the biggest withheld content/dlc crime EA forced Bioware to commit was removing Javik from the main game. the Thessia arc's meaning changes with what was most likely supposed to be a mission Liara and Javik are required. the ancient aliens presentation imo is vital and that being cut from the main game and replaced with the optional squad member saying stuff like "its weird/something's not right/ we're missing something" make this quest more shallow imo. ive seen other scenes where Javik is key. a shame players who didnt wanna pay that much for the download missed such essential content

Evan Nesbitt nah, by the time of Mass effect 3, where Cerberus is at their most active and open, TIMs’ viewpoint has definitely become to try and dominate the reapers. You have to notice throughout all the other games that people aligned to the Reapers thought they were doing the right thing for the right reasons yet instead were doing bad things. Saren, Udina... Cerberus went full indocrinated when they started attacking the galaxy in ME3. They "thought" they were helping, but all they were helping were the Reapers. That's the beauty of the Indocrination. Even the super smart Illusive Man wasn't aware he was indocrinated.
@Swelly_K
6 жыл бұрын
What I find interesting about indoctrination is that it doesn't only exist in a fictional space game, if you search for the official definition it means ''the process of teaching a person or group to accept a set of beliefs'' everybody can be a victim of this, even wealthy and intelligent leaders will do things that they perceive as the best choice to the detriment of others.
@SovietReunionYT
6 жыл бұрын
MrCrazyClaw, Reaper "indoctrination" goes way beyond what we can do in the real world since it involves actual telepathic mind altering and gradually damages the affected person's brain.
Even without Javik there, you can still find out that Athame was likely a Prothean. If you examine all the artifacts in the room, eventually you can piece together that the Asari did inherit their technology from the Protheans. It goes slower, and is much more subtle and vague, but it is there.
Liara: "The beacon seem to think you’re Prothean, Shepard. It must be the cipher you found back on Feros" Javik: "Bitch, I’m RIGHT HERE"

And this explains why Control and Synthesis endings are exactly what the Reapers want. Run quiet for a few years, make everyone think Shepard's got shit under control and then BOOM, HARVEST BITCHES
@linkenski
9 жыл бұрын
Control is what they already have basically, synthesis is what they've always seeked, and destroy is chaos unless Shepard's cycle proves to be different like it hints and the synthetics they inevitably create will be at peace like EDI and Joker or the Geth and the Quarians. It's still a shame Shepard can't challenge the Catalyst's logic by using EDI and the Geth as evidence of a peaceful pattern of created vs creators.
@FalconWindblader
7 жыл бұрын
+Linkenski The likes of reapers have seen countless synthetic-organic relations for thousands of millennia, & have concluded long ago that without synthesis--something organics are usually very unwilling to go through, those relations will eventually always suffer. even if Shep brought about a successful reconciliation between the Geth & the Quarians, & then EDI to bear, the catalyst would just dismiss these to be extreme, isolated, outlier cases, & not worth fighting over.
@linkenski

Falcon Windblade "The likes of reapers have seen countless synthetic-organic relations for thousands of millennia, & have concluded long ago that without synthesis--something organics are usually very unwilling to go through" I believe everyone who played the extended cut understand as much, but the problem is still exactly this; The empirical data in the reasoning is missing from what the player can relate to; what we have seen throughout Mass Effect 1 and 2 and 3 until the ending. There is no context beyond what the Leviathan or the Catalyst talks about. You can buy it if you're okay with *their* version of the events, but Mass Effect as a narrative was not about the story the Catalyst is referring to, and thus it becomes an incredibly weak ending becase you're forced to consider such a huge choice for an issue we've not even experienced, we've only been told about it. It's basic "show don't tell" done wrong. It's the typical example of what bad writers do. The Geth and Quarians is a complete strawman argument in relation to the Catalyst's story. In good stories the events reinforce whatever will be addressed in the ending to form a conclusion -- it's like writing an essay or a bachelor. You make exposition, analysis and perspectivate. A leads to B, B leads to C so as a reader you can follow the logic. In the ending you can't because information is too vague or missing to resonate emotioanlly with any of the really effectively written events *throughout the trilogy*. ME3 doesn't follow through, and it doesn't matter how much some vague lore of millenia ago justifies it; as a *story* it completely fails to resonate. It's just bad storytelling. I would even argue Mass Effect 3 is barely a story anymore by the time the ending happens because there is no flow of logic that leads from A to B to C. Instead there is "A to B to ??????" or "?????? to ?????? to C" The flow of events in the story don't follow. It's not a proper story
@FalconWindblader
7 жыл бұрын
Linkenski I'm stating that from the reapers' point of view, whatever argument Shepard can throw doesn't hold water at all. that's all i'm saying. i don't like the ending just about as much as everyone else. & the fact that cyborgs can be made throughout the galaxy with just a beam of green energy flooding places is goddamn sloppy & ridiculous in the first place.
@wintersnoob
6 жыл бұрын
How's that? Even after aligning the both Admiral Raan states the conflicts are possible. It's only a matter of time between a rift is open between Quarian conservatives and Geth, again. Synthesis is the best logic because it is the final solution that the Catalyst never came to understand hence the endless cycles. Had they done synthesis in the first cycle and nobody would've have needed to be exterminated.

