When I started this journey my brain had to get used to hearing these men talk about Mass Effect like brothers. Now when I see them on tv it just feels wrong to hear them talking about literally anything else. So…good job.

I legit just use the heatsink regen mod to make it feel less stupid. Having the sinks discharge heat overtime, with the option to reload quickly instead, makes much more sense.

I headcanon that major defects are found in the ME1 firearms. After enough/unpredictable amount of uses the weapons overheating explodes killing the user and anyone in the vicinity. We do find new weapons near constantly in ME1. Basically it becomes economically unviable to continue using the heatsink weapons because you have to constantly get rid and replace them due to the threat of explosion. You can also throw in that thermal clip firearms are indisputably more damaging than heatsinks. It's not perfect but it's something. I've always liked thermal clips over infinite ammunition weapons from a gameplay perspective but yeah, lorewise it's rough.

The thing with unlimited ammo is one of the things I hate about Mass Effect 1. There is no such thing as unlimited ammo because eventually the hunk of metal inside the gun will run out of material to produce bullets with. 🙄

It's too bad Mass Effect 2 makes diplomacy virtually non-existent. Almost every encounter now ends in bloodshed and it results in a lot of dead beauties. And Mass Effect 3 is full of cringe dialogue and is incredibly linear and has lots of contrived crap in the plot line.

Mass Effect 1 is surprisingly short when you don't do most of the side missions.

I sensed it in the Biotic will of the Galaxy. The time was soon upon which the final arrow in Mass Effect 1 would be drawn. And so I rode back and watched all prior episodes just this last week. Here we are. And here Bardon Joe will defeat Sovereign.

My running theory is that Donald is good at the game because he has the best overall gaming skill, while Barack is good because he has it memorized front to back. If the two were to pick up a brand new game at the same time, Donald would pull ahead

Valid, but not conducive to breezing through high difficulty. If this were Halo, Donald is the Kyle who spent long hours grinding multiplayer matches and shouting racial slurs. Barack is the nerd who read all the books and followed the development cycle. Probably also went looking for skulls and got the high campaign scoring achievements and beat it on Legendary. Joe played the campaign on Normal and custom games with friends.

Technically, Jack could be romanced before Miranda... Although that'd probably enrage Joe

Death count: Donald - 4 deaths Obama - 3 deaths Biden - 5 deaths So technically Obama has the least deaths... but Donald has 4 playthroughs while the rest has 3, so the the proper death count should be: Donald - 1 death/playthrough Obama - 1 death/playthrough Biden - 1,6 death/playthrough So actually, Donald wasn't worse than Obama. Most of the deaths in this game happened because of Sentinel class being extremely squishy which caused countless one-shots from random rockets and sniper shots

Interesting tidbit on the discussion about languages in Mass Effect: In ME1, they hadn't come up with the concept of universal translators yet. After the game released, they got so many questions about that topic that they included a codex entry about the universal translators in the BDtS DLC. There's actually a retconned reference to "Galactic", a universal language analogous to Galactic Basic from Star Wars, on the Noveria mission (when Alestia Iallis talks about some genetics mumbo jumbo and Shepard asks her to "translate that to Galactic"). This implies that, originally, everyone was speaking Galactic and we were just hearing it translated as English for the sake of the story.

Funny, i don't remember about "Galactic" at all. I remember entry in codex about translators and line of dialog on Citadel in ME2. When you speak with salarian that sells games he talks about batarians that refuses to enable translators during multiplayer games.

@PrimeRadiancy Ashley is wary of alien governments because she knows damn well that the Council will sell humanity down the river if it feels like it has to. On some level, she's actually incredibly insightful about the psychology of aliens, given that that's exactly what humans *_did and would do_* to one another over far pettier differences than species. Terra Firma disdains all aliens because "ew! Aliens! Ew! Turians! Cringe!! Shanxi, Shanxi, Shanxi (even though I didn't fight there, and none of my relatives did, either, probably). Let's become like the Batarian Hegemony, refusing to negotiate or talk to anybody about anything, because aliens are cringe. But also: fuck the Hegemony, because we don't understand Horseshoe Theory". Yeah, the official party-line is far more moderate, but c'mon. Ashley *_knows_* racism when she sees it, she's also just bad at expressing herself. Her concerns are rooted in "humanity needs to stand strong and fight for its interests", with Shanxi being a focal point, but there was never any indication that she would ever personally mistreat anybody just because of the way they're born, nor is there any indication that she would stand behind the idea of telling every other species in the galaxy to get bent and never engaging in any diplomacy. No other character, ever, in the entire trilogy, will ever even *_hint_* at Ashley being xenophobic in any way- not even Joker will comment on it. It's entirely possible that her concerns about Garrus and Wrex were, at least partially, due to her desire to over-perform/compensate, as she was still nervous about her new posting on the Normandy, and wasn't sure that Shepard wouldn't eventually snub her because of her grandfather, like every other CO she ever had. "A Williams has to be better than the best, if only to avoid suspicion". If Garrus thought there might be a security-risk by allowing foreign nationals on a Hierarchy warship, he'd probably bring up that concern to his CO, too, if only to show himself being diligent. Terra Firma also says that humanity needs to stand strong, and grandstands over Shanxi, but Ashley correctly surmises that their beliefs are rooted in hatred and fear of The Other, whereas her beliefs are rooted in love and pride for the Alliance and her family. Even if she, rightly, has many criticisms of the Alliance and the way it treated her and her grandfather. 32:50 - Oddly enough, if you talk to Ashley at some point, she'll mention that everyone on the squad has "suit-cameras", capturing information from every mission lmao 46:30 - Funny enough, Tali, no matter what, is the True Neutral on the spectrum of Paragon versus Renegade.

