    Thanks Buff! You said to let you know about further testing - how about a fast, light, all copper 5.56 commercial offering? Something like a 45 or 55 TSX - midway has the 62gr TSX Vor-TX Ammo in stock right now. I think an all-copper loaded fast from your 22" barrel might have the best chance of getting through. It would be an interesting video to see which commercially available copper bullets one could load fast enough to get through these plates.

    I got the tactical scorpion level 3+ lightweight with their Bearcat carrier. I got extra side plates so I can test it out but it seems good. The plate carrier not so good. The pocket for the side plates are too small you can't seal with the plates in, the shoulder straps use Velcro and clips but the Velcro isn't strong enough to hold it so it slips down so the plates don't stay in the proper position. Maybe their other models of carries are better but based of mine I'd recommend getting the plate carrier somewhere else if you buy their armor

    How is the edges on these plates? Just straight foam or does the ceramic actually cover the stated size?

  • @BuffRANGE

    @BuffRANGE

    Жыл бұрын

    The ceramic on this model at least as of testing does not extend to the full stated size. So a 10x12 would have potentially 8x10 of ceramic coverage with the rest being a non ballistic material extending to the edge :D

    4 lbs is still a bit of weight. If you don't need to stop M2AP loads that's something to consider. If they updated for edge to edge protection it would make this plate a solid choice.

    @@thealize808 My thing about going super light weight like the active duty high speed guy which is who Dayton sells to is this: I’m a civilian concerned about defending my home. I’m not going to be sprinting through the woods or climbing mountains, so weighing 1-2 lbs more with better back face deformation protection is better suited for me. That deformation can break ribs and puncture a lung. If SHTF, ain’t nobody coming for you or me. Supreme Court ruled that the Police have NO OBLIGATION to protect you. Their obligation is protecting the govt. So I take back face deformation seriously lol.

    I would be sold on PE composite armor but for one thing. PE breaks down in extreme temperatures. I think they can only be in the range of -15F to 150F, which is good for most situations. However, where I am at I have had winters where it gets to -20F to -30F and summers as hot as 105F. If I was to leave it in a car at 105F it could be compromised. Were there tests done by anyone in these extreme conditions to see if they could still work after being exposed in extreme weather conditions? That would be neat if they could still work after at least some kind of exposure to extreme weather. If they did, I might give these a chance.
