Where writers, producers, developers put actual effort in creating something, and not just slap classic straight forward, dull, fetch quest galore (khm....Andromeda mission design...khm) "rpg". If they want grinding game put some sense into it, sense of progress and actual payoff.

    Nice analysis! A "many worlds interpretation" plot might mean that not only every ending is canon, but that every decision made from every different Shepard is simultaneously canon and non canon, depending on the universe. What you experience is just one of the many possibilities. Maybe there's an universe where the Reapers were defeated early because the Council chose to believe Shepard instead of being obstructive bureaucrats at every turn. That would be kind of funny.

    If that's the case, then it literally invalidates the entire premise of the game, which is "choices matter". If this tripe-bloated travesty has any bearing on the game at all, Mass Effect instantly becomes worse than season 8 of GoT. This is literally the absolute WORST possible development for the franchise. Nothing is more lame to a story than the garbage idea that there really aren't any consequences after all. Just consider...if Liara is stealing Shepard from another parallel instance, she is DOOMING an entire galaxy to perpetual obliteration. She becomes the worst criminal in all history.

    One thing I never see KZreadrs taking into account is the fact that FTL comm signals can take decades to travel across the galaxy without the use of the mass relays and we're most likely hearing OLD signals from the Reaper War hitting the galactic fringes long after the fact. This is most likely misdirection from BioWare to keep all but the most hardcore fans guessing. Thank you for noticing and covering this fact.

    Voices 4 & 5 are the Kett. It sounds identical to them & even what they say sort of makes sence. "They do match" meaning(the species here match them that turned up in Andromeda) & "Upon an unknown horizon" possibly meaning(they are coming towards our galaxy) which would be an Unknown horizon.

    It would also fit the themes surrounding the kett - imperialism and colonialism a la 17th-19th century British. In Andromeda, the angarans were deliberately meant to remind us of Caribbean and Austronesian peoples (the dialects, the climate of their worlds), and the _other_ major British colonization was North America, which had just suffered a major crisis and wasn't in a state to defend itself.

    @Cinquan Shepard must not return under any circumstance! Him/her making the ultimate sacrifice is the only fitting end for the epicness of the background story. The Reapers existed for over a billion years, invaded over 20,000 times, destroyed tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of species, killed at least quadrillions of individuals....and then Shepard comes along, defeats them and rides off into the sunset like after having a tavern brawl? Ridiculous. Your playthroughs only meant something if Shepard dies in the end of ME3. If Shepard survives the entire scale of what was at scope here is diminished into worthlessness.

    I agree the wrinkles don't mean that Liara has gotten a lot older. When you look at Benezia, Samara, and Aethyta, all of them are matriarchs and they don't have those wrinkles. Also, when doing the crash site mission, you can find your old helmet and you take it back to your cabin. Also, during Project Lazarus, they say that the helmet helped keep his brain intact or something like that. So when Liara found Shepard's body to give to Cerberus, did she leave the helmet? And if she did, you can find the same helmet on Alchera during the memorial mission. With all of that, I find it very hard to believe that that is Shepard's helmet. If it were, it would be on Earth or on the Citadel. The helmet is the most confusing part to me.

  • @dorottyapapp

    @dorottyapapp

    Ай бұрын

    The helmet could be a plot hole, or what we can collect from the wreckage of the Normady could be another one, not what s/he wore when s/he died. I bet Shepard kept spare ones in her/his cabin.

  • @JezaGaia

    @JezaGaia

    Liara getting the body back is in a comic they wrote and in fact Liara grabs the body and brings it to cerberus but she isn't the one to go to the crash site to recover it. Some Shadow Broker operatives did it and Liara manages to "steal" the body before it can be delivered. So who knows what that operative did with the Helmet. If they put Shepard in a sort of cryo stasis to avoid the body decomposing they might have removed the helmet... they might alos have removed it just so the face shows so that there is no doubt on the identity of the body ?

