The programmer doesn't have to. The level designer would have though. And the QA tester would have actually had to wait this length of time. Quite a few times. (Unless they had a script that could speed up time in game without breaking stuff).

There's an easier and more relevant way to get it...without spoilers, later in the mission the clock moves down to about 1.5 hours real time. You SHOULD be able to complete the mission in that time, but it's plausibly possible not to.

I'm about 90% sure the voice is just Femshep screaming "GARRUS!" presumably during the suicide mission, but clouded up with editing and filters.

This is like when I decided to take James up in his offer that I couldnt do 183 pull ups. I've never getting those 35 minutes back...

That’s incredible they actually made a cut scene instead of just going to the critical mission failure screen 😱

If you think about it, the reason why Kenson didn't say or interact with Shepard for two days was because she wanted the project to fail. Shepard: "I'll just hang out here for 2 days" Indoctrinated Kenson: "...cool"

The reason why i loved this is because it did such a good job of creating tension. Every moment i was reminded of the imminent impending doom. In the final part there wasn't a timer on screen saying how much time i had left. The timer was the mass relay that was getting closer and closer by the minute.

Well that was... nightmare fuel...

The end cutscene only gets worse if you watch at .25 speed, everything's a little clearer, the noise is heavily distorted and horrifying, and you get to hear Kelly's awful distorted screams as she gets Thanos'd.

My ONLY motivation to stop the Reapers is to save that sweet girl Yeoman Kelly Chambers.

And frankly for the Batarians in the Alpha Relay range it was 2 options, either be harvested and turned into 'Cannibals' by the Reapers or be blasted by the Relay and die scared but quickly. Imma go with the later but apparently the Batarians are on the Council's side and want to be Cannibals.

Had already seen it when the DLC released, but it's cool to see it once more. I couldn't resist waiting, to see if there would be any secret. When I first saw the timer I thought " Oh wow, I want to let it expire, to see what happens " . Then realized I'd have to wait 2 days and thought " Meh... whatever. Maybe another time. " But then, a bit later in the mission there's like only 20mins to wait, so I thought " OK. I'm definitely waiting then. Eventually seeing a secret ending is worth the wait. " The most impressive thing to me in this video will always be to see the illusive man outside of his facility. Standing on Illium, next to Ashley and Miranda ( and most of Shep's crew, can easily spot Garrus and Jacob for example ) . It's as if the leader of Cerberus is welcomed among Shep's crew to witness the end of the world. Even Ash isn't bothered to stand next to the leader of Cerberus, despite the fact she hates Cerberus so much she refuses to join Shepard on Horizon. Gotta remember that this is in ME2 so we had never seen him outside of his dark room yet, at the time. It's crazy to think that the 1st time we do see him out, is for a fail cinematic that probably most people never saw. Thinking about that will always be jaw dropping to me.

You only have to wait around 30 minutes or so after the reactor is blown up, and you have to evacuate the asteroid.

Never thought I'd see Ashley standing next to the Illusive man!

If Shepard activates the project, then the asteroid should still hit the relay. Never did feel like waiting over a whole hour, let alone two days lol 😝

Love how after all you went through in the main game of Mass Effect 2, you could fuck up this random DLC and have it all have been for nothing.

Never expected something like this. I had a feeling there'd probably a special cutscene Easter egg (If it counts as one) but I didn't expect it to be similar to that of a prothean beacon. I didn't think anyone would wait and was actually thinking "maybe nothing would happen. No one would have the patience to wait, right?" Turns out I was wrong. Makes you think, though. The devs knew people would wait, didn't they? Perhaps this is what Kenson saw in her vision.

I have a screenshot saved of the timer on my PC from playing this a few weeks ago and I was planning to post it to the mass effect subreddit to ask if anyone had ever let the timer run out. Then I see this! If you play later into the mission the timer gets down to like an hour or so I think.

Played this DLC for first time in Legendary Edition. My first thought was what if I wait... My second thought was I'll just find a video of it on KZread Glad to see that the devs didn't do something lazy such as reset the clock or something

When it gets to the end of the countdown change the speed to .25 and you can slow down the flashing images see a neat lil alt ending to the game

It’s these little details which sets mass effect apart
