…cybernetics could definitely affect this but she just has small implants that were made to put her back together. She also most likely has hearing and vision assistance implants. As well as other implants that run her at peak conditions and can stun her when she is getting exhausted. BUT…She doesn’t, for instance, have two fully cybernetic arms and spine which she would need if she were, say, going to have the strength of a Krogan as a human. But she could probably support the weight of an injured Krogan if she had the body of a soldier (and not a waiflike model) that would come from real genetic augmentation and cybernetic implants.

Gotta appreciate how BioWare made Kaidan from an absolutely boring plank of wood in ME1, to such an actually engaging character in ME3

He always was a good and unjustified hated character tbh. You just had to dig deeper and empathize where he is at/coming from in ME1 than with the other characters. And people seriously confuse well adjusted mature adult with boring which is a shame.

Mostly every character in ME can be hated or loved due to having flaws etc. Kaidan just doesn't have much charisma compared to the others. I admit his conversations aren't the most entertaining in ME1, but he did have interesting things to say.

Kaidan doesn't ahve as much charisma as the others, but that doesn't make him any less interesting. Honestly, the same could be said for every human squadmate except Miranda. I think that the other squadmates have their charisma and naturally interesting characters amplified by the mere fact that they're aliens, thereby drowning out their human counterparts. This is purely a crackpot theory however.

Did they forget that Shep's Canadian when they made this scene? Or would this be more down to a slight altering to the dialogue depending on if you're Shep is from Earth or not?

No, I don't think so. Each has their pick on the characters but the endings just were conceived with the input of a select few who didn't bother coordinate with the rest.

That is the beauty of these games after all 😉 I like Ashley but Kaidan really shines in ME3, be it romance, friendship-wise or in combat (he is a biotic beast) while Ashley has not as much content/interaction with everyone tbh. Plus vega is already filling the soldier role so yeah.

I always forget that there's an option for Kaiden to actually be alive in ME2 and ME3 XD

Not buying the whole Canadian thing. Not one “Eh” (Ay) in the whole conversation.....

The funny thing about the "calling your CO an ass" line in the end is...at this point Kaidan actually outranks Shepard (in the Alliance, anyway. As Spectres they're of equal rank, although Shepard of course has some seniority :P).

I chose to save Williams for her family and having placed her with Kirrahe squad made it much easier. Kaidan struck me as someone who was at peace of where he was.

Did anyone else see the ark on the tv?

With all his interactions in ME1 in mind I bet that if you let kaidan enter your house he will instantly think you want to marry him

That was my major problem in ME1. Being a friend to any of the squadmates forced you into one romance or another. Often without any chemistry or indication. I just wanted to be a friendly space cowboy.

The ark video in the background is likely the Ark mod which hasn't been ported to LE yet. The hair and top on Shepard are just some of the mods you can find on the nexus.

@@dreammirrorbrony1240 The visuals for Shepard are mods, as is the andromeda ark video in the background. The actual cutscene is default im pretty sure, just in the citadel dlc. I'm not sure if either of the mods are ported to LE yet though

Probably because the hair, as is the case with most other hair mods, is taken from the Sims or Sims Mods.

That it's the original Mass Effect 3 with mods, so yeah, thought I say that if you don't care about mods or if you only interested in the new combat mechanics of Mass Effect 1, then LE is good, but if that's not the case then just stick with the og trilogy like you already say lolo