    Are you an incarnation of Sherlock? You did an insanely lot of investigation and it's a well put together video with a professional outlook. Awesome work! The N7 Morse code is a cool detail. Those audio snippets are really hard to understand. I have to listen to them a few more times. That's our local cluster? Damn. Mass Effect: Homecoming Some crazy-unhinged-not-to-take-seriously ideas that just popped up in my head during the video: What if in the parallel universe the Jardaan are the Reapers and trying to achieve synthesis by creating the Angara. What if in the parallel universe Liara took Alec's offer (and that's him in the background) and went to Andromeda so never met with Shepard. Also there would be two Liara on the Mudskipper. 😂 The parallel universe's Shepard can feel like cloneShep. In the case of Perfect Destroy there would be two Shepard. But why would they look for the other if they have the original? 🤨 The main storyline have to be the same for everyone. Will they find the otherShep accidentally while investigating the aftermath of the Crucible beam?

  • @paragonseven

    @paragonseven

    Ай бұрын

    Appreciate it, thank you! I did some serious thinking on whether aspects of parallel worlds will be a huge part of the next game's plot, and from what we've seen so far, I don't think it will be. There's enough plot threads from Andromeda to continue the story, IMO. So as of right now, I think the parallel worlds (if it's even a thing) will only be used to get Shepard back for the Synthesis and normal Destroy playthroughs. What we see in the trailer might not apply to all players (like if Perfect Destroy Shep is alive, then Liara wouldn't need to hop to a parallel world to grab a different Shep).

  • @dorottyapapp

    @dorottyapapp

    Ай бұрын

    @@paragonseven Yeah, but hopping into a parallel universe (if it's a thing) is quite a big event that can change the world state drastically. Like finding the Prothean ruins on Mars. So IMO it has to happen in every possible playthrough (regardless of Shepard) even if the main plot won't be around it. Also I'm happy to see more Andromeda.

  • @paragonseven

    @paragonseven

    Ай бұрын

    @@dorottyapapp Definitely agree on all playthroughs having parallel worlds, but I'm not sure it's necessary if the writing team makes Perfect Destroy, and Shepard living, valid. Unless the parallel worlds plotline is bigger than we think...

  • @dorottyapapp

    Ай бұрын

    @@paragonseven I aggre that it's not necessarily at all. And everything depends on what BW decided to happen. (Who knows if this will be the main topic of MENext??????) I personally don't want parallel universes or time travel in ME for the sake of narrative problem solving or just to bring Shepard back. (I believe they are creative enough to write themselves out of this mess.) But if they chose this route it should occure "naturally" (that grows out of the game's worldbuilding), based on the Crucible beam's aftereffect, the scourge, black holes, etc. Which means it can happen even if they let Shepard rest in peace or if Perfect Destroy is canon and Shepard is well and alive.

    I think the biggest stretch in the video is the Feynman theory. The description says "24 moons", the trailer only shows 2 instead of, say, 9 or more. While it's more important to humanity than most others, the evidency is shaky at best. And regarding the quantum mechanics, what stops Liara from collecting tens, hundreds, thousands of Shepards, if she has an easy access to timeline traversal? What does she need this parallel Alchera Shepard for (or any dead Shepard for that matter if there're worlds with alive ones)? And again, this theory completely disregards the original "omg Shep is alive" moment, so why not show that one instead?

    15:20 I hear “a hidden probe relay”. If not I’m 99% sure it says relay. Could be the use of relays during multiverse/blackhole travel. Possibly explaining how a black hole doesn’t destroy the ship, as you never see a relay’s effect on the structure of the ship. With the relays being crafted from an “all knowing” species (reapers), it could mean that the relay can make the ship not just travel FTL but reduce/nullify the stretching and warping of a black hole.

    HOLD UP. @13:00 is NOT a Relay, it's the CITADEL. And remember the Citadel was a type of long-long range relay, which means somewhere in Dark Space must be a DARK CITADEL where the Reapers nested. This might be a crucial clue in connecting to Andromeda. Fantastic deep dive!

