This is top notch acting. You can see Rebecca’s expressions for a second in between her hateful rants, and she’s so incredibly sad. She hated every second of this.

I don't understand why this is described as a "darkest" moment. This is simply a character who tries to committ suicide, in not a particularly gruesome way. It's filmed as something sad, not dark or evil.

They can’t defend themselves from someone as nuts as you and your family. They are not used to dealing with shit people to the same extent that I am. You use them like a human shield. I never noticed this until now but the music reminds me a lot of “Brooks Was Here” off of the Shawshank Redemption score. Regardless of song choice, this was one of the best acted scenes in the whole show and made me realize that I may relate to Rebecca more than I thought.

If i was one of rebeccas friends i would of said something to her in a similar to ditch her right back if i could rather then go back to being a door mat and take it. Im usually pretty forgiving and loving but after being abused myself once they provoke me verbally or some other way like this woman did to her friends its on and ive even done it to verbally and emotionally abusive landlords that i lived with or they are above me or act like their point of view matters the most. I dont start it but i do strike back when pushed and its called self defense.

Fun facts: Vicki's mom wasn't dead, which we see in the episode. However in the Email leak episode first they leak the lunch lady's emails. In those emails there are emails to Vicki from "mom" and apparently they weren't on good terms. So if you note that detail, her mom being alive is actually a nice touch at the end of this episode when they're all booing Garrett and Vicki. They're on better terms since her emails all got leaked. I hope someday someone reads this comment and finds it as interesting as I do.

The incorporation of this reprise is brilliant: 1) It represents the old toxic thought processes creeping back in 2) Sometimes, when we find out something that hurts us, we’ll try to ration it out at first and think it’s not a big deal, but then the feelings start to break through our defenses and build up rapidly (that’s a terrible way of wording it, I know). And even this is shown by how the music starts to fade in only towards the end

Honestly Hector has the patience of a fucking saint being able to handle his girlfriend who is pregnant with a baby that isn't his or even biologically hers. I mean this was a completely optional thing that his girlfriend who he'd just started dating very recently decided to do on a whim and they guy just rolls with it

What was great about this episode is Rebecca in her own round about way did tell the truth: she was incredibly depressed and unhappy in New York and desperate to change her life. Josh may have put the idea in her head that West Covina was the answer, but it really had nothing to do with Josh. Rebecca may be struggling with the idea that a man is the answer to her problems, but deep down she’s smart enough to understand that music and performing is what makes her happy and Josh just happen to be there.

I didn't want them to be together, but still was I really the only one who was a little happy for Rebecca? Like it was just something that she wanted for so long, she kind of needed that from him in order to start moving beyond it. Guess it was wishful thinking on my part that she'd get the proposal, be super happy for a hot minute, then make the amicable, rational decision to part with J before the wedding... haha what show did I think I was watching???
