Me too brother... I cry all the time listening to Ren and I'm not sorry or apologetic about it. Ren is what music has been music for a LONG time... REAL! We feel that in every word he speaks as we line it up to his autobiography of his life played on albums... Ren is TRUELY; One of a kind...

He has a gift for turning his pain into something utterly beautiful, while also making very sure you never forget that it's pain

@@brianito7779 I agree, it has nothing to do with sexuality. What is your problem? I'm complimenting Ren. How is that reading too much into anything? I had a best friend who committed suicide but I didn't feel profound love for him. He was just my mate.

This is just the simplest, purest song expressing love and loss in the most honest way possible. This was 12 years ago. He sang it at Joe's funeral and there is a restaurant on Anglesey called Freckled Angels (in honour of both Joe and the song). There is a live version - Ren looks so young, but so determined to pay proper respect to Joe. He starts to rush towards the end, trying to make sure he finishes it before crying. Quite a tough watch to be honest. What a beautiful song and what a beautiful friendship they had.

Sorry to hear of your loss. This is a truly heartbreaking song to listen to. Whatever else Ren does or will do, the way that he touches on so many seemingly hard but real situations is the most important thing he will ever do. Through sharing his pain so viscerally, he seemingly provides a safe space for others to be more open with their pain and feelings and allow some unburdening. He is literally saving lives - this is his true legacy. I feel sure that there is a freckled angel up above, smiling down and laughing and telling Ren "I told you so" right now. I bet your nephew is also beaming with pride at you.

I haven't made it through the live version yet without falling apart. It's absolutely heartbreaking, and maybe the most real thing on KZread.

I'm truly sorry for your loss. Ren brings broken people together and makes it okay to express any emotion and heal together. Thanks always for a wonderful and heartfelt reaction.

When I saw Ren jumping for joy whilst being announced that he earned the No.#1 album in the UK…he looked towards the skies and cried. I know he was thinking of Joe. Yeah, he makes me cry, happy or sad.

@@redheadedneighbor The funny thing is, Ren is how I found people to support. I used to think that my comments wouldn't matter and no one would be interested anyway. I have recently been proven wrong in both cases. I really didn't know it would be that important to ME either. But, that has become a large part of who I am. Another example of the Ren effect. I have been in the darkness and have cone into the light. I try to spread that light as much as I can. Probably rambling. You have an AWESOME night.

I am not scared to say I cried for Ren, for Joe, and for my own peace of mind: I too have lost a very close friend that was a much better man than I, I love and miss you Corey Taylor (His mom was a singer and she named him after the lead singer of slipknot).... Thanks for the video. 4:14 For the first time today I watched a live performance of this song 8 months after Joe passed. Your words about "Putting feeling into his song and "working through them". That could not be more true in the video I watched... He is crying telling the story then, ... Starts singing about his best friend Joe and doesn't miss a beat...

This song and suicide in particular mean a lot to me because I had a brother that passed away from an overdose a couple years ago and he was very freckled. I miss him every day. I think it's beautiful Joe is still remembered this way. My brother was an organ donor who saved 3 people's lives so my brother will always live on too. Thank you so much for this! We never forget the ones we lose

*sigh* I unfortunately have this connection as well with yourself and Ren. I lost my best friend and my girlfriend to S, during my young adulthood. I’m actually the one who discovered my best friend, and had to phone the police. As far as my girlfriend, she lived in Norway (we met while I was in the Navy) and I had just gone to visit her from the states. Just to get the call two weeks later from her mom telling me what had happened after I returned home😢. It’s an incredibly painful experience to handle. I’ve done my best to continue on, but life for me hasn’t been easy. Sometimes it feels like I’m just going through the motions. I do what I can to remain in a positive mindset daily, but it’s not always easy. Thank you for your reaction to this song. ❤