    While it does resemble the Citadel a little at that angle… take a closer look. It has the inner ring system of Mass Effect Relays and it’s the perspective that makes it seem as if it has Ward arms. When it really doesn’t. The relay is pointing towards us. It’s a relay. I mistook it for the Citadel myself for a long time.

    I discussed this in a past livestream, but it's size matches that of a relay, not the Citadel. The floating debris around it helps us figure out the size of the structure. The Citadel also doesn't have a double ring in it's centre but mass relays do. It'd be crazy if it was, but I find it unlikely.

Basically, the path of a particle to its final destination is related to all possible paths to get there. Hear me out @Paragon7. My biggest problems with this explanation are for one that Alchera is halfway across the galaxy from Earth so there is NO WAY you gonna see the Local Cluster in the sky like that, but frankly it is detail so maybe just don't refer to this nebula/cluster as LC? But mostly I'm hoping that this explanation is wrong because both backwards time travel and parallel worlds is gonna completely destroy the original Mass Effect lore which was already stretched enough by the Andromeda and do we really want to pay this price for the Shepard's return? I have another idea, what if this teaser is not to be taken literally, what if it's symbolic, acknowledging the many different endings of ME3 and maybe saying they are gonna make it up for the sacrifice of those who chose the non-surviveable endings of ME3? Because the parallel universe Shepard is just as problematic as Shepard clone. It is NOT the Shepard we know in ME2 and 3 and that is a big problem, for all we know (ahem ahem Invincible) parallel Shepard might even be outright evil.

But instead of the "crude clone" from the Citadel DLC perhaps they found away recreate and upload memories and reconstruct a personality. And the 2nd question is why. Why do they need Shepard again. It will have to be something that's at least as threating as the Reapers to justify bringing back a soldier like that from the dead.

    I guess I'd also argue that the idea that Liara caresses the N7 helmet piece because she knows WHO the helmet belongs to is something I'm still not sure is a 100% given; it's equally plausible that instead, we see Liara having a very sentimental moment over the helmet insignia because she knew an N7 once that she was fond of. Obviously, we're all just theorycrafting over What Does It Mean, Actually? so who knows, but :D

    @@paragonseven Sure. I guess what gets me about this from a storyworld standpoint is, like.. I just don't understand is why people in the storyworld would be going through SO much effort to recover Shepard again, or why we'd essentially be rehashing the plot of ME2 again? Like there's so much elaborate theorycrafting for HOW Shepard 2.0 is on Alchera 2.0 for a Recovery 2.0 in the next Mass Effect, and ignoring the discussions on yada yada fan cope and such, like, _why_? This would be an enormous, incredible amount of effort expended to recover Shepard once again. Shepard = Special™. It kinda slides toward the Great Man Theory, and I guess I have to ask, why should the galaxy need to bend around them? Why should they need to be the hero again? What makes Shep so important that the galaxy would place so much effort into reviving them again, other than being a player character? I feel like a lot of people overlook how much of Shepard's accomplishments is because of having strong relationships with people; I don't believe there's anything intrinsically Special TM about Shepard, other than being the right person at the right time and also having the benefit of Player Character Magic TM. And maybe it works out in that we are seeing a scenario where the next game is set shortly after ME3 and all of Shepard's friends and allies are there and waiting. Maybe. But maybe it IS 600 years in the future. Maybe most of Shepard's friends and allies ARE dead. What then? [screams]

    @@dorottyapapp well and I would argue that, despite the narrative of Shepard Special TM and the narrative of Humans Special TM -- the stories of the trilogy and of Andromeda are ultimately about collaboration and teamwork. No one person makes it all happen - it's the work of every person, each in their own little way, that brings it all together. Shepard might have fired the Crucible in the final hour of the war, but who made it possible? The untold millions, billions, trillions of lives that came in previous cycles who researched the Crucible? Liara, who found it in the Mars Archive? The multitude of scientists, engineers, technicians, laborers, etc, who actually built it? The many people who gave their lives escorting the Crucible to the Citadel? The many, many people who fought and died to make sure Shepard got the beam run? And gods knows who else more. But we tend to undersell their contributes, and overstate Shepard's, because Shepard is the main character, the player character, and the power fantasy in the trilogy story.

