I'm surprised you said one of the down falls of the Perdix was that it wasn't a rechargeable battery. Being able to replace the battery is a big selling point for me. Rechargeable batteries only last about 20 hours of diving, depending on the brand, then you have to recharge them. Like all rechargeable batteries the recharge last less and less over time and eventually loose their capacity to hold a charge after a few years, just like your cell phone when you eventually have to get a new phone or a new battery which is expensive. AA batteries are one of the most common and cheapest batteries that you can buy anywhere in the world. I like the EON Suunto but the battery charge only last for about 10 hours, after a few years the battery charge will last only a few hours before you have to replace it. Being able to replace the battery make this dive computer better than the others in this price range. Thanks for your time in doing the review, much appreciated.

Plus you can just get rechargeable AA batteries which to me lasts forever. I don't know If I've thrown away any of my batteries in the last 10 years.

AA and CR2 batteries is a huge plus in my opinion. You can find these batteries anywhere in the world. This is best diving computer hands down.

i agree, and can be switched on the fly insted of having to put it away for charging.

Have you had any issues with the seals and the battery replacement? I imagine that there is a potential to flood it if you’re not careful?

Bought my Perdix AI when it came out 2 years ago. I can't imagine ever to need another dive computer. Super robust and reliable.

Great review. I was looking to upgrade from my Suunto vyper air for recreational dives. I really like the idea of user replaceable batteries. Specially nowadays with rechargeable AA batteries lasting much longer than normal batteries.

I would say the battery on the perdix is a good thing. It last longer then most other computers, and is very easy to change, can also buy aa any where in the world. Also there is less that can be broken when you just change the battery

Perdix AI or Scuba Pro G2? Advantages/Disadvantages of each? Let’s limit comparison to rec diving for simplicity.

I really like the computer. Bought the AI without transmitters. Wish those were more affordable since I'd need to buy two for my sidemount cylinders. Someday I'll get them, but even without AI it's great. Clear display with continuous illumination, great compass that you can actually keep on the screen during normal use and easy controls. I actually feel the AA batteries are a pro not a con. No custom induction charger needed, they last long enough and are easy to get anywhere in the world.

Exactly my point! He complains about no rechargeable battery? How stupid that would be. Then it’s sealed like 100% of all other computers. I will not support dive manufacturers forcing me to send computer into the mafia for service. NOOOOPE!

Here we go with a third attempt and leaving a comment. Blasted Iphone craps itself for no obvious reason thus forcing me to start over. First, I really appreciate your honest reviews. Often a product is handed off for testing and the review in return makes it sounds like God uses one or if you get one of “these”, yer sperm count goes up... So again, I appreciate your efforts and honesty. I just watched your G2 review fro 2017, So, two questions... first, if you had unlimited money, which dive computer (Purdix AI or G2) would you recommend. Second question, if one of the two computers was on a great sale by ScubaPro (guess which one I’m referring to..) and money was somewhat limited, what would yer thoughts be on this. A little glare will not kill me - I’ve been run over by a Volkswagen beetle, stabbed and puked on by a camel so a little glare... I’ll handle it. I’m a recreational diver in my 60’s but the Amphos I use requires an underwater magnifying glass and a klieg light to read, not to mention an encyclopedia and a Phd. to figure out if I’m gonna narc out when down low. By the way, where are you from? English is great. (I’m going to rule out China...)

Battery ain't rechargeable but you can get one in 🙄

Yes, that's true but every time you open the computer you risk on damaging the o-ring and flood your computer. That's why we prefer a rechargeable battery which can be charged from the exterior.

More like induction charging. I know i did with a mouse, heated a bit though 😂 a mouse aint that expensive to test though

With all due respect, the only reason I’m buying this is because of user serviceability. Manufacturers are making all dive computers NON SERVICEABLE. Quit defending that Satanic habit. Disliked and unsubscribed.

the non ai is not lingering around, its a seperate model for people who dont want ai

And yes its a fail point, the ai is not magic so must have some hardware to recieve info and software to operate and analyse that is all potential failpoints, and then adding a transmitter is adding another fail point to a 200 bar conection, no thanks, analog is all i need. No battery, software or electronics failure. Plus i can assure you im not the only one who dont care for ai. Edit: the day temp, ai data and heart rate data is used in the algorithm i wilæ be interested as that would mean a more accurate profile for me, but till that time its just a gimmick

Battery isn’t rechargeable? That’s good! 99.9% of dive computers are not user serviceable. That’s why I’m buying it. If you want rechargeable, then buy rechargeable AA batteries, found all over earth!
