It’s so underrated and beautiful that after everything they went trough, Valencia came to love Rebecca that much. I mean she’s broken crying terrified of the possibility that Rebecca would kill herself. Most of shows just keep the female characters on the frenemy zone going on and back, never developing a strong loving friendship, This could be the most progressive tv show of the decade.

I know this season has been big for a lot of reasons but this scene specifically is a huge defining factor in the show. "It's not about josh, maybe it ever was" is such an important line, and Josh hearing it is even better.

@@rahbeeuh It is, but with the amount of deceiving Rebecca does you never know if a statement like that is supposed to be a lie she's telling herself or not. In this scene, her saying this out loud, it feels incredibly genuine.

This was a huge development for Valencia. She started off as a frienemy, then she gives up her DREAM WEDDING for Rebecca, and here she's practically declaring Rebecca her best friend. Kudos to Gabrielle Ruiz for such fine acting!

I think Darryl is a little to naive for that. He never really guides her or gives her advice. He is supportive but doesn't understand a lot about her. Plus, it seems pretty apparent that Rebecca is not capable of that kind of relationship. Any man she finds to be fatherly or supportive she wants to fuck.

Never seen such an amicable character on TV..definitely his affable manner surpasses phil dunphy.

I had a friend who attempted suicide and eventually "succeeded". Their attempts left me worried and I asked them to try to hang on but I realized as much as they wanted to keep fighting they couldn't fight anymore. Anyway this scene reminded me of them

I first made real friends in this support group for borderlines like myself. It hit us very hard when a women in the group who repeatedly self-mutilates more so than the rest of us seceded at passing away. She was one of my best friends... a platonic life partner, we had a lot of similar interests.

I absolutely LOVE 1:23, because she doesn’t promise she won’t do it again. She’s realistic and grounded. It’s so important

I'm glad that she's talking to her friends, that she's coming to terms with her diagnosis and that she's opening her mind up to situations outside her exes, and I'm glad she didn't talk to Josh though they should talk at some point when she's ready to talk about it. But I still think she should have sent he puppy and taken the puppy - it's small, it's sweet and it could even be a therapy dog.

Oh screw that. Dogs and other pets are TERRIBLE gifts, unless the person specifically asked for one. Josh having a dog ther is just one more example on how self centered he was at that point.

I think choosing a pet is something personal to a person, and should be a well-thought out decision. That said, I think it would be a great idea for Rebecca to have a dog or a cat, though she does at least get to take care of Estrella at the end.

I cry every time I watch Valencia break down. I've been exactly there - where all you want is assurance that your friend will get better and never hurt themselves again. This scene did such a great job showing what the loved ones of those going through this feel, which I've never seen in media before.

I feel that I would love to promise I won’t ever try to kill myself again but I can’t. I sincerely can’t. But I don’t wanna be there again either.

Not going to lie....these episodes made me feel like shit. No body ever cared about me in my life the way that they cared for Rebecca when I tried to kill myself. It was just me getting myself out of the darkness. It's always only been me.

He probably did it because puppies are cute. But usually having pets is good for people with depression it gives you a focus. For example when you don't want to get out of bed because you feel tired, you still get up because the dog needs you to feed him or walk him. It really helps.

I can't help but feel bad for Josh here. He doesn't understand what's going on and he is being self-centered but Rebecca put him through hell WAYYY more than all her other friends and she barely apologizes to him a season too late. Sure he left her at the altar but that was after a year of her stalking and manipulating and gaslighting him. The writers were clearly so biased against him and it makes me disappointed because he is one of my favorite characters and such a great example of representation for Asian male love interests.

this show- Jesus fucking Christ. I had a similar conversation with a friend once- actually lots of conversations like this. I was 12, she was 13. Neither of us should have ever have had to deal with that. Having a close friend who’s having extreme suicidal thoughts and has maybe even attempted it before is terrifying. I remember whenever my mums phone would go off, or I hadn’t hear back from her in a while- god. And- I just couldn’t even imagine the pain she was feeling- there’s this feeling of total and utter helplessness. The line “I want to promise you that- but I can’t” wow- got to applaud this show’s writers.

This scene is everything ❤️😭❤️

Like Rebecca said its not about josh, her mental instability was there before he was and because she latched onto him through her issues doesnt make it his fault, josh is adorably stupid, i dont think he ever meant any harm, when you think about all the stuff that happened josh didnt know about most of it and rebecca twisted what she told him each time and after the wedding when he finds out everything he still tries to come back and apologize sure its with a puppy which isnt a great idea but its josh he just wants to make things better but has absolutely no idea how, just like the rest of the group
