@@KrisKazlauskaite no, it is also very hard to find sour cream in Brazil. I did something similar as you, with creme freche and lemon (and I think plain yogurt too, but I'm not sure now)

Hey, hope you are well :) thank you so much! i feel quite proud to share my heritage :) yes the layers get soft and yummy, ideally overnight but if you keep for example 2 days it even tastes better :) so this cake has a long shelf life (doesn't last very long though as its very nice 😀) enjoy making it!🍯

@@blueberryblues3365 no, not really, we keep it very simple and it is really moist :) some people do a jam layer in the middle. It is such a nice combo with a cup of tea☕️☺️

Medovik or Medutis is my one of the favorites cakes from childhood to nowadays. I didn’t knew, that our brothers from Ukraine 🇺🇦 has similar recipe 💁🏻‍♂️ watching your video i can feel the taste of this cake 🍰 and by the way, God, help Ukraine 🇺🇦 to defeat this ugly war.

Thanks for your support of Ukraine. My family is Romanian and resided in Chernivtsi Oblast, Ukraine prior to migrating to Canada in 1899. In honor of Ukrainians and their supporters, we made pelmeni, borscht, golubtsi, tomato/cucumber salad and this honey cake recipe on Christmas day. It was delicious. Some of these are my family's favorite dishes, as well. I have a question regarding the cake recipe: after baking the sheets, I place the ring on them and cut around the inside to make a perfect circle, as you do. But as they cool, they continue to expand and become larger than the ring and I have to trim/cut them down to fit inside the ring again as I stack and frost them. Does this happen when you make it? How do I prevent this from happening? My best wishes to you, Heidi

hey Craig, yes i was gonna make it with greek yogurt too but finally found some crème fraîche. It will work too, I recommend to use greek yogurt with some fat, because I know some have 0% of fat 🙂 share your creation on Instagram with me later :)