firefox3249 I personally believe Shepard was in the process of the Repears attempting Indoctrination on Shep. That's the canon I believe that it's Shepard's mental battle fighting the Reapers influence. The ILM is already in it deep though most definitely Whatever the end sequence was of ME3 he basically tries to stop Shep bc he thinks he can control the Reapers but it's logically impossible.
@firefox3249
8 жыл бұрын
Naomi Amani You fail to realise an important factor. If you've ever read the Codex, you'd know that long term indoctrination is a slow process that takes weeks to complete. Shepard wasn't exposed long enough to any Reaper elements in order to get indoctrinated. Also, do not forget that the "Indoctrination Theory" is 100% fan made and that Bioware never confirmed it.
@Naomi-gr7fm
8 жыл бұрын
firefox3249 Personally I can never accept the star child Shepard-deity BS they tried to throw us in the ending. The Indoctrination Theory may not have been confirmed by BW but I can't accept these supposed "choices" they gave us in the end which realistically aren't possible unless Shepard just knows space magic or is "The One" now. I have to disagree that Shepard hasn't been exposed to Reaper signatures long enough to be affected. The Reaper IFF in the Normandy is one factor I think can't be ignored. Shep has also been exposed to Reaper tech around the Universe which even when out of commission can still affect people. Shepard is too big an asset in the mind of the Reapers to not try and take a shot at infiltrating one of sentient life's most prolific leaders. They could have killed Shepard multiple times easily. I don't think it's pure luck and skill that Shepard is still alive. Nothing in the endings were very conclusive so the way people interpret the ending of the trilogy I feel will be debated until the end of time based on how they believe is the "right ending.". I respect your opinion though.
@firefox3249
8 жыл бұрын
Naomi Amani Yeah, Shepard did get near Reaper elements (the IFF isn't one of them), but he didn't stay long enough. While he still can be indoctrinated over a short amount of time, he'd end up a mindless drone really quickly (in a matter of days). Seriously, just read some entries of the Codex and you'll confirm it yourself. Also, the star child story is kinda shit. I'll give you that one

IMO Synthesis is the true ending for this plot about Organics VS Machines war since it unites the impossibly irreconcilable difference that is inherent to Creators and their creations's evolutions. Control is just a band-aid that is slapped on since it is admitted by the Shepard consciousness within the Reapers that its not sure if s/he is still the same Shepard that decided this conclusion. +Linkenski I agree to a certain extent, until the part with Javik. i like him in the game & it kinda collates with the fact that for most of the time, you can't defeat an enemy you know next to nothing about. having him here gives lotsa insights about shit loads of things, making defeating the reapers somehow actually look more feasible. the Leviathans on the other hand, is an incredibly dumb move. the whole shit had been going on for millions of years & the Leviathans are supposed to be older than that. you'd have thought that the reapers would have found the remnants of their creators somehow throughout those millions of years, & wiped them out.
i like your armor customization
"Or it could be the prothean standing right next to you."- Javik. Lol that was good
I love Javik.

Hey, 2021 guy here, glad you put an imperfect complexion on your Shepard
ahhh Mass effect 3 one of the epic games i played....exciting and you get the feeling of tension that the enemy is no mere mortal.
Thanks for the help. And where do you get that armor?
i like how they made the protheans a race of badmans
It's really interesting regarding the pattern of evolution after each harvest, too bad they didn't flesh it out more.
This scene was so intense the first time I played it
This is the part the bums me out, having javik in me3 just takes up a spot on your team for his knowledge but I like garrus and tali.

