This is my very limited understanding of it. But basically you're betting however much money you decide you wanna bet. On what three numbers well hit. And I believe the 3 numbers are chosen by using the last three numbers from horse racing or something. However it works it turns out that it was actually a much more fair and legit way of doing a lottery game. Because you really couldn't rig the outcome. I think lol I could be way off

Basically it’s gambling under the table . Bookie or Betmaker will set win lose rates and payouts according to those odds. As a gambler you pay the bookie to make a bet against his odds. You win you get payed out in multiples of whatever you bet like a horse race. The numbers are the Odds set by the bookie and the associated rates. So when you had a “kid run numbers” you were having someone young enough not to do hard time if they were caught place bets for you under the table with the local Odds maker or Bookie.