First of all, congratulations on the conclusion of your current Magnus Opus, but not because I think that this will be your best piece of content. The amount of banter, additional context of the story you instill through dialogue, and mixing the balance of story with commentary is mind numbing. From attempting my hands at this type of content, I know how incredibly time consuming and frustrating it can be. Funny thing: If you got renegade tilt in your morality, even if you save the Council, ending meeting with a Council still be with this menacing music and darker tone. Council will admit, that humanity's badass inclination to get the job done no matter the cost works. Sparatus even will tell, that the illusions of peace are shattered and Reaper's existence can't be denied. Even more - they won't even really offer humans to join the Council - Udina gonna be like: "Yeah, we take that Council seat, bitches."

51:19 fun fact, there's actually a setting in the .ini files (in ME1LE these were bundled into the coalesced.bin in the same way they were for the original ME2 and ME3 and can no longer be accessed directly with notepad) to enable friendly fire. There's also some other interesting settings in there, but there's no way to edit these in-game. In original ME1 these were stored in text files, but with LE you need a program to unpack the .bin before accessing these files. Anyways, great work with this series. It's been fun and has always brightened my days whenever I saw this show up in my sub box.

25:55 Funny, after finishing ME1, I always wondered how Shepard going to sneak in dark space to find a whole bunch of sleeping Reapers. Maybe even see their bases as they construct other Reapers to blow them all with some superweapon. (Yes, I am rewatching this epic series over and over).

Just finished my (lost count) ME1 run last night, and finished binging this series. This series is so funny and well-written. Assume series just watched the hole thing over again. Honestly one if not the best thing I am watching on KZread atm. Keep it up. This is a cracked idea and is so cool to watch. I love this alternate universe where these three are kinda friends.

I just listened to the first nine episodes earlier today. Now my day is complete.

I will say, I very distinctly remember doing an all human council and the dialogue in 2 implied that it did actually happen but they were having to deal with the alien species being uppity that the humans had seized all the power, which also resulted in Shepard being unable to be given Spectre status. Been a long time since I did that though and it was on the OG games. In any case, it is very interesting how Bioware did the end of the first game. If you think about it, the ending is set so it could go both ways. If the game had bombed, then the story could be left here and everything would be pretty neatly tied up in a one and done. And obviously, if there was a second game, there was just enough wiggle room that they could make believable extensions of your choices. Very forward thinking. Also, thank you for having Donald get back at Joe a little bit by not dying a second time. Now all that needs to happen is for Jack to die during the suicide mission and all will be right in the world.

You have 3 decisions that play role in the ending and it gives you 8 different tones or sets of characters appearing and final speech. 1) paragon, save council, Anderson 2) paragon, save council, Udina 3) paragon, kill council, Anderson 4) paragon, kill council, Udina 5) renegade, save council, Anderson 6) renegade, save council, Udina 7) renegade, kill council, Anderson 8) renegade, kill council, Udina Paragon is on the promenade while renegade stays in the tower. The tone also changes because of that - you have heroic music and characters praising your idealism and will to cooperate for paragon and dark music with characters talking about human dominance or at least ruthlessness. The future councillor will have a speech which also varies depending on the morality and between Udina and Anderson. But basically there are 4 ways things are set to move for the next game. a) humanity joins former council paragon - stronger together, cooperation b) humanity joins former council renegade - we all prepare together for dark times, galaxy isn't a safe place c) humanity creates new council with cooperation paragon - we saw no choice but to focus on Sovereign, let's start anew and better but still cooperate d) humanity creates new council and rules it renegade - Cerberus' dream with human dominance