I always loved and do love(yep still do reruns...man o man every rerun i find something new..a new piece of dialogue to new loyality..etc) Garrus and Javik..OR Javik and wrex (when available)
I like the Bill Burr looking Shepard.
What armor is your sheppy wearing?
I try to give all squad members their screen time, but for this mission I will always choose Javik. The character is just perfect for the mission.
Oh *good call taking Javik with you on that mission* VideoGameSophistry
Javik,was that a smile?
Javik: Listen to the human. He can be trusted. Prothean VI: Your mission was known to me.Do you believe the present cycle can deliver retribution? Javik: THEY HAVE EARNED THE RIGHT TO TRY. Prothean VI: Very Well Me & Shepherd: MY NIGGA!!
The way Shepard just starts tuning out Liara.
"It must be the cypher you found back on Feros." "Or it could be the Prothean standing next to you." SO MUCH SHADE!!!!
Yes. "From Ashes" i believe.
yeah. it's called From Ashes
What is the armor shepard is wearing first time I see this one..... Mod ?
SO STRANGE
Vendetta is interesting. We never actually get much information out of it before Cerberus get their hands on it. And because we know they tampered with it, all information given by Vendetta after this point is suspect. So all we know for sure is: 1/ Repeating Cycles imply there's a greater design involved beyond the Reapers (speculation, confirmed as being essentially a mistake caused by the hubris of the Leviathans though could also potentially be something else as well due to the suspect informations the Leviathans themselves give). 2/ The Catalyst is a thing required to make the Crucible function. 3/ Vendetta can interface with "your systems" (directed at Shepard), either meaning the Crucible (though maybe not due to referring to it directly in the very same sentence) or Shepard's suit or even Shepard's body to "assist" with the Catalyst to... Do what? I still think the AI at the end of the game is not the true Catalyst. Shepard is - an unchanging addition to a formula that causes the reaction. Could be wrong, of course, but it makes a lot more sense to me.
Why does liara have a breathing mask on her home planet?

Beastly Form I'm guessing whoever recorded this did so on a PC and this is just a mod because I remember playing on my PS3 and there was no such mask needed

also...they are came through a battle field to reach the temple....may be liara wanted protection from dust and smoke
Love how we noticed the slit throats and then forgot "oh someone could be waiting" like wtf shepard your supposed to be smart.
what follows is the biggest fuckup in gaming history. never have i been, and never will i again, feel so frustrated about plot incompetence and railwaying than during the kai leng encounter
Kinda curious on what cycle first started work on the crucible.

Leviathons may be?
"Or it could be the Protean standing next to you" XD
If this is a Prothean beacon then it communicates via object reading, so you don't need to remove the statue to talk to it. And it is a holographic UI which also doesn't need to have the statue removed.
Taking javik to this mission is the most logical way and the best choice
How do you get that armour?
is Shepard's armor modded? It looks badass!
What armour is he using?
"Do you think this cycle can deliver retribution?" "Shepard will make Sovereign his bitch, so yeah, I think so" :P
thanks -.-
javik and garrus where my go to
(The voice actor for Javik in the games is actually Nigerian, Ike Amadi.)
Javik keeps passing gas in her vicinity.
that's a really badass looking Shep.
Cerberus: the new Collectors.
You get it when you get the From Ashes DLC, just after waking up Javik.
Where you get that armor?? what is the name of armor??
what armor is Shepard wearing ?
so the commercial before the video was about gay bears... was um.. interesting
It’s too bad the ending soured me on replaying the Mass Effect games. I would have liked to look forward to the new sequel that is in the works.
Everything about this game except the pacing of the dialog is flawless

is shepard supposed to look like spawn?
6:20 So this is what Javik's smile looks like
What armour is that>?
Playing mass effect andromeda sure makes me miss me3
what armor is that?
Liara as a SB didn't find that secret

Liara was a pretty pathetic SB tbh. She could find your romances in ME2 but she couldnt find something like this.
Imagine if the stupid prothean VI immediately told Shepard to start downloading the data and while the download would be goingthat the Catalyst is actually the Citadel. After that you could just run away from Kai Leng and his plot armor instead of fighting him.
Elcor"nail......NAIL"!