    If we're going with multiversal theory, then it's possible the Geth megastructure could be used as a massive super computer in order to make the calculations necessary to open an Einstein Rosen Bridge through space and time using a massive blackhole. Maybe the story of the next mass effect is going to be about finding a way to bring back Shepard and not being brought back as Shepard.

    ok im just found your video while randomly surfing youtube...and im so glad i did! ...i didnt know of more mass effect trailers yet alone breakdowns... If your willing to hear me out i have a few things id like to add. ill apologize for the length now...its ended up being longer than i intended cause text is a slower form of communication than voice.... as for the inactive relay shown in the trailer and the audio that goes with it i have a idea as to which relays it may be. In the trailer pan away from Feynman to the relay it doesnt seem to me as if it goes as far or as fast as it did from the geth megastructure. So that says to me we are still at least somewhat close to Feynman. Also the bright light behind it may have been the same star that Feynman orbits so we are either in the same system or at least close to it. (could be completely wrong there though admittedly) As for the two relays i think it could be is either the Relay in Widow leading to the Citadel or possibly the Relay in Sol leading to Earth. As both are be heavily defended but also in ME1 and ME3 big massive battles that would result in a debris field of such size do occur. In ME1 in Widow when Sovereign and the Geth attack the Citadel as it is revealed that the Citadel itself is just a massive Mass Relay leading to Dark Space in between galaxies where the Reapers wait until the proper time to sweep across the galaxy once more but the protheans sabotaged it so the keepers would not respond to the activation signal to open it. Thats why sovereign attacked to try to break through and open it and in your Quantum Mechanics explanation and the many worlds theory maybe the "world" where Sheppard was left dead on Alchera was also a world where Sovereign was actually successful in opening the Citadel Relay. It would explain the combat comms you hear in the trailer as well as the call out of a "dreadnaught" as that could be Harbinger coming through the relay as you hear the Reaper Roar. Which does help with the Many Worlds Theory. My personal opinion though is that it is the relay around Sol. My reasoning for this is that 1 if Sheppard had failed back on the Citadel to stop sovereign they would likely not have ended up on Alchera later on as the Reaper hoard would have poured through the relay. So in this "other world" the events of ME1 would have had to still taken place for the Collectors to destroy the Normandy leading to Sheppard falling to Alchera in ME2. The Reapers in ME3 had taken and moved the Citadel into orbit of Earth at the end of the game as they were going to start their "collecting" with the human race and the entire galactic fleet and the Crucible had to attack the forces in Sol to then connect with the citadel to fire the weapon. It would have been the single largest fleet in the entire series to have an engagement leading to the massive debris field around the relay as that was the one and only entry point into the Sol system. Harbinger was there and to my understanding he was the single largest of all the Reapers so the dreadnaught referenced i think is him. Another reason i say its the Sol relay is because after the firing of the Crucible it would have been the very first relay to be affected by it and it would take time for that to propagate through the relay network which is show cased by the short scene after the firing where Joker is trying his best to outrun the effect before it shortly after overtakes the Normandy. This would also explain why the next bit of audio is "is anyone receiving this we've lost contact" as the effect is not instantaneous. As the story of ME1 2 and 3 unfolds the SINGLE most important relay to the entire series is the Sol relay in my opinion so it makes sense to me to be depicting Sols relay there. Another reason I feel its the Sol relay is the entire trailer from start to finish seems to be a galactic timeline of sorts. it starts with opening dramatic scenes with the morse code of N7 and both the Andromeda and Milky Way galaxies in frame is a nod to the "Mass Effect" universe as a whole. Then it pans in to show nebula and the Megastructure and the paired audio with these scenes are of the "unknown contact" referencing the First Contact Wars which are all events that are from before the events of ME1. The next scene is of what is possibly the planet Feynman and the audio that does along with it "Humanity now stands as partners of the