Repairing 2x Lightspace Venus RGB22 Watt Show Lasers
Ғылым және технология
What's better than repairing a show laser? Repairing 2 of them!
In this video I'll cover some new issues seen in the Lightspace Venus RGB22W shows lasers. The first one is minor wiring issues and the second is repair or a bad laser driver. I have chosen to only show new problems. Other issues have been discussed on other videos so go ahead and check those out if you want a more comprehensive understanding of these lasers over all. If you feel as though I should go over every issue on each laser let me know and I will consider longer videos with full repair processes from start to finish.
For repair services contact me through the email listed on my ( About ) section.
Enjoy!

You are doing amazing work, people should be very thankful that you exist. 😊
Nice job Pat. Amazing job on that 65 watt you built.
"make it less broken". that is a good mindset to have.
I have no practical need for one of these but nevertheless I find myself scouring ebay for an opportunity to spend way too much money repairing a ‘bargain’ 😂 thanks for the great videos - the topology of commercial show lasers has previously been a mystery to me
great one, once again! thank you!!
Awesome stuff as usual Zeno nice to see the thighandtithic method at work again.... churrss brother Z!
How long have you been working with lasers? Your videos are super impressive to a noob like me.

Better part of 15 years. I have always been interested in lights since I was very young but it was around 12 years old when I got my first laser pointer. I am nearly 37 now. It's certainly my passion and I don't ever see not working with Lasers. Every time I turn around they are making new ones. It really is an incredible era of lighting technologies!
very nice video and many thanks.i wonder where is my message that i send you hours before.thanks again
He is still alive and lasing ^_^

Certainly am! Hopefully I can get content up more often again but it's been one of those years I am not going to forget. Life is changing like crazy.

So say we all.
Putting the wires back in the wrong rail, either that was deliberate or just sloppy What caused the regulator to fail to start with though

Yeah, I was surprised to see that wire swap. I am betting it was an improper repair attempt done years ago before I did work for this client. It is an older unit so it makes sense. As far at the regulators go it's a thermal cycling heat death. They are getting 24V and dropping it to 5v. I think it's like 100mA that is being passed through. Since they are linear components they are basically smart resistors. The part can handle up to 1 amp, but the package thermal dissipation is only like 1-2W. So 100mA x 19V is nearly 2W of heat made in that part. Electrically it's in spec. This is why a part often as a power dissipation rating. You get 2W you can choose to drop 2V at 1A or drop 20V at .1A even though that part can drop up to 35v or a load with 1A but not both. That would be 35 watts of heat! Yikes!

@@Zenodilodon yes, more than a little toasty! 😂 A shame there was no heatsink
Not gonna lie, I found myself squinting when the lasers came on.
