You’ll love traditional Eastern European cake recipe! My Walnut Prune Honey Cake with honey cake layers, sour cream whipped cream frosting, walnuts and dried prunes is so delicious! It’s also called торт чернослив (torte chernosliv) in Ukraine and Russia. The honey cake layers are moist and delicious and combine so well with the sour cream frosting and tart prunes! It’s great after dinner with a cup of tea!

I made it yesterday!!! 😃 I brought it to the birthday it was for so havent tasted it yet but they loved it! From what I tasted along the way the cream has a very nice tang to it and the layers with honey I can imagine pair very well with it. It's also not that heavy. I should whip the cream a little more thou next time I think cause it was really soft 😅 thank you for this recipe!!!!!!

Actually it's Ukrainian recipe, not russian. And it's best when it's made with smoked prunes as in old Ukrainian families. They are not available in North America, so I buy them every time I go to Ukraine.
Will be making this soon for the cale layers can i use coconut cream and for the frosting can i use coconut cream and vegan cream cheese as am dairy free i never had russian walnut honey cake before perfect for my birthday next year on 19 September and after office meals missed your videos sooooooooooo much love your recipes making me hungry Thanks Ramya

Actually not all me, it's a book put out by Tyson chicken Corp and I contributed to the book. I was the most published Chef in the Nation, got 5 of the 100 sent in that made it into the book. @@TatyanasEverydayFood huge parts of Russia is geographically in Asia though, Central Asia and South Asia it even share border with North Korea China and Mongolia etc and let’s not forget all 49 autonomous republics inside Russia who are not Slavic nor European, Russia is so diverse ethnically it’s unbelievable so many unique ancient people groups such as Bashkirs, Tatars, Chusvash, yakutians, Nenets, Buryats, Altais, Noghai, Yamalo Nenets, Karachay, Chechens, Avars, Ossetians, Adyghe, Kabardey, Tuvans, Ingush, Kalmyks, Balkars, Khakass, Komi, Mordovans, Udmurts and many more it’s really interesting, I love that you sometimes have included recipes from some of the autonomous republics and some of their unique more unknown recipes! And btw I love to try out your recipes even certain new stuff that I usually would hesitate trying I end up dying for it after cooking it for the first time😋🥰❤️ sending you virtual hugs✨

Dried dates, raisins and dried peaches will also work well. Enjoy!
Layers are usually thinner in this cake, otherwise cake is going to be dry.

I think that really depends on the recipe you use for the cake layers. Mine are very moist and delicate so making them thinner isn't necessary. Hope you enjoy the recipe!