galaxy" is set AFTER the FCW and signifies that the Human race is now part of the galaxy as a whole and for a race to have a member of the Specters which we all know Sheppard was your race as a whole has to have had significant impact on the galaxy at large. Which leads into the events of ME1. The next scene is the camera shooting away from the planet and the audio of "Ark 6 is away Godspeed". I personally do not remember EXACTLY when the arks were built and sent to Andromeda but what i do remember is it was sometime after the end of ME1 and before the start of ME3. Then the trailer showcases the Mass Relay in question with the debris field and the paired audio of the combat comms and the reaper roar. That is why i think it is the Sol relay as the trailer is a timeline of galactic events and in ME3 the big battle and the firing of the Crucible all takes place at Earth at the end of ME3. The debris and rocks around relay have no distinguishing markers as that battle was a galactic battle all races were present and fighting. Asari, Turian, Salarian, Krogan, and all other races. So i think its left indistinguishable as a way to say "we are all in this together" sorta thing. The rocks are i believe yes a transition but also i remember reading that the Sol relay was discovered on the outer edge of our solar system within the Ort Cloud. Which is just a massive bubble of asteroids around our solar system. the next scene is of empty space and the audio of lost contact is after the events of ME3 when the relay network is now busted and no one has communication with anyone from outside their local area. Then theres the layered voices after that which i believe is the start of the new story line of the new ME. Up until this point the timeline has skipped from doing 100s of year per jump to a handful of years per jump. which could explain why some transitions seem really fast and long while the others seem slower and shorter. the time for the transition is a representation of the time between events. I think the layered voices represent the anomalies and Liara rescuing Sheppard from Alchera are all events that will take place just shortly before the new Mass Effect. ...in your quantum mechanics explanation the Voice lines 1 and 3 could be important to a return of Sheppard as well. Voice 1 talking a probe would be significant as well as they would have to make sure by scans that THAT Alchera was the one they would have been looking for or that these "anomalies" would even allow for such a thing. Voice 3 saying "It beats the heart" could be a reference to how Sheppard was revived in ME2. the problem is in voice you dont "see" punctuation if you type it as "It beats, The heart" it gives a bit more meaning to the sentence with that single little comma. Also just as i was about to wrap this up something else occurred to me about the voice lines. In keeping with the timeline theme of the video at large if you arranged the voices in order of 2, 1, 5, 4, 3 then you get yet another "timeline" of sorts. 2 talks about the anomalies appearing all over the place. Scientists are going to want to know what these are and with this all happening after the reaper war people will want to know "is this their doing?" ...and as a side note here what i hear is "Anomaly readings all across (audio cuts out and returns with) me and space". The "me" there being the last half of the word "time" and the word "and" being pronounced as "an" as in "time an space". Although that could just be me... 1 is referencing a probe which any scientific people would use when trying to figure out just what these anomalies are. are they safe? where did they come from? where do they go? Liara is a scientist after all 5 is talking about an unknown horizon which is a phrase i have heard before from history when talking about exploration (i cannot remember for the life of me just where or in what context i remember reading that) as in exploring these anomalies. 4 says "they do match" which could be referencing some scanner readings from a probe indicating that the readings are showing a "Sheppard" being down on Alchera because of the quantum mechanics and the many worlds theory. 3 says "it beats the heart" is now saying Sheppard's heart is now beating again after being successfully revived like in ME2. which Liara would of known about and known was possible and even how exactly to do it. Sheppard did tell her how they were revived as well as Liara did become the Shadow Broker and very likely would have very easily been able to get the information on just how to do it. so when arranged in such way not only is the entire trailer a timeline of sorts but the voice lines are just as likely to be a timeline of sorts when arranged properly. again i apologize for just how long this comment is...
